Under normal circumstances, a savage creature from dungeons would attack without fail. Many experiments had been carried out to try and figure out why these creatures would attack humans without even thinking twice. Yet no results had come up. It was not a matter of hunger, nor was it survival, it was pure instinct for these beasts to kill humans without discretion.
Yet the Helios War Bear stopped right in front of the duo. It stood on its two legs and went upright, looking down on the two tiny humans. It was not sure what the issue was, but something about the white-haired human made it feel uncomfortable, so it decided to be cautious and observe.
A cautionary expression came upon its face as it looked at the duo. The bear scratched its huge head in thought. Duke was stunned by the human-like behavior the creature was exhibiting.
Will smiled knowingly at the creature's amusing behavior. Gone was the menacing aura that could frighten many a man, instead, what was before the boys was what seemed like a lost puppy.
"Water douses fire and washes away the earth. Modus was right." Will mumbled while observing the bear. He was well aware of what was causing this odd behavior.
Will was constantly thinking of ways to use and understand intent, but he didn't really have a path he could use. He was merely fumbling about, like a baby learning how to walk. The bear's actions were the result of his latest venture.
When Will first entered the volcanic dungeon he had an idea. He released water intent into the surroundings, trying to see the effects. From the beginning, till now it had shown no effects. Will had easily slaughtered his way up, but the water intent had nothing to do with it. All Will did was bombard the monsters with water blades and his custom technique, Suijin no Ikari.
The bear's reaction to his presence was interesting because it only slowed down when it entered the range of Will's intent bombardment. Will could feel the creature's unease and discomfort. It was quite obvious that the beast was not sure what was happening.
'The creatures before were probably too weak to even register the intent.'
Intent was the hallmark of the strong. The weak had no hope of using it let alone sense it. So it made sense to Will that only a high ranking dungeon boss was affected by his actions.
Despite this, Will wasn't able to get another reaction out of the bear. In other words, it was too weak.
'Well, at least it reacted.'

Duke saw Will causally draw his sword and swing it, before putting it back in its scabbard.
'What the heck is he...'
While trying to figure what Will was doing, a large noise brought him back to earth.
*Boom!*
"Gyaahhoooo, oh shit!"
Duke thought the bear had done something so he covered his eyes and screamed in an odd manner. Indeed the bear was the cause of the sound, but not in the way he expected.
A large decapitated head the size of a house was lying right next to the bear's still standing corpse. Before he could process what had happened, the bear's body started to disintegrate into light particles that went into Will's body. This was the standard procedure for getting experience after killing a monster within a dungeon.
Duke was no fool, so he put two and two together. He looked at Will and realized that he was not with someone normal.
"Now let's check out the loot." Will chimed as he walked over to the shiny loot the bear had left behind. Under normal circumstances, demonic beasts would leave loot after death. In King Yama's gate, Will was under special circumstances so he didn't have this option, but such a scenario did on exist anymore.
When Will was killing his way up, he picked up a lot of loot. He only cared about Dans and skill books. If it was useful he would use it. If not he kept it in his ring. Will had learned dozens of skills already from skill books which he was itching to practice with. For now, however, he focused on the loot ahead.
The bear had only dropped 3 things after death, but each object was worth drooling over.

Will was ecstatic with what he received. Without delay, he swallowed the Iron Bone Dan. Hot energy showered his body, causing it to change at the cellular level. It was quite obvious that within seconds, his body had been strengthened a lot. Will was a bit disappointed because he expected something similar to when he first got his classes. But unfortunately, nothing of that sort happened.
'Guess I will only notice when I properly fight.'
Immediately after that, Will took the Herculean Strength Dan, the effect was slightly different. A sharp pain spread all over his body, making it feel as if his muscles were being stretched and contracted forcefully. A normal person would be screaming in agony, but Will was a user of intent. All he did was frown slightly. After an entire minute, the pain subsided.
Will opened and closed his fist. He felt full of energy and power like never before. Now he felt like he could take on that bear with just his bare hands.
'I have to get accustomed to this strength though.'
As Will was lost in thought, an idea suddenly sprung up in mind. He remembered the reward he had gotten from killing the warhog. He brought the skill book out of his ring and couldn't help but smile.
