Nothing occurred during the night or during breakfast. So when Wu Guang exited the 'Three Waves' mansion the next morning, both he and the elders were sure that this was the last chance for him to be attacked.
But... he wasn't. In fact, there was not even the slightest indication of someone tailing him. He arrived at the Port Palace with no trouble and the guards and staff were already informed of his visit. So as soon he announced himself, Wu Guang was led into Lady Shenlan's office without delay.
Inside the office could be explained only as austere. It only had some maps on the walls and nothing except a table and a few chairs present. Lady Shenlan was already present and as Wu Guang entered, she indicated him towards one of the chairs in front of the table.
Before proceeding further, he saluted courteously and greeted
"Wu Guang pays his respects to Lady Shenlan"
"Sit down, there is no need for such formality. We met yesterday after all"
"I see, then with your permission" As Wu Guang said this, he walked towards one of the chairs and sat down.
"We have not met at the time, but I do remember your parents and the tragedy that befell on them. I did not have the opportunity before, so I will do it now" As Lady Shelan spoke, she got up and with a half bow proceeded
"I am sorry for failing to prevent that tragedy. Still, the culprits were found and executed by me on the spot"
Wu Guang senses told him that she was being sincere and so he quickly spoke
"Lady Shenlan, I have never considered that you or the City Lord failed to protect my family. After all, the only ones to be hated are the ones who killed"
"Still, it was a failure on my part"
"Let's leave the past in the past..."
Seemingly Lady Shenlan understood what Wu Guang meant and so returned to her seat. She was surprised to find out that the youngster in front of her acted so mature. After all, his family was killed and so normally one could expect him to blame the city. Especially as they were killed for revealing a base of the attackers to the City Lord.
Bai Qi's, Wu Guang's, and even Jason Carpenter's memories were now mixed in his mind. And so he could now really talk from either of their viewpoints. So the words he had said, were the true feelings of the original Wu Guang. But, as someone that took over the latter's life and memories, he had decided from the start to find out more about the incident. And if he could help justice to be enforced, he would do it. Still, Lady Shenlan said that the culprits were executed, and so he had no way to do so now.
"Lady Shenlan, in any case, the culprits are dead. So indeed, let's leave the matter in the past"
"I see. Well, then how may I help you?" Lady Shenlan's expression changed and surprising Wu Guang, she openly questioned his visit.
"The elders in the 'Three Hills Sect' felt that I should finish all the matters regarding my past. And by all matters, I mean solving the inheritance issue" Wu Guang did not expect such, but he was by far not a 14-year-old naive boy. So in place of working himself up, he decided to accompany Lady Shenlan in her game. After all, the City Lord was her direct liege and Elder Mo assured that full cooperation was promised.
"Indeed, I know of such matter, but I thought it was solved already?"
"I wonder who told such to Lady Shenlan? After all, I am the only inheritor and in my knowledge, it was not" Inwardly Wu Guang was surprised to hear such lies, after all, without him receiving the deeds the matter could not be solved at all.
"Well, it was the person who you sent to do it"
"I wonder what Lady Shenlan means with that... After all, I have not sent anyone. And even if I did, without my family seal no one could come on my behalf. Speaking of which, the seal was lost during the incident and it could not be restored before I inherit my family properties. Or Lady Shenlan thinks otherwise?" Wu Guang did not react at all and laid out the facts with absolute calm. Inwardly he thought that this was getting more and more interesting and actually if such happened, no wonder he wasn't attacked. After all, why kill him if he already inherited everything? The only issue was that he did not.
"Young friend, I don't know what are you talking about. I received an order from the City Lord, and a person came on your behalf. The matter is solved. But if you mean to offend me, you have already done so" Lady Shenlan put on an act of anger, and as for why it was an act? Wu Guang could easily see that she wasn't angry at all she was calm
"Oh, so that's how the City Lord ordered to solve this... I think we have nothing else to discuss" Sensing that he had no more need to play such games, Wu Guang stood up and started walking towards the exit. But before exiting, he added
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"Well, let's see then what my master thinks about the matter. And my 'Three Hills Sect' as well. Especially as they were the ones who sent me here today"
"Wait, I think this may be a misunderstanding" Lady Shenlan exclaimed and this time, Wu Guang could feel some panic in her voice.
"No need to walk me out" Wu Guang ignored Lady Shenlan and left. He knew that she would not follow behind him as it would affect her reputation. As for attacking him? Even if she did, Elder Di was near the palace. So if Wu Guang went missing for more time than the one needed for him to solve such a matter, he would search for him. Elder Di was an 8th level Soul realm cultivator, so who could stop him from it? After all, in the entire city, only the City Lord himself could boast of such cultivation.
Wu Guang quickly exited the palace and walked towards a luxurious restaurant nearby. Elder Di and Elder Yanshi were waiting for him there, sitted at a table on the first, cheapest floor. As for why there, it was actually because of their visible outer elder and disciple status.
Closing to them and sitting down, he quickly related what had happened to them.
Although Elder Yanshi wasn't privy to the details, he knew that the backing behind Wu Guang's claim was Palace Master Zhen. So he was surprised and angry at such dismissal.
Elder Di did know everything so he was the one most amazed by such. Especially as the letters sent to the City Lord contained a clear indication that the entire sect would back Wu Guang if needed.
After thinking about it for some time, Elder Di spoke
"I think it's time for us to revert to the original plan of bringing this matter directly to the City Lord's court. To make this matter so grand that nobody can sweep it under the rug. Elder Yanshi, infiltrate the archives tonight. Find out if a new deed has been issued, and if so, then who is the owner right now"
"Understood"
"And you, Wu Guang, for today go walk around, visit stores, drink, and do whatever a youngster would do in such a situation. Tomorrow we will take care of the caravan's mission and then for the following three days, you will have to concentrate on yours. Still, don't worry, before we leave the city, I guarantee you that this inheritance matter will be settled... Even if the City Lord himself does not wants to" For the first time since Wu Guang had met Elder Di, the latter revealed anger. What's more, the last part was said with such emotion that even via qi transmission Wu Guang felt that Elder Di would even force the City Lord if needed.
"Thank you"
"No need. The sect promised to solve this, and we will do so. Let's move out then, we will openly accompany you to the manor"
"Understood"
With their new, or old, plan of action decided upon, Wu Guang and the two elders left the restaurant.
After reaching the 'Three Waves' mansion, both elders told him to head out when he was ready. Elder Di would do the same as the previous day, follow him while hiding.
Regretfully his team members had already left and so could not accompany him, so only Lan Yanzhi would do.
The Autumn Riches week officially began and so there were an enormous amount of stalls even on the streets, not to mention the plazas, markets, and bazaars.
And so as Elder Di had told him, Wu Guang spent the day browsing some of them, entering shops, and even drinking in a pair of taverns.
Thankfully there were no incidents, and in fact, he even came across and bought something he wanted.
This something was nothing else than a stack of ten empty diagram scrolls. The latter could be used to create formations and were something extremely valuable, normally costing at least a qi crystal shard. Still, as formations were a myth, the scrolls were considered a collection item and so were far cheaper. Well, at least in Wu Guang's mind. After all, unusable scrolls being five gold coins each was something outrageous for other people.
Lan Yanzhi asked Wu Guang what they were. She did maintain the attitude of a servant but still wondered about such spending. In response, Wu Guang explained both the origin and usage of such scrolls. And that their real value was pretty high. And so he motivated that albeit they could not be used right now, at some point they could. So it could be considered an investment, as well that he was interested in learning more about formations.
Elder Di also saw and wondered about this. But he could not find anything to say to this, albeit inwardly he was surprised to hear that Wu Guang knew about formations. In any case, it was his money, so Wu Guang could spend it however he wanted to.
