The next morning after he ate the breakfast that a servant brought and served in the same pavillion Wu Guang sat down to meditate on the trunk that Xiao Feng had mentioned. This was indeed a great cultivation spot, with several qi currents flowing through it. Wu Guang slowly sensed every meridian and pathway in his body, observing how the qi slowly moved and sometimes left to integrate into his organs, this was a normal process that maintained their state at maximum even when there was no damage. He used 'Chaotic Ghatering' for a brief moment to replenish the qi to the maximum and then stood up.
A man dressed in laminar armor had entered the training ground nearby and was silently waiting for Wu Guang to notice him. When the latter did, the man quickly came near and with and with a military salute explained the reason for his arrival
"Esteemed guest, the Young Lord asked me to guide you to the Smith's bazaar and after it, to visit Mister Li, the bow merchant"
"Thank you, let's go then" Wu Guang slightly nodded, and after the guard turned around followed him.
They left the manor by using one of the small side gates and after half an hour arrived at a street full of stalls and small stores.
Different from most of the common bazaars, Smith's bazaar was mostly quiet. No people announced or promoted their goods, but on the contrary, most of the vendors either quietly sat near their merchandise or were engaged in conversation between them and the people that should be the customers.
Seeing that Wu Guang showed a surprised expression, the guard explained
"The street of this bazaar is property of the city merchant guild, so any promotion is forbidden. If clients want to buy something, they will look for the item and then speak with the vendors. The left side is comprised of tool smiths while the right is for weapons. Specialized stores can be discerned by the signs on them, but almost all the better quality weapons are sold and auctioned at the guild"
"I see. My goal is to buy several low-quality weapons for light training, is it needed to choose each one?"
"Not really, you can actually hire someone from the guild to buy everything and send it to you"
"That seems good, I would like to go with that"
"Then you need to approach the group of people sitting near any of the guild stores" The guard pointed towards a small store that had a sign with a hoe and the 'Guild' character carved on it.
Nearing the entrance of the store, Wu Guang indeed noticed several men and women sitting on some benches outside of it. Right as he approached one of the women stood up and with a slight bow spoke to him
"Young master, do you want to solicit the services of a guild runner?"
"Yes"
"Understood. I am called Li Xia, and I would be honored to help if the young master hires me. What do you intend to acquire?" The young woman introduced herself while showing a wood badge with the 'Merchant' and 'Guild' characters engraved on it.
Wu Guang quickly glanced at her, seeing that her eyes had no hint of deceit he slowly spoke
"I need to buy several weapons for training, the quality can be middle or low. They are not intended for use in real combat, so the only request is that they are resistant and the price is honest"
"All prices are determined by the guild, so there should be no issue with the latter. Does young master know which weapons?"
"Yes"
"Let me write them down then" Surprisingly Li Xia took out from a small bag on her waist some paper accompanied by a portable ink tray with its quill. Normally commoners were uneducated and would not carry such items, so after she noticed Wu Guang's glance at the items, she explained
"All guild workers are required to be able to write and count"
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"Good, please take note then. One of the following - ax, big saber, small saber, short spear, long spear, staff, hammer, and sword. Also a pair of iron clubs and a set of throwing daggers"
"Anything else?"
"Does anyone sells shields around here?"
"Yes, there are several smiths that specialize in armor but bring their shields to sell here"
"Then add a cavalry shield to the list as well"
"Understood. Do you want me to buy the best available or stick for lower quality when available?"
"Does not matter, but the weapons need to be delivered today"
"Let me calculate the price" Saying this, Li Xia seemingly submerged herself in thought and after some moments said
"For lower quality weapons the total would be between 15 and 18 silver. But some of the weapons like the shield and big saber should be available only at medium quality, and the sum would ascend to about 25 silver. The amount should be paid fully up front, if the items cost less the difference will be returned alongside the items. But normally it's recommended to add some silver on top, for cases when a weapon is not available in the quality you request. My services would cost a tenth from the end sum and would be paid when the items are delivered"
"My funds for this are 35 silver, so I will give them to you fully," Said Wu Guang while taking out two gold and 15 silver coins from the wallet strapped to his belt.
Li Xia accepted the money and in return passed him her guild badge.
"The badge is proof of the transaction. If I fail to deliver the weapons, you can request the guild for compensation"
"I see"
"Where do the weapons have to be delivered?"
Here Wu Guang motioned to the guard accompanying him and the latter explained
"To the City's Lord Manor northern side gate. The guards are already notified, only mention that the weapons are intended for the lake training area"
"Understood" Li Xia answered calmly. She did not try to guess who this commonly dressed teen might be, but staying at the Lord's Manor was already hinting that he was not a simple youngster.
With this done, Wu Guang followed the guard towards the western part of the city, where the store of the merchant also surnamed Li was located. Regretfully for Wu Guang, the store was closed, and after the guard knocked several times a servant explained that his master would be not available today and the shop would remain closed. After they were told this, Wu Guang decided to return to the Manor. He would try to visit the merchant another day.
While walking towards the manor, Wu Guang noticed that there were dozens of people on the streets that did not look like residents of the city, so he asked the guard that had accompanied him during his outing. The latter simply explained that this was a normal occurrence every time that the sect opened its doors, and that in the following days the city would fill up completely.
Near the central plaza several small stands were seen and Wu Guang casually stopping at some of them bought several things. Among these things, there was a full minor quality calligraphy set and a weiqi set. He also noticed that the guard eyed a small pendant while musing something, he did want to intrude but also bought it and then passed it to the guard while saying
"I think that this would be a nice gift for a beauty, right?"
"There is no need Young Master, I could have bought it myself"
"No worries. I was thinking of buying something to express my thanks for today. Seemingly this should be a nice thing, a gift for the one in your mind"
"Thank you" The guard did not explain who was the one on his mind, but Wu Guang was not really interested, he simply wanted to somehow show his thanks to the guard, even if the latter only followed the orders of Xiao Feng.
