Chapter 957

Chapter 957:

He frowned again. “New clothes?”

Alicia remembered Jaida mentioning the nerve confusion caused by the anesthesia and decided to play along. “Yes, new clothes.”

Caden sighed, his tone serious yet drowsy. “Why are you dressed like this? Are you trying to cosplay as my doctor?”

“Yes,” she replied flatly, humoring him.

“Why did you choose something like this?” He gave her a weak smile. “If you don’t like being a nurse, maybe try a white coat next time. This… This makes it hard to tell if you’re male or female.”

Alicia stared at him, dumbfounded. Her sadness evaporated instantly, replaced by an expressionless look. Sensing her annoyance, Caden amended weakly, “It’s not you—it’s the clothes. You’ll always be beautiful to me no matter what you wear.”

Alicia remained silent, unimpressed.

Talking seemed to exhaust Caden. After a pause to catch his breath, he smirked faintly and muttered, “But how do we play in these clothes? I’m the patient, and you’re…” Before he could finish his suggestive remark, Alicia covered his mouth, exasperated but laughing. Even in his weakened state, his mind was stuck on such thoughts.

She scolded him lightly in her thoughts, but her heart softened as she saw how worn out he looked. “Caden, get some rest,” she urged gently.

Caden was too tired to argue. The pain from the wound and the lingering effects of the anesthesia had left him in a weakened state. “Lucky.” Gripping her hand loosely, he murmured, “When I wake up, I’ll be my usual self again.”noveldrama

Alicia was at a loss for words. He still remembered feeling weak before he passed out.

Alicia smiled faintly. “Alright. Once you’re better, we can have a three-day marathon, okay?”

She laughed at her joke, knowing such a feat would exhaust even the most energetic person.

Caden’s recovery was swift. Thanks to his good condition, he was discharged in less than a week and returned to Warrington to rest.

On the day of his discharge, Alicia arrived to pick him up. It was noon, and the sun streamed brightly into his hospital room as he changed out of his gown.

Midway through, his phone rang. With one hand on the phone and the other unbuttoning his shirt, he answered the call, his tone quickly turning sharp.

Standing behind him, Alicia cleared her throat softly. Caden turned to look at her, his irritation melting at the sight of her. He quickly wrapped up the call.

Alicia approached with fresh clothes and handed them to him.

Standing boldly in the sunlight, Caden paid little attention to his surroundings as he slipped off his shirt. Alicia’s eyes couldn’t help but linger on his broad shoulders and toned chest. His skin glowed, and somehow, his nipples caught her attention.

Before she realized it, her hand reached out to touch him.
