Chapter 898

Chapter 898:

“No, I think I am indeed your lover.” His tone carried a mix of tenderness and tipsy confidence.

Alicia sighed, shaking her head. “You remind me of Cade.” Her comparison stung.

Ever since her return, she had treated him like he was nothing. The only time her eyes sparkled was when she talked about Cade.

“I’m better than that dog,” Caden shot back, a hint of irritation creeping into his voice. “Touch me as much as you want. I won’t shed any fur.”

Alicia couldn’t help but laugh through her tears, her smile finally breaking free.

“So, if I call you Cade, will you respond?” she asked playfully.

“Of course.”

“Then prove it,” she said, cradling his face. “Cade.”

“Yeah,” he replied, his voice low.

“Not like that. Cade wouldn’t respond so weakly.”

Caden smirked, mischief glinting in his eyes. “You’ll need to kiss me, and then I’ll have the strength to respond loudly.”

Alicia hesitated. She suspected that he wasn’t as drunk as he seemed, though his gaze remained hazy.

Still, she leaned in and kissed him. “Cade,” she said again softly.noveldrama

Caden licked his lips, a playful glint in his eyes. “Do I need to sound more like him?”

Alicia rolled her eyes, ready to end the charade, but Caden added before she could, “When Cade reacts, his tail wags like crazy. What about me?”

Her brows furrowed in confusion until she noticed his gaze shift downward.

She followed it and froze, realizing what he meant.

Caden chuckled, his voice teasing. “Does it matter if a dog’s tail is in front? If you want to see it wag, you must give it some attention.”

Under the effects of the medicine, Caden let himself go and turned up the charm. But his flirtations were all verbal. He wouldn’t actually make a move on Alicia.

Before, Caden had been bold, relying on Alicia’s affection for him and having sex with her whenever and wherever he wanted. Now his desires went beyond mere physical contact. He wanted to capture her heart as well.

To some observers, his behaviour may have seemed respectful, giving Alicia the power to make her own choices. But in reality, he was simply flirting and dropping playful hints. In essence, he was trying to woo her.

That evening, Alicia seemed to get into the game, responding to his playful remarks.

Eventually, however, Caden became so exhausted that he fell asleep. He slept soundly for eight hours and woke up feeling refreshed, completely free of any hangover. The bed beside him was empty, but the faint scent of Alicia’s hair lingered in the air. They both used the same shampoo, but somehow Alicia’s scent was always a little more enticing, and Caden found himself longing to be enveloped in that scent, wishing he could absorb it completely.
