Entrance tests, Day 5

Entrance tests, Day 5

After thinking briefly, he took both arrows and while nocking one held the other in his teeth. Neither the disciple responsible for the examination or the clansmen said anything, but Wu Guang noticed their surprise at his actions. That surprise only grew when he let the arrow fly without his full strength and far higher than needed. The next act actually provoked the Bear clansmen's mouths to open in reaction. Wu Guang shot the last arrow right away, without taking time to aim or waiting for the previous one to hit or fall.

Only when several moments later did the last arrow hit the falling fifth right below the shaft and pushed it forwards to penetrate the target the examiner reacted by exclaiming "Five of Five". Wu Guang did not have any reaction at all, as he actually had planned for this after noting that the maximum range was about 450 feet. He had shot the fifth one a bit slower so it started falling and aligned with the target, while the last arrow with all the strength he had, even infusing a bit of qi into the arms. With this force and speed, the arrow should have been able to reach 500 feet or even a bit farter, but the aim indeed would be off at the end of the flight. So he aimed at a closer target, the other arrow falling path, 350 feet away from his position.

With his 25 points earned, Wu Guang thanked the disciple and then turned towards the clansmen who still were shocked. He did not talk with them for long, but he accepted the praise they gave and politely dismissed it citing that the last target was actually meant to be hit with a similar strategy.

Duqi expression suddenly changed as he said

"So that's why there were six arrows for five targets! We actually thought one was for the case of missing the target"

"You still got your 20 points and I think it's a good result. I will take my leave, as seemingly one has to register today for tomorrow tests"

"Regretfully none of us knows much in any of the areas, so except Lang Juan who I think will take the herbs test we will be sitting idly tomorrow"

"I see. Well, see you later" With this said Wu Guang nodded farewell and started walking towards the square area in front of the five towers left from the gate.

There, four rune plates and a notice on the center of this square could be seen. And after reading that an applicant could register for any or none of these tests and each would give out 25 points Wu Guang quickly passed his plaque by each of the plates. The theoretical exams were meant only to gain some points and could be taken in their respective towers all day. The information he read also stated that a perfect practical test would give an applicant the chance to enter directly disregarding the rank. He was not interested as both his task was to gain the maximum amount of points and the fact that his current persona could have not trained in any of these areas, so he could not explain the skills he could show. He also considered that except in the herb area using skills solely from memory could not actually show the intended results without at least some training to integrate them into the body.

With all the matters for the day finished, Wu Guang strolled the bazaar area again. As he did not find anything new, he only bought dinner and meals for the next day. After washing and eating dinner, he went to sleep.

Eating his breakfast while moving Wu Guang casually glanced at the ranking slates while passing them. The 100th place had only 155 points, while the top one had 350 and he was sure that it was his own. He was a bit surprised for the former one, as it meant that 900 or 899 considering yesterday's incident had even lower ones. Still, he only knew a few people of the ones attempting the tests, so he simply did not care about anything except confirming that he was indeed first.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Although again he was the first to arrive, the tests would be applied by Elders from the respective halls, so he had to wait for him to be called. For the moment he was called for the refining one, several people were already standing around him, including Lang Juan who he greeted before excusing himself citing the need to concentrate. This slightly disappointed the girl, but as they were not really close, would she be able to blame Wu Guang for such?

The theory about refining was endless, but the Sect did not expect a Master or Grandmaster to be among the teens, so the questions were pretty basic. He answered all of them perfectly and the Elder invited him to join the Hall if he enters the sect, which Wu Guang politely dismissed after explaining his intention of centering on the Martial path.

Similar situations repeated for the other three tests, with the exception being the Medicine hall elder. This elder went so far as to argue that any good cultivator should be able not only to kill. Wu Guang did not argue back as he actually agreed to this sentiment. And so agreed to visit the Hall, at least to learn more about medicines.

The tests took him only a quarter of an hour or so each, but between the waiting and the pauses that the Elders took between applicants he was finished only a two or so hours before sunset.

In general all tests were extremely easy, as Wu Guang could answer most of the questions by simply relying on the knowledge he got from the Blue Tree Manor resident experts. This again confirmed his initial thoughts about the overall level of development in the plane to be even lesser than for a minor plane. And as such could be explained by the fact that formations did not work and so things like refining could be done only with absolutely obsolete methods, Wu Guang confirmed the words and information he had. That formations could not be used for the last 87 years, or more exactly, from the moment of the cataclysm.

When he returned to the camping area he found out that an enormous signboard had appeared with several notices on it. After briefly scanning them, it turned to be about the end of the mortal tests and the start of the ones for applicants with previous cultivation.

Mortals could rest until the final results, while the cultivators would be tested and have the opportunity to get more points. This could sound a bit unfair, but in fact, it wasn't if one considered that they were several levels ahead of the former.

Wu Guang saw that the tests would be divided for cultivators below the peak of the 4th level, and the more advanced ones. The latter were asked to gather in the martial area where the Weapon tests had been right after sunrise. A list with the numbers of the cultivators cited was provided, and Wu Guang saw only 11 numbers apart of his own.

"Hmm, it seems that both the island and the sect are indeed between the weakest in this plane. Well, I intend to leave anyway, but for now, I need to enter and gather more information. Later I can decide if I need to move somewhere else. I would require at least the Soul realm to leave, but if I am not pressed for time... Then I would prefer to cultivate until the Sage realm in here. The Earth realm may be the limit for the realm. but judging from the lack of such cultivators on the island, there will be no way for me to reach it without leaving anyway" With these thoughts, Wu Guang returned to his place. After eating, washing, and meditating for some time, he proceeded to sleep.
