Will prided himself in many aspects. His sword skills, intent, yuan, and speed were all top notch considering earth's standards, but his body's strength and defensive capabilities were lacking in comparison. It went without saying that the two dans he had just received dealt with something that had been bothering for a while, albeit superficially.
This Primordial Refinement book, however, was in a whole different league. Will had no idea what a Primordial Paragon was, but it sounded impressive. Will decided to learn the book. All he had to do was inject some of his energy into it and he would learn the skill as the book dissipates into nothingness. When he learned what the skill really was, however, Will couldn't help but frown.
'I am so screwed.'
Before he could ruminate over what was troubling him, Duke's voice brought him out of his train of thought.
"Uhm, excuse me."
Will scratched his head and smiled wryly.
"Sorry about that bro, got a bit carried away."
Seeing Will's humble attitude, Duke couldn't help but laugh internally. To Duke Will was a powerhouse on top of the world, if Duke could get on his good side, perhaps form some sort of relationship, then Duke would have some backing in this crazy world. Will's odd but amiable way of talking only further reinforced this idea.
Duke waived his hands in a reassuring manner. "No apology needed haha."
'The stronger someone is, the cockier they are.'
This was common sense for most. Will was a user capable of killing a 3-star dungeon boss with one casual hit. Yet he apologized to Duke as if they were on the same level.
'This guy is weird. But fuck that he is strong, I need to get in his good books somehow, how can I'
"Bro I have something I need to ask you. But before that, tell me how well informed you are about the world."
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
Duke was surprised by Will's question. The more powerful someone was, the more likely they were informed about the world.
"Ehem, I am an information broker actually." Said Duke with an awkward cough.
Will crossed his arms in doubt, this man looked really shady. "Really now."
"O-of course! Granted I only started dealing in information a few weeks ago but I'm better than the majority of the information brokers out there. I even have a few connections at the local IB."
Will was suspicious and raised a brow, nevertheless, it couldn't help to test the boy.
"Alright, tell me what you know about Golden Lord."
Duke couldn't help but draw in cold breath.
'He had to start with a hard one...'
Golden Lord was one of the mysterious users in the world, despite the fact that he was one of the most talked about. He was the leader of King rankings. In other words, no user on earth had a higher level than him.
One could exist on any list. What made Golden Lord so special was that he was the only user who has always been on both the Emperor and King rankings. He was the second Emperor and first King. This made him one of the most feared beings on earth.
Most speculated that he was the strongest user outside of the Sovereigns. The leader of the Emperor rankings, Genesis, did not have as high a level, so most believed that the Golden Lord was stronger. Yet little was known about him.
All that was known was that he came from Africa, from a country called Zimbabwe. Within two years of the system's arrival, he already had southern Africa under his complete control, and after four years, the rest of the continent was his.
He was the only user on earth known to have complete control of a major continent. After taking over Africa, he shut it off from the rest of the world completely. Entry isn't hard, but leaving is impossible. He doesn't interfere in world affairs and keeps quiet, resulting in little being known about him.
Duke massaged his temples, trying to think of what to say. Information on Golden Lord was just too difficult to come by.
"Ah yes I have something," Duke exclaimed after a while. "Recently there is a rumor going around saying that Golden Lord used the King's right. Although I am not sure how valid that is. From my understanding, this rumor should be 60% true." Said Duke with a thoughtful face.
"Okay, I have another question."
"Sure, go ahead."
"What the heck is a King's right?"
Duke slapped himself to make sure that he didn't mishear that. But no matter how many times he did, Will's confused face did not disappear.
"Dude, is something wrong with you?" Will asked. After all, one doesn't slap themselves for no reason.
Duke smiled and raised his hands reassuringly. "Ehem, no problem. Before I answer that question, let me understand something real quick. You don't know what a King's right is?"
Will frowned. He thought it was pretty obvious. "Why would I ask if I knew, are you okay in the head bro?"
"I'm okay, I'm okay, assure you. Sigh this will take a while. Anyway..."
The explanation didn't take long. Duke was interested in Will's response so he waited, only for the latter to jump to the skies, heading out of sight within an instant.
'Well, that was rude. But then again, he is strong enough to be rude.'
...
Letty stood by the beach waiting for Will. She saw him jumping down from the sky on his ice sheets. It took only a moment for Will to make a quick landing.
"Letty, before you say anything, I want you to listen carefully. Tell me everything you know about the system of rights. I mean everything. Go." Wills serious tone put Letty in an awkward position.
She wanted to ask how his dungeon hunting went. She wanted to inform him about the changes she had made. She wanted to talk about a lot of things, yet Will was asking her about something most users already knew. Letty wanted to ask why, put Wills serious face made her gulp.
'Wow, he is serious.'
"Understood. Sovereigns, Emperor's and Kings on the rankings all have a unique ability that they can use unique to their systems. These are the so-called rights. First, let's start off with the right of kings."
