Chapter 63: The Four 'Founders'(2)

Chapter 63: The Four 'Founders'(2)

Motherfuckers! Is this the time to be thinking about Pogs? Here I am, trying to resolve fundamental flaws and you...you want to know what Pogs are? Is this the time? Is this the place? Just who made you the four founders? Show them to me and I promise I won't beat them to death!

Sol felt like coughing up a mouthful of blood. He looked at the four portraits in disbelief. However, he calmed down and said, "Actually, why am I even arguing with you? Aren't you guys just magical portraits? It's not like you guys can change your minds."

"Presumptuous!" Slytherin flicked his sleeves, "We were the greatest wizards and witches of our time and your time. Naturally, our portraits are superior as well!"

"Oh, yeah? I didn't expect the greatest wizards or witches to ask me questions like that!" Sol looked at Gryffindor. Slytherin also understood what Sol was implying and shot a glare at Gryffindor as though saying, 'Look, you made us look like retards.'

Gryffindor scratched his head with a confused and awkward expression on his face which seemed to be asking, 'What did I do?'

"I'm sorry, Mr. Balor," Ravenclaw cut in, "Continue!"

"Right, where was I? Oh, yes! I believe that we sort too early and thus propose to postpone it till the sixth or seventh year, or better yet, completely remove it from the equation!"

"Absolutely not, we-" Sol cut Slytherin off, "Haven't you heard what I just said? On what grounds are you opposing my words? And do you want to know something even better?" Sol paused and looked at Slytherin, "The Sorting System causes the most damage to the students of your house."

"Ridiculous! How can that possibly be true?!" Slytherin harrumphed.

"Every one of the students of your house is a blood-racist through and through. Scorned by the school through most of the years they spend here, they were already depraved and fall into further depravity the more they spend time in school!

Judging someone because of their blood, what ridiculous notion! This is even more hilarious when the half-blood or muggle-born students are better than the pure-blood ones!"

"How dare you trample on the dignity and authority of pure-blood witches and wizards everywhere!" Slytherin bellowed, "Their status isn't something someone like you can judge!"

"Someone like me?" Sol's face darkened, "What are you implying?"

"Do you think I don't know your origins?" Slytherin sneered. "Sol Balor, born from Selena Balor, a witch, and Tom Balor, a muggle!"

Sol stayed silent. He waited for Slytherin to continue as he walked over to the window and opened it. A gentle breeze blew in from outside and permeated the room.

"Selena Balor, who came from a pure-blood family sullied herself by breeding with that inferior mu- Ah!" Slytherin couldn't continue as his portrait suddenly launched itself from the wall out of the window. The other three founders' jaws dropped to the floor as they watched all this unfold. They turned to look at Sol who was holding his wand with a frosty expression on his face. If Slytherin's portrait didn't have a Protection Charm on it, the outcome would've been much worse than just throwing him out the window. And this was being merciful by Sol's standards.

"Would anyone like to continue on this topic?"

After a long silence, Ravenclaw rubbed her temples before saying, "I apologize on behalf of Salazar, and no, we will not be continuing this topic."

"Very well," Sol put his wand back into his robes.

"Mr. Balor, I-I feel like that that was too much!" Hufflepuff said.

"Haah~" Sol sighed, "Ms. Hufflepuff, do you even know how the students of your house are treated?"

"W-What?" Hufflepuff was startled by the sudden question.

"They're looked down on," Sol admitted.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

"Why?"

"It seems your house traits aren't the most notable. Loyalty is a very widespread trait. The students from Slytherin and Gryffindor have it as well even though it is not a requirement for them. Is there any difference between your Loyalty and Slytherin's Fraternity? And the worst culprit of this is Gryffindor whose Bravery, Courage, Valor, and Daring ultimately end up meaning the same thing. And even Ravenclaw, whose Intelligence and Wisdom are just the different applications of wit which even Slytherin have with their Cunning. Back to your issue, Hufflepuff as a house has become a sort of disgrace. People now disdain getting sorted into Hufflepuff."

"That...can't be true," Hufflepuff retorted in a quiet tone that seemed a bit unconfident.

"But it is. Hufflepuff has become a house where all those who don't have the qualifications to get into the other three houses gather together. Or for a lack of a better term, where all the miscellaneous students go."

Hufflepuff stayed silent so, Sol consoled, "Ms. Hufflepuff, I can do nothing about the truth. The Sorting System indeed has brought about this change though it isn't the main cause of it."

"Not the main cause? Then what is?" Ravenclaw did feel sorry to see her old friend like this. Even though they had fallen out later in their lives, living a few centuries as portraits has mended their relationship to a certain extent. But being inherently curious, she had instinctively asked this question.

"That would be Ms. Hufflepuff's low-profile nature," Sol said with a regretful expression, "She simply doesn't boast an impactful reputation. Gryffindor has his bravery and his war against the Goblins, Slytherin has his blood-racism and potioneering, even you have your reputation for your advances in magic studies. Thus I ask, what is Ms. Hufflepuff known for?"

Sol sighed and took a sip of water, "We are here to talk about the Sorting System not to put down anyone. Let this be a lesson to you though. The state of Hufflepuff is one of the reasons why I say to abolish the Sorting System."

Sol paused to look at them, "Do you know Tom Riddle?"

"Voldemort?" Gryffindor asked, "Isn't he that dark wizard, Voldemort? Then, yes."

"His change could've been avoided had he not been sorted to Slytherin."

"You-!" Ravenclaw's eyes widened.

"It's true. I have heard about him from the Headmaster. His grudge against his muggle father only deepened in Slytherin which also brought about his disdain towards muggles and anything related to them. Had he been sorted to Gryffindor or Hufflepuff, this might've not happened."

"I see..." Ravenclaw's frowned, "So, the thousands of casualties are our own fault."

"I hope that my words have been able to invoke a change."

"I can't say for certain," Ravenclaw looked at Sol with slight admiration in her eyes, "We will need to discuss with Albus."

"I understand. Then I will take my leave," Sol got up and started walking.

"Ah, yes! Please call Albus for us on your way out."

"Very well, I bid you farewell." Sol opened the door.

"Yes, I hope we can talk again."

"No," Sol shook his head, "I hope this is the last time we have to talk." Saying that he left the room. His words didn't anger Ravenclaw as she understood what he implied. He didn't want another incident to occur as well as hoped that his words had some effect to not repeat them again.

After some time, Dumbledore entered the room. As soon as he looked up at where the four founders' portraits were, he became stunned. He pointed to where Slytherin was supposed to be, "W-Where did-"

"Salazar, uh..." Ravenclaw understood what he wanted to ask, "He went to get some fresh air."

A Few Weeks Later

"Do you guys want to hang out this Easter?" Cormac asked.

Choo! Choo!

The horns of the Hogwarts Express blared. With the Easter Holidays starting, the students left the school and went back to their homes. But this time, the holiday was mandatory. All the students were required to leave for home this time. Of course, it doesn't take a detective to figure out why. The school and Ministry would have a better chance at finding the Basilisk with the students out of the way. And with the entire wizarding populace of England knowing about recent events, the parents were more than happy with welcoming their children back home.

"I mean, I have no qualms if you guys made any sort of plans," Sol took a neutral stance.

"That's a good idea. Where do you guys want to go?" Katie asked excitedly.

"The Leaky Cauldron?" Cormac suggested.

"Christ! Can we go somewhere normal?" Sol rebuked.

"Like where?"

"How about Chessington World Of Adventure?" Sol suggested.

"Isn't that a muggle theme park?" Katie asked.

"Yeah, it's in Chessington."

"Why should we go to a muggle-" Cormac wanted to complain but Sol cut him off.

"Have you gone there?" Sol asked with a harsh stare.

"N-No."

"Did you experience the rides there?"

"No."

"Then, it's settled. We'll go to Chessington World Of Adventures!" Sol declared. He then looked at Katie, "Pick a date."

"A d-date?" Katie was startled, her ruby-red eyes blinking at Sol. Looking at the strangely silent Cormac, Katie she understood what Sol was saying, "How about the 17th of April?"

"Great, that's two weeks away! It's settled!" Sol declared. After that, a silence descended the compartment they were in.

"I have no qualms if you guys made any sort of plans," Cormac mumbled in Sol's voice.

"You!" Sol glared at him and Katie laughed at the side. Cormac laughed along with her. Amidst this joyful atmosphere, the Hogwarts Express made its way to King's Cross Station.
