Wu Guang opened his eyes and returned to his full senses. Looking at the spear that had entered the ground for almost half of its length, he felt himself sensing the first level of the spear way. If one opened a book regarding weapons, the first thing that one would read would be about this level. Basic training, also called mortal training was considered to be the one between the zero and the first stage of a weapon, but when one entered the first level a cultivator or master would actually start feeling a closeness to the weapon and gain far better comprehension about its nature. Applying this and combining it with training, battles, and techniques one could start the path towards the pinnacle of real training, which was considered the Body as a Weapon. There were another three stages called Weapon in Heart, Weapon in Soul, and Realm of the Weapon, but they were actually considered to be outside the training, being called the real weapon path. Normally advanced level cultivators were proficient with several weapons and almost everyone followed the path of their main weapon. Another name for this was weapon comprehension, but it was mostly used by cultivators who had started to understand the dao.
Wu Guang submerged himself into the memories of his past life as the Immortal Bai Qi, remembering the weapon path he had followed. He was considered a scholar, but any cultivator would have to fight and he wasn't an exception. He had always preferred the enormous amount of qi manipulation techniques that the fan had and reached the Fan in Heart stage. When the image of his 'Currents of Wisdom' appeared, he exited the memories, but a slight melancholy was seen deep in his eyes.
"Haah, I wonder what happened to it after I was considered dead. I did unbind it from my soul and hinted to the spirit about what I intended to do... I just hope that it's okay, maybe one day I will encounter it again" he slightly muttered with a sigh.
Shaking his head he pulled the spear off the ground and walked towards the storage room. Leaving it there and taking the small saber without a sheat he returned to the center of the training area. He again took some time to recover his qi and then carefully observed the blade.
A simple saber made of common steel. The blade was two and a half feet in length, a finger thick, while the edge itself had only the width of a strand of hair. With its slight curve towards the tip, it was intended for quick slashing attacks. The cross or handguard was made to look like a bird's foot while the handle was covered with simple but well-made leather. The only details would be the guard and the weighted pommel that was adorned with an engraved sparrow. The pommel made the balance feel off, but after swinging it several times, Wu Guang found that his first impression was wrong and the balance was actually pretty good.
For one-handed saber movements, all of them would be quick and of slashing nature so it was not very hard to find a basic movement to start his training. When he entered the state of understanding that he had been able to call every time if he had a blank mind and used the circulation technique to infuse qi into the muscles while making basic movements, he started moving and his slashes were directed at all the possible directions and angles.
It took him less than two hours to feel that he reached the level to show an intermediate level of common training and he stopped as it happened. He stored the weapon and swam a bit in the lake before walking towards the tree stump he has been using as a cultivation spot.
This time he not only recovered his qi but also slowly observed all the changes in the muscles. He had decided to leave this until the last moment, as to not distract himself from the weapon practice. Every muscle in his arms starting from the wrists was about to reach the peak of tempering, which was far more quickly than he expected. The rest of the muscles were varied in their glow, but except the leg area that he had only used for moving were glowing brightly. For the legs he would need to acquire a kicking technique, so he decided to leave them for the time he enters the sect.

Deciding that the next day he would train with the clubs, big saber, staff, and small ax he stood up and took a walk around the lake, waiting for dinner to arrive.
He only walked around a quarter of the lake when he saw Xiao Feng walking towards him.
"Brother Xiao! How is everything?"
"Boring as one would expect from bureaucracy, but I have been enjoying the visits to the military areas. And for you Brother Wu? How is your training going?"
"Good. I have understood a bit of the weapon I have bought and I expect to at least not appear like an idiot who will stab himself with his weapon. I had some problems with acquiring a bow, so I wanted to ask you if you can loan me a common one from the armory in two days if I don't acquire mine"
"Yes, yes, no problem. Oh, speaking of training, the books about Herbs, Medicine and Runes should arrive today. The refining master intended to send some as well, but he actually found out that he has none for someone without the basic knowledge, so he passed a message to meet one of his apprentices or errand boys as he calls them so they explain"
"Thank them all on my behalf then, or wait, I will do it personally when visiting. Do you intend to eat dinner here?"
"No, I can't stay. There will be a banquet in the house of the Guard General and I wanted to go. I actually wanted to ask you if you were interested, but as the books will arrive, I think you better not. After all, today is the 3rd day of the six you can use to train and learn"
"Wow, I did not expect such words from Brother Xiao"
"And don't expect them in the future. I would make you go, even by force if it was me. Regretfully I know that Palace Master Chen expects great things from you, so if he finds out I made you lose time with a banquet, most probably I will meet Head Enforcer Zhang for a very polite discussion"
"I don't think that Elder Chen is such an evil person, but I agree that I need to fulfill his task"
"Master Chen maybe isn't, but the Head Enforcer may decide to do it anyways"
"Ok, ok. So, did you have any other reason to come?"
"Actually no. But now that you ask, do you want me to get an instructor from the guard to come? I mean, he can help you with the weapons"
"If I may impose, a small spar on the 6th day would be perfect. I only plan to visit the master quarters with you and it should not take the full day"
"Don't forget the dinner with my father, but yes, I will talk with one of them to arrange it. I will also come to watch how you are kicked around by one of those monsters" Said Xiao Feng with a chuckle.
"Yes, yes. What a good brother I have" With a faked sigh said Wu Guang. Some moments later, he asked a question that crossed his mind while training
"Brother Wu, what are the common weapons for the disciples?"
"Normally one would use whatever they have, but the most use spears, staffs and clubs. I would say that the reason for them to be common would be that even at a low level the sect has exclusive techniques for them. The martial library has techniques for all the weapons, but only commonly known ones. The palaces have their preferred weapons as well, but they don't teach any techniques to non-members"
"Hmm. Thanks for the explanation"
"No worries. Well if that's all, I will excuse myself. I have a banquet to visit after all" Saying this Xiao Feng waved his hand and left after wishing luck.
