To the bigwigs' shock, Marlow smiled and left without snapping at Sue!
If it were anyone else, he would definitely be threatening them before using money to crush their existence.noveldrama
However, the game has changed as Sue now possessed technology that could possibly change the whole world, and even a man like Marlow had to defer to her now. Instead of getting upset, he should be thinking how he should curry her favor.
And if that was the case for Marlow, it went without saying that it was the same for everyone else.
They all promptly excused themselves, worried that they would end up upsetting the temperamental heiress.
Sue smiled in wry amusement as she watched them go and turned to Frank. "It's quite the miracle I earned their respect. Not even my dad has such privilege." Frank smiled but said nothing-such was the perks of a winning hand.
Still, he warned, "You have to be careful-they may fawn over you, but they might also stab you in the back or take control of this facility. Either way, be prepared."
"Don't worry!" Sue puffed her chest proudly. "I've invited some elite fighters to keep watch of this place the average person would never dare intrude. Would you believe me if I told you that it's a group of nuns, but they're just so strong!" "Nuns?"
Frank was suddenly reminded of the monastery of nuns that Sally York had encountered before.
Surely it could not be them? But Shanton was only that huge a place...
"What, are you interested?" Sue giggled. "Give up already. They've already made their vows, so you can have me instead of tempting them!"
Frank snorted in annoyance. "Stop it. It's just that I've met a group of nuns before and granted them some of the spiritron vein's powers, and you just reminded me of them!"
"Really?" Sue asked in curiosity. "Is their abbess Sister Hilda?"
"I actually have no idea. But I guess we'll find out.
They had nothing else to do anyway, so Sue led Frank to the adjacent compound, and Frank immediately noticed a familiar figure.
It was the nun who had been waiting at the lobby for him before. Still, she looked sharp now that she swapped her habit for a suit.
"It's you!" the nun exclaimed in delight and promptly called out, "Sisters! It's Mr. Frankton!"
The nuns all rushed to the scene, enthusiastically pulling him into the cottage while leaving Sue out to dry.
She followed after them, teasing, "I actually thought you sisters had no care for the mundane. But I guess you'd get enthusiastic when you see a hunk too!"
Hilda, the abbess, had been meditating.
She smiled despite Sue's teasing and said, "You might not be aware, Ms. Fisher, but this gentleman has been gracious to us. We'd be breaking our vows if not for him, so forgive us if we showed bias
"Bias? You sure it's just that?" Sue raised a brow and smiled.
Hilda ignored her and turned to Frank. "By the way, what brings you to Shanton, Mr. Frankton? And how did you come to meet Ms. Fisher?"
"I'll keep it brief." Frank shrugged.
"The spiritron vein offered guidance
in her research efforts on
regeneration. That's why I'm here,
before running into you by chance again!"
"Was she... experimenting with you?"
Hilda and the nuns were shocked-though they were religious, they still had some extent of medical knowledge.
How could an experiment like that succeed?
"You're doubting me, huh?"
Sue puffed her chest proudly. "I'll be frank-this man now possesses powerful regeneration abilities, and in the near future, he might outlive the sun!" "Really?" Hilda and the nuns were still skeptical.
