"I get all the reasons, but I just can't wrap my head around it!"
"Like it or not, you have to accept it! This is the path your brother believes is best for you."
William fixed Harold with a serious gaze. He had spent years by Gordon's side, watching him pour his heart and soul into revenge. Gordon wasn't just carving out a path for himself but was doing it for the two people he cherished most.
In this world, there was no one William respected more than Gordon.
"Now that you're in the loop, you need to hold onto this role with everything you've got. Don't let your uncles outshine you. You know how formidable the Aldridge family is, with all those uncles and cousins of yours," William said, giving Harold's shoulder a reassuring pat. "The journey ahead is long and challenging."
Harold stayed quiet.
"Should we keep this from Sophie?"
"Absolutely, don't breathe a word to Sophie!"
William's face changed, "Telling others is one thing, but if Sophie finds out, I'm finished!"
"But doesn't he realize Sophie would be heartbroken? How can he just stand by and let that happen?"
"Heartbreak is fleeting," William replied. "Birth, aging, sickness, and death are just part of life. If he were around, how would Sophie and Colby deal with it? Besides, things between them have changed."
Gordon wasn't the same Gordon anymore, and Sophie wasn't who she used to be either.
Their relationship couldn't go back to what it was. If it couldn't, then staying strangers was the best option.
His death now means at least Sophie wouldn't suffer too much.
"I get it," Harold said. "I'll keep it under wraps."
"That's good to hear."
Seeing Harold had no further questions, William quickly said, "I've got stuff to take care of, so I'm off."
With that, William made a swift exit from the hospital room.
Outside, a car had been waiting.
William hopped in, pulled the listening device off his coat, and tossed it to Rick in the driver's seat. "So, how'd I do?" "Not too shabby."noveldrama
Rick handed a red envelope to William. "Here's your reward from the boss."
"No need! We're like brothers, aren't

When he opened the envelope and saw what was inside, William's jaw nearly hit the floor. "For me? A house deed?!"
"You've worked hard over the years. Does Mr. William find this house satisfactory?"
"Satisfied? I'm thrilled!"
"But didn't Mr. William just say he didn't want it..."
"I meant, you don't have to be so formal!"
William cradled the envelope like it was a treasure, his heart brimming with joy. "But seriously, why did you want me to tell Harold that Mr. Gordon is still alive?"
Rick replied, "The boss said as long as the second young master knows he's alive, he'll push himself to make the Aldridge family thrive because he knows the boss is somewhere out there, watching him achieve great things for the family."
