She thought she wouldn’t experience Sahara blinked…
…What?
more horror, but she did…
…Talon...Samuel!
Even though she wasn’t completely sure that she said those names, as her hearing seemed to start playing up on her, Sahara teleported.
She had to make sure that they were alright!
But…
Thump!
In Talon’s study…
It was more…
Thump! Thump!
All she heard…Was her heart…Thumping…
Again…Talon’s throat had been cut…Just like Zeus’s…Just like her daughter’s…
Sahara felt like seconds dragged on, as she put her hands to her head and even pulled at her hair…
His form was already lifeless, already out of her control…
Thump!
Sahara felt like breathing was no longer involuntary…She had to work hard to breath in, to get air into her lungs and to breath back out…
Sahara took deep breaths, but it didn’t work. Just one look…One look and she knew! She couldn’t help! She was practically an expert now with the human body, she could mend wounds in a jiffy, she could restore lungs, fix the spinal cord, get rid of poison. But…She was utterly useless! His heart had already stopped, and his breathing had seized some time ago.
I’m fucking useless!
Squeezing her eyes shut, Sahara put her hand to her mouth and looked away.
No!
Not Talon!
Thump!
…Sahara can’t remember the next ten minutes after this…
When Sahara gets told later, by Steven, she went into hysterics. She called out her daughter’s name, Talon’s name and Zeus’s name, putting her hands out to reach out for them, like she was in the dark…
She cried very loudly, and punched at the ground like she was mad…
When she came too…She was outside, Naruto licking her and Steven hugging her tight.
He got so worried that he raced her away from the area and Sahara was still shaking uncontrollably.
“Zeus…”
Was it real!?
Thump!?
“I’m sorry, Sahara.” Steven whispered.
Sahara didn’t hear him…Even though he was right next to her ears…
“…Talon…” Sahara mumbled, feeling herself breathing even more heavier. Her eyes wide, yet full of tears.
Steven didn’t look at her but shook his head sadly.
…She hadn’t seen Samuel…Perhaps…Perhaps he’s ok…
“Samuel?” Sahara asked, with a bit of hope inside of her.
Steven shook his head again, finally looking at Sahara, “The killer, got Zeus first, then went to Talon and Samuel…Then…Disappeared. We can’t find him.”
Thump!
She let out a sharp breath.
What the hell!? This was…A joke right…
Sahara stood up and wiped her eyes, “Ah! I think I had a nightmare and slept walked…”
Steven sadly looked at her, “Sahara?”
She let out a breath and shook her head, “Maybe it’s wedding jitters…”
Taking her into his arms, Steven sadly repeated that…They were gone…They were…Really gone…
Thump!
No!
She doesn’t…
Then she remembered, she saw Talon…She saw Zeus!
She saw their throats mercilessly cut and their bodies having been lifeless! The feeling of being utterly useless returned back to her and Sahara nearly broke down once again. Their bodies fell into her head side by side…First her daughter, then Zeus and then Talon. Strangely, she felt like she was so weak that she couldn’t even picture Samuel there as well, that since she hadn’t seen him, maybe she could think he was still alive…But she knew what that was, she knew she was in denial…Yet, Sahara still could not go and see his body, instead she shook her head repeatedly. As it was, she was hardly keeping herself together!
Thump!
Her daughter…Zeus, Talon…Samuel…Wasn’t it all the same?
Her daughter had been her life, and Sahara had taken her instincts…Zeus, her friend, just ready to start his life, but now his life was gone…Talon, her true one and only father…Gone…Her brother…
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
It was only just last night, that Samuel had picked her up and turned her around, smiling at her…Talon, they shared a smile and Zeus…
Oh god…Wasn’t this because of me!?
“Master! Stop it!”
Thump!
Sahara blocked off the strange noise in her head…How…Why had she trusted their words! She shouldn’t have…If she hadn’t, wouldn’t Talon, Samuel and Zeus still be alive!?
Even though she vaguely remembered hearing about this ‘killer’, Sahara feared her past…She feared what had happened before…She feared that just because of her, their life’s have been snuffed out!
In Sahara’s previous life…Her daughter hadn’t been the only one that died…No…A few others had too…
Wasn’t this…Exactly the same!? Why had she trusted those words! Why!?
Steven was trying to talk to Sahara, the voices in her head were trying to talk to her too…But she had strangely gotten into a zone where she was sadly thinking of what she was going to do…
…What am I going to do!? I was exactly what that woman said! I’m bad luck! She…Was right!
Obviously, people around her are still getting hurt…People she cared about…
She still seemed to…Give others bad luck…
Thump!
What other explanation is there?
Even if there was a ‘killer’…Who was it? Where are they? How can she…Isn’t it plain obvious that they are targeting her? If she is close to others and it isn’t even her bad luck, wouldn’t they just die anyway, because of this ‘killer’ that got away!?
Sahara was suddenly confused to her own thoughts…Why didn’t it make sense? Nothing made sense! What is it she was thinking about anyway? The fact is, she is connected to all three victims, and they are gone…That was fact!
The want to get vengeance was high, the want to have the people back that she cared about most, was also high.
Why would someone want to kill Zeus, then Talon and Samuel? They were all connected to her, they were her family…
Sahara cared about them very…Much…
Then another she cared about, came into her mind, and she went wide eyed once again and had trouble breathing.
Thump!
Sahara put a hand to her heart and fell to the ground…
She felt like she was losing consciousness, but she tried to calm down…
After a couple of minutes, Sahara tried to think calmly…
There was at least one other…One other that she cared for very deeply…
Many times, she closed her eyes and opened them again, many times did she stop herself from letting tears out of her eyes.
She had to be strong…
No…She had to be stronger!
Thump!
After a tormenting, traumatizing hour, Sahara wasn’t completely herself, nor was she well…But, she had a mission to do.
As much as it hurt her to do what she was going to do, Sahara couldn’t let any more people die…Because of her…And, through all the thoughts lingering inside of her. She couldn’t come up with anything else.
She needed time, she wanted time…Whether it was to calm down, then mourn and be able to move forward or to find this ‘killer’…She needed time!
Sahara had trouble hearing Steven, when he asked what she was going to do. So, he had to nearly yell out what he said, for her to hear it…
She told him to get that net, not caring that she felt like she had raised her voice to answer him. For some reason…She needed, or wanted…That net…It was the last thing that Talon had done for her after all but, it was also…
When Steven tried to stay instead, Sahara angrily told him to go…Hell, if someone came for her…Wouldn’t it be better for everyone anyway? She didn’t particularly want protection at the moment…Besides, she had that much anger brewing inside of her, that she wanted someone to come at her! Let them if they dare!
Thump!
Just go and get it please…I need time…To calm down…
Taking deep breaths and deciding on keeping her thoughts to herself, Sahara focused on the times that Matthew and she had been together.
She needed to put that upfront at this moment…
She needed to remind herself why she was leaving…
The urge to see him one last time was really strong…
Sahara bit her lip in frustration, as she knew that she might not even show herself in front of him ever again. How could she!?
She was bad luck! Bad luck to a point…Where people died! Life is snuffed out, forever leaving this world…
If it was any other kind of bad luck…But it wasn’t…
Sahara had always found it strange when she read books and watched anime, on how the mc would always have friends and be stronger…Actually, she found it ironic.
She totally understood that they became stronger, and that they would be happier. They would grow in wanting to protect those they cared about and here she was…Trying to always stay away from people.
All she had in her previous life, was her daughter and sister, that she let herself get close too. Sahara didn’t let anyone else in…
The strange feeling that she felt…Was because she wasn’t exactly lonely, and she wasn’t regretting not being around people. She knows that people like to have friends, they want a partner to spend the rest of their lives with, but she got over that and got used to being on her own…
It seemed almost sad, that for Sahara to protect the people that she cared for, seems to need her to stay away from them. It was at her house that someone hurt their foot, by falling down the stairs. It was at her place that someone was going away from, when they were in a car crash. It was her, the last person someone saw, before they lost their hearing for life. It was once again her, when someone wanted to talk to, before they killed themselves…
And now, in this life, well the only thing that had told her this bad luck had disappeared, was the voice inside her head. Fair enough they also agreed with the theory that she had with previously, with herself being bad luck, but why had she trusted them when they said that she wasn’t bad luck any longer?
Since being here, Gabriella had treated her like crap, Sahara nearly got poisoned to death, but when she was on her own, in the vast land area, nothing had happened…Oh…She guessed Talon was unwell, but was that her fault? He didn’t die…It’s so confusing! Does she believe, with all this evidence? Or does she believe that this was just something coincidental?
Is it…That…She was meant to be alone in this life too? She was better off with no one by her side? Does that mean…She even has to say goodbye to Steven now?
Sahara looked out into the horizon, watching the sun start to set.
I can’t see me being any kind of mc that people would want to read about. Who would want to know about someone that felt like they had to be alone? Who would understand? Why am I suddenly thinking of books again? Books are…Not real…I guess it doesn’t matter, who cares…I just don’t want any more people to die because of me…
…And even though there are two sides to every story, no more harm comes to those that Sahara does care about in Green Haven in her absence, after she makes the decision and follows through with it…Is it coincidence or fate?
Steven returned, it hadn’t been easy to get the net, as it was in Talon’s study and they wanted to know why he wanted it and what it would be used for…Sadly, it was the last thing that Talon received before his death and Steven couldn’t bring himself to tell Sahara that…He just couldn’t…
After seeing Sahara go into hysterics the way she had, he found that she was so sad to the loss…As it was, her hands had blood and dirt all over them, from her punching the ground…Some of that dirt and blood had found itself elsewhere on her too, like through her hair or on her face and…Sahara looked like she had no idea. It seems like the last thing on her mind that she looked like she was wounded in about three places and hadn’t bathed for a week.
While trying to calm her down before, she hadn’t even noticed her hands being treated to at the same time. She wouldn’t stop trembling and muttering things that he didn’t understand and hear properly. It had been scary, even for Steven, as Sahara felt like she was miles away, even though she had been in his arms. He felt like…He was losing her…
What he didn’t understand, was why she wanted the net right now, at this moment…
Couldn’t they wait? Perhaps until tomorrow? Why now?
Giving Sahara the net, Steven couldn’t help but get upset at Sahara’s face.
She had cried, but for three people that were close to her that had suddenly perished, he thought she would cry more. Yet, at this moment, she looked like she was starting to get under control again.
“Thank you.”
Then…
She looked at him…And it was like she was dead inside…
“I…What I’m about to tell you, I don’t care if you like it or not.”
It was true, she was shutting off her feelings, she didn’t care if he cared…
“What…What is it you want to do?” Steven asked, worried…
Sahara shook her head a bit, unable to know what he said, “What?”
Steven looked around and then repeated himself a little louder, getting even more worried about her. He was absolutely sure that he was talking normally and that she seemed to have hearing problems suddenly…
He was right though, Sahara could hardly hear him…All she heard is ‘Thump! Thump!’.
“…I’m going to leave with the intention of never come back.”
That’s right…If she wasn’t around, then Matthew will live a long life…And…She needed him to be alive. That was her solution to the problem of her being ‘bad luck’ to those around her and keeping Matthew safe…
