Spirit Realm

Xiao Feng returned exactly as planned, on the 15th day counting from his leave. It was just about midday so when he arrived at the residence. And he was slightly surprised to find both Wu Guang and Yuan Taotu present.

His question was answered but the answer made him doubtfully ask to confirm

"Both of you are about to break into the Spirit realm?" which was responded by a simultaneous nod.

"Well! My mentoring seems to have been extremely useful" said Xiao Feng while almost doubling in laughter, a fact met with a chuckle from Wu Guang and something resembling a smile from Yuan Taotu.

A long talk about what had happened during these two weeks followed, during which Xiao Feng spoke mostly about his mission and Wu Guang about his and Yuan Taotu's cultivation days. For the former, the mission was escorting a caravan with cultivation resources from the east coast, but except for some bandits and a few lone beasts, the journey was safe and easy.

With all the news exchanged, Xiao Feng, told them to prepare and breakthrough when they are ready and that he will guard them. The latter was Wu Guang's main reason to wait for him, after all, a slight qi fluctuation could lead to deviation or at least a failed attempt - so at least one guard that could sense such was required. Xiao Feng's current cultivation was the 6th level of the Spirit realm, so he could use his senses and consciousness for this, which was the reason for them to wait and him offering to do so.

The pair was prepared and as the Spirit realm had no accompanying effects or dangers except absorbing the surrounding qi, it was decided to not wait and proceed right away. As it would be done in turns to avoid disrupting each other as the absorption in case of success began, Wu Guang was decided to be the first, on his part this was meant to assure Yuan Taotu who had also reached the peak of the Secret realm that there were no problems. As decided, he proceeded to sit down and concentrated on circulating the qi inside him while preparing to recite the mantra that would make this qi gather below the bosom and then attempt to create a dantian - basically making the qi stay there and create a place to store it. Wu Guang was absolutely certain of success, and not a small part of this came from the fact that 'Everchanging Path, Everchanging Flow' had specific instructions, which meant that he would not need to do anything except starting the process and reciting this mantra part.

He also decided to activate his consciousness, allowing Wu Guang to observe all the processes. The qi in his body had no color, after all, it was simple qi absorbed from the environment and made his own by circulation, so what he saw was simple currents moving through the pathways. When all the qi available in his 20 meridians and hundreds of pathways gathered in the area below his bosom he finished the mantra and waited for the resolution.

The normal process here would require him to will for the qi to stay there, outside the circulation, and not let it dissipate, but as it was controlled by the mantra he did not have to do so and could simply remain observing. He saw how the qi condensed more and more until assuming an almost solid form. After a moment, it extended somewhat, assuming a more elliptical form and connecting to the nearest pathways, which signified that he had managed to form a dantian.

Although the process was successful, he had not yet entered the Spirit realm as it would happen only when the dantian actually merged with the circulation system. For this in place of waiting as others would do, Wu Guang decided to quicken it. And so he activated his breathing technique and after gathering enough qi let it flow into his pathways.

His strategy was soon rewarded as the qi flowed into the dantian without any further interference and as it reached it, he sensed that he was now a Spirit realm cultivator.

Entering the Spirit realm was for most of the cultivators the moment they really felt like one, after all, right as the sound accompanying any breakthrough was heard, one's dantian would be felt. This was exactly the case for Wu Guang.

The dantian was not only there to store qi, it would also let the body absorb it naturally to replenish itself. Still, the first time the dantian absorbed qi was magnificent, as it would be done quickly and visible.

Several qi currents started gathering around, generating an almost visible whirlpool of qi. This whirlpool after growing to a size comparable to a small mountain suddenly transformed into a current that flowed towards and then entered Wu Guang's body.

With this, the process was officially finished and Wu Guang opened his eyes and started to rise up when his mind was suddenly flooded with information. This was so unexpected and the information amount was so enormous that even his Saint-level consciousness did not manage to understand it instantly, provoking him to plop back. The flow was so enormous that it made him feel like his head would explode.

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Yuan Taotu and Xiao Feng who were standing nearby were approaching Wu Guang to congratulate him as this happened, so when they noticed that he paled and almost fell while standing up they quickly rushed to his side

"What happened? Do you feel okay?" Was the first thing that Xiao Feng asked as he neared

Thankfully the headache felt lighter after a few breaths and he also stopped feeling dizzy. This came as most of the information was absorbed, so Wu Guang after a few breaths stood up by himself and answered

"Yes, I am fine. Sorry to worry you" Saying this he quickly followed with an explanation that he came up from before for cases like this, after all, although unexpected at that moment, he always knew that the missing knowledge from the mysterious set he decided to use would appear - which was exactly the case right now

"I felt some pain after my first circulation, but I am fine now. It seems that I missed a few pathways before, so they were torn and then reconstructed during it"

His explanation was actually based on a very common issue that happened, as some of the minor pathways could not be strengthened enough before, they would be now - but far more painfully.

Seeing that he was better now as the paleness received and as the explanation made sense Xiao Feng simply said him to go rest after congratulating him on breaking through. Yuan Taotu did have some doubts, but seeing that Wu Guang needed some time alone from the glance he sent him, did not make any inquiries and simply stretched his hand in a handshake.

Wu Guang indeed needed some time to carefully analyze the newly acquired information, so after responding to the handshake and thanking Xiao Feng, he wished Yuan Taotu luck and went to the room he occupied.

Xiao Feng and Yuan Taotu remained in the small yard in front of the house as the latter confirmed his intention to break through now as well.

Wu Guang had reached his room while they started and knowing that he had some time alone simply sat on the bed and entered his own mind. Relying on his consciousness he started analyzing the knowledge he had gained. Most of the flood that almost drowned him was composed of different techniques and mantras. All of them were related to the Spirit realm and were meant to allow him to advance. It was an enormous gain for Wu Guang, as knowledge like the one he had just received was far superior to what he could think of himself, not to mention find in a low-level plane.

The smaller but not less important rest was simple information, but it was exactly what took all of Wu Guang's attention. The information was about how to fuse techniques and fully explained the process, solving all the questions while confirming and even surpassing the expectations that he had after deciding to use the set.

Simplifying the information, any technique that did not need special or also called unique qi could be fused with other ones or changed to a more personal version at will. The only condition being that they resonated and could be activated along the new part of the 'Everchanging Path, Everchanging Flow' that had appeared. "This set is very intriguing indeed. Although an enormous amount of information appeared, all of it is only for the Spirit realm, which means that with every minor realm crossed, I will gain the respective part - leading me into complete understanding only after reaching its limit" thinking this he remembered that the set was meant to be used from zero and until or during the so far Astral realm, which again confirmed that indeed most probably it was heavens will for him to obtain it before being attacked and forced to restart his path.

As he finished sorting the knowledge, Wu Guang's headache fully receded and he even felt renewed. His dantian was full even without checking it consciously. This was something that any Spirit and forward cultivator will be able to do, but his own feeling was a bit more exact, at least this is how he would describe it - as he felt an amount of qi, and not just that it was filled. Right now he could not guess how much this amount was in reality, as he did not have any qi technique to compare, but comparing this sense to his memories, he could slightly understand that right now he had qi comparable to a mid-Spirit realm cultivator. Most probably the latter was thanks to the Secret realm, but the added benefit of feeling an exact amount would be extremely helpful for him.
