Chapter 108 – A Certain fruitful trip
“For the love that is holy,” hollered Dolce dramatically. Her maidservant Elesia stood in the corner not knowing what to do. Dolce staggered out of her table with a pistol in hand. “Why do I have to wade through documents concerning fiefs? Elesia, why are you not doing all this work for me?”
Elesia looked at her. “Milady, I am not good with numbers. And my head might roll down if I dare to touch the documents.”
“Who cares?” Dolce sneered. “Teach yourself to calculate numbers and for the love that is holy and blessed. Learn to read woman.”
Dolce whirled dramatically and threw a bottle of wine. She managed to hit the bottle rightly. At the same time, the door opened. A young lad cowered as he speaks. “Milady, the ship has landed.”
Dolce turned to the young lad. She stared at him before using her hand to shoo him away. Elesia glared at the young land. The young lad went away.
“Come on, Elesia, let’s see what this town has to offer,” she holstered her weapon. She strides out of the room and made her way through the corridors of the ship. She stepped outside hissing at the sun. She covered her eyes with her palms and ordered Elesia to bring the umbrella.
Elesia and Dolce strolled down the paved roads of Edawick. The town was oddly relaxing and the chortle and hubbub of people made Dolce calm down. She thought that the town was nice. She roamed around the town for a while watching the park and the various buildings before heading to one of the restaurants of the town. To her surprise, it was fairly clean. The waiters were neat-looking. The tables were furnished with a clean cloth. There was a fresh smell that made Dolce sit and not whine about.
The waiter made his way and asked Dolce for her order. She asked for the menu and the waiter did his best to narrate all of the items on the menu, impressing Dolce. She ordered some of the roasted meat and this peculiar disk named Khinkali. She waited for the disk and to her surprise, the dish that she ordered was new to her.
Her maidservant gulped at the sight of the Khinkali. It was a new dish and when Dolce tasted it. Her face beamed. She started eating the food and by the time she was done. She ordered another batch of Khinkali and by the time she was done eating. She praised the cook and gave them an extra tip. She asked who made the dish but the cook refused her. It didn’t annoy her. She was pleased by the cooking that she ordered a takeout.
She then went out of the restaurant pleased. She patted her stomach. She roamed the town and found herself in the bakery where they ate this strange dish called Waffles. This made Dolce curious. Meanwhile, Elesia was suffering. She was having a hard time looking at the food that her master was eating.
Dolce was smug about it. She playfully eats the waffles and made a wide grin at Elesia. Elesia winced at that grin. She lowered her head and cursed under her breath.

Dolce heard that and called her. To Elesia’s surprise, Dolce shoved the waffle into her mouth. She bit the waffle and started eating. Dolce patted her maidservant’s head and then crossed her leg. As she watches the road she saw a shy looking maiden carrying a basket. She was fairly plain. She wore a green broach on her chest and a plain white skirt.
“Can I ask you a question!?” she hollered at the woman. The woman stopped her tracks. She pointed at herself. Dolce nodded and told her to come. The woman nervously approached but Dolce gave a smile. She stood up and looked at the accessory on her chest.
“A nice brooch...”
“T-thank you,” said the woman.
“Are perhaps willing to sell that?”
“No, this is the only thing that my mother left me.”
“Is that so?” Dolce leaned back with her face looking sad. “I see. Then I shan’t ask for it. Take care of that brooch...okay?”
The woman tilted her head. She looked at Dolce before swaggering away from her. Dolce watched her go with impassive eyes. Elesia walked near her lady’s side and asked. “Milady, were you interested in that lady’s something?”
“Yes,” said Dolce. “But it belonged to her mother. If I was her I wouldn’t sell it for all the gold of the world. I understand the feeling and I shall not take it from her. Besides, that thing looks familiar.”
“What do you mean milady?” Elesia asked in confusion.
“Elesia, do you know that in the Livia continent. There are only a few Emeralds?”
“Is that so?”
“Yes, and in this continent, there were only about three emeralds that were dug. Most of them were found in the demesne of Maltius La Fende, located North West of the holy midland. I wouldn’t have known about these if a certain Justicar and a stupid father didn’t mouth it off to me.”
“So is it rare?”
“You can say that,” Dolce’s voice crackled. She wore a huge grin on her mouth. Her spring-like hair flapped as she whirled around in joy. “This is great! What luck! To think that I would find good food and something like these! This is marvelous Elesia! I can imagine the faces of those bastards!”
She was dancing happily. There was a spring in her step as she strides back to the ship. Elesia didn’t know why but the lady was eager to return back to the City of Avilla despite the fact that she just left there with a disgusted look on her face.
Dolce made the crew of her ship ready. The airship took off and left the town of Edawick in a hurry. Indeed, she was lucky. If she was minutes late then she would have boarded a ship rigged with Thermite bombs and chlorine gas. Luckily she got a lucky break and now she was flying straight away from the town with a wide grin on her face. This grin bothered Elesia. That was the grin of the Dolce of Alva who had something good happen to her.
