Chapter 199 - Only Goodness and Mercy 4

Time slowed down for Joshua.

His ability to sense incoming death made him notice the lightning bean that pierced through the hull of the skyship. Archie and Eiya sat near where the lighting beam came.

They weren’t able to react. Archie felt the beam and tried turning his whole body into a rock. But that railgun tore half of his body diagonally. His flesh was cauterized.

Eiya couldn’t even shout as she got cut diagonally in half by the railgun beam. She wasn’t able to react. The railgun continued and hit Alexander.

The beam didn’t tear through Alexander. He somehow was able to tank the attack and slid his body out of the beam. He was able to escape death.

But the cockpit was torn in half. Alexander used his left palm to rush at Joshua who was staring mindlessly at the railgun beam.

The cockpit exploded. The debris from the explosion hit Alexander but he didn’t show any pain. He merely grabbed Joshua who got knocked out and charged out of the skyship.

The skyship crashed down and moments later it exploded. Alexander spread his limbs while trying to gauge where the attack came from. He saw a lone figure approaching. He didn’t know who the lone figure was but it was obvious that the lone figure was the one that attacked them.

“A fucking railgun, a fucking railgun damn it!” Alexander gritted his teeth. He looked down and felt that gravity was doing its job. He pushed his palm forward and an invisible force pushed him upwards. This allowed him to balance himself and prepare for landing.

Joshua had fainted. Alexander gestured with his left hand and translucent barrier protected and ensured Joshua’s safe landing. It was not perfect, however, and Joshua jolted awake only to be violently knocked out again.

Alexander then landed heavily on the ground. His landing formed a crater. The snow was blown away, leaving a cloud of mist to form around him.

Alexander got shocked by the impact. He looked at the back of his left hand and saw that he was down to fifty life points. There was a number fifty tattooed on the back of his left hand. It slowly increased but the impact rattled his body greatly. Every bone and organ he had felt a huge impact. He spat a mouthful of blood. He wiped his mouth and spat on the ground.

His eyes pointed at the lone figure that was wearing a mask. The lone figure’s frame was feminine. She wore a mask and was clad in a black mantle. Alexander knew that the enemy was not simple. But he could feel that there was something else.

What was the meaning of the tugging of his heart?

He didn’t know why. He could not understand why he felt like his chest would explode.

But right now he interpreted the feeling as anger. Rage formed inside his mind, his expression turned that of a savage wolf, his eyes dilated and turned red.

The lone figure stopped. She looked at the man before him and wondered who he was. She felt like she was familiar. His face made her heart tremble. She wanted to ask but she remembered what she was supposed to do.

Stolen novel; please report.

She vanished.

Alexander jolted his eyes open and elbowed the dagger that was trying to take his heart. He felt that a life point of his went down.

Shadow didn’t hold back. She unleashed a palm at him.

Alexander got flung away; he rotated madly but he used both hands to stand back upright. He saw Shadow approaching him with a dagger. He took a stance and then grabbed her wrist before flinging her wrist.

Shadow used her legs to counter the throw. She revealed a blade and tried to strike Alexander’s throat. But Alexander turned his neck slightly and avoided the blow. He followed it with an honest forward kick.

Shadow raised her knee and blocked his kick. She then turned her waist and used both of her legs to spring away from Alexander. She drew her pistol and shot four bullets at Alexander.

The bullets hit Alexander but went out of his body. This shocked Shadow but she continued her attack until she ran out of bullets.

Alexander didn’t have his weapons. He didn’t expect a railgun to hit his skyship and he was not ready. He cursed and dashed forward. He did a haymaker.

Shadow dodged his attack. She pivoted her left elbow and hit Alexander right in the chest. She followed the strike with another and barraged him with a continuous flow of blows.

Alexander parried and countered. His eyesight was superb and his reaction time and reflexes were superhuman. But Shadow was able to keep up. They duke it out and hurt each other as if their lives depended on it.

Snow fell on them as it was also blasted away.

They knew the signs of power.

They should have suspected but they immersed in hurting each other.

Alexander was trying to maintain his composure. He was down to forty and his regeneration wasn’t able to keep up with Shadow’s attack.

Shadow was hurting all over. Every part of her body was aching. She felt her world blurry yet she moved her limbs and kept on attacking.

Both of them didn’t stop their blows. They used the signs of power and they were too helpless. Their movements became slow and before long they swung their fists slowly.

Alexander was down to ten. Shadow was heavily injured. She did not expect that there would be someone that could match her. She was surprised. She thought she could win but yet the enemy seemed tireless.

Alexander moved inside her guard. He grabbed her shoulders and swung his head forward.

Shadow wasn’t able to escape and her mask was broken!

The move however blinded Alexander. He heard Shadow stumble down and he pointed the last of his willpower towards Shadow.

He tried to summon an invisible force to flatten her but in the end, he wasn’t able to do it.

Not because of mercy.

But because of the ear-piercing sound that rang his ears. The world went silent and as he looked at the direction where all the sound vanished.

His face froze and there was despair on his face.
