Will was pleased by Alice's words. He did not want her to just be a support-type class. Qiankun Scholar was not a simple class, and she was not a simple person.
'Ambition is half of the journey.'
If there was one thing Will appreciated, it was following one's ambitions without the worry of reprisal. Alice did not have much combat ability, but that did not stop her from wanting to be strong. Hattori Hanzo was Musashi's Third Ring and an extremely powerful user who had already gone past level 125. But Alice was not afraid.
"If you guys want to tread this path with me, then tell me your goals. Alice has stated hers."
Letty was the first to answer Will's question, "I want to take revenge for what happened to my father and the Frozen Asgard Sect."
Letty's first words did not shock Will much because he knew her story. Her father had abused the system of rights to make her life miserable.
The system of rights was one of the most powerful abilities a user can have. When one became a King, Emperor or Sovereign for a certain amount of time, they would gain these abilities. The amount of time varies from person to person, and no one knew what criteria the system used, but according to Letty's understanding, the more talented a user was, the quicker they got to qualify for a right.
A right was, by effect, an ability that affected everyone within your domain. Take, for example, Golden Lord. He was the ruler of Africa in its entirety; thus, if he did use a right, all of the users residing in Africa would be affected.
Different rulers had different rights. Kings only have one right, and that is cultural direction. When activated, this right allowed a King to roughly affect the type of classes new users would gain in his domain. That's all Letty knew about it. This was a rather vague description, but it was all she knew about it. It was simply called the King's Right.
Emperors had 3 rights. They were called Mandates. Emperor's First, Second and Third Mandates. A Mandate could affect an entire continent's worth of people, whether they were in your domain or not. Only one continent can be targeted by one Mandate. The only Mandate that Letty knew was the Mandate of Execution. This was a list of users. Any User who killed anyone on that list would be given experience as if they had killed a demonic beast. The experience given depends on the User killed, but the rewards were incredibly generous.
Sovereigns had 5 rights; each called a law. But Letty knew only one law, the Call to Arms Law. It forcefully rallied the entire planet against a common enemy. And it could only be freely used by the First Sovereign. For the other two to use it, they needed permission from another Sovereign.
According to Letty, behind Eridium, there was a superpower, one which not only ruined her life but trillions of lives across the galaxy. This superpower had managed to convince her father to use the Mandate of Execution on her and her mother.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Long story short, during the first years of her life Letty and her mother were hunted down like prey. Due to the huge reward for their slaughter, they were constantly on the run. Eventually, Letty's mother had enough and willingly gave herself up in exchange for Letty's safety and her gaining the status of a princess.
Will had no idea what the superpower behind Eridium was. Now that he knew, he could not help but smile.
'Modus definitely had a hand in this.'
If one told Will that Modus did not have a hand in having him become enemies with the Frozen Asgard Sect at this point, Will would refuse to listen.
"Your enemy is my enemy. The Frozen Asgard Sect already have enmity with me. So I have your back."
Will's words reassured Letty. At first, she was worried that Will might back down; after all, the Frozen Asgard Sect was the strongest mortal power in their section of Modus' territory. Letty had even pondered leaving because she was afraid that she would drag everyone into a dangerous conflict. After all, the Sect was quite ruthless and unforgiving. But Will had made his stance clear. He was on her side.
"I'm not a fan of fighting losing battles, so trust me when I say we have a shot of taking those arrogant pricks. It's a bit far-reaching, but we have a shot."
After comforting Letty, Will looked at Duke, and the latter did not disappoint, "Honestly, I didn't have a goal before we came here besides being someone famous. But now I do. I want to actually take down a real sun!"
Duke's goal was just as outrageous as Letty's, if not worse. Will whistled in admiration. Hou Yi was a deity famous for shooting down nine suns. Although Duke only targeted one, that did not make any of his dreams less preposterous. Earth education allowed its users to know just what a star was and just how large one was. Earth's sun was a relatively small star in the scope of the universe, but it was still countless times larger than Earth.
'This guy has cajones.' Will mused.
Duke looked at the sun-like orb Merlin had created and reached out for it, "I don't know if it's because of the sun chasing legacy or if it's just my head, but for some reason, I have the urge to take down stars. Anything resembling a star like that orb up there catches my attention."
Will clapped his hands and nodded in approval. Realistic dreams were the death of an adventurer, Will believed. His own goal of ascending to immortality was even more far-fetched than others. Nevertheless, he had never given up because Modus' presence gave him a chance. That's all he needed—a chance.
"I want to find out what happened to my dad," said Woodsy with a sad face. Will remembered how the Tidal Supreme had been involved in the murder of Woodsy's father. Her hatred of the empire for executing her father was what drove her to jump ship. It was a more realistic and grounded goal, but in Will's opinion, it made Woodsy the most frightening of the group because she was in touching distance of her goal.
"I just want to be free. My life has always been dictated by others, and I don't have much of a dream. So I guess you could say my dream is to find a dream."
Merlin felt like the odd one out since she did not have a clear-cut objective. Will shook his head and said, "The desire to be free is a dream that has motivated many incredible people. No need to be ashamed. Be proud because at least you know the value of freedom."
Merlin smiled and nodded. Tobias. Achilles and Lyra looked at each other and nodded. Achilles spoke for the trio and said, "We want Tsimikas to become a powerful nation!"
A simple yet admirable dream. Will nodded to show his agreement, "As long as you give your all to our cause, it's possible."
"What's your dream boss?" asked Woodsy with a curious gleam in her eye. Everyone present perked up at this moment. As their leader, his dream would without a doubt be the most important one, driving their every action.
Will sighed and breathed out slowly, "My dream is to marry the woman of my dreams."
Will's words struck the group with shock.
'He is motivated by love?'
It was the simplest and most honest dream they had ever heard. Will had made it clear that he fought to protect his family and home, but he definitely had a more personal driving force behind his actions. Never would anyone have guessed that it was something as simple as love.
'That shouldn't be a hard dream for a Natural Sovereign to achieve, right?'
The group could not help their curiosity. Thus, the person closest to Will, Duke, asked what everyone was thinking, "Who is the lucky lady?"
Will looked at the sky and sighed, "She is an immortal."
