Chapter 178

Snow was falling. The roofs of the compound were filled with snow. The servants of the compound plowed the snow that was covering the path. A man in a fur coat was using a shovel to clear the snowy path. The sound of metal meeting stone sounded out around the stone path.

Dolce walked passed this man. The man bowed his head and turned back to his clearing of the snow. Henry and Elesia followed behind Dolce. Their rifles were readied and they have frosty expressions.

Dolce put her palms on the door and swung it open. She was welcomed by the decorated hallways. She strides forward and turned right, and then she turned left inside the room. She opened the door and stepped inside the door with a dull stoic expression.

Inside the room was the ‘siblings’ gathered. They looked at Dolce with a complicated expression. They crossed their arms and didn’t say anything. They went silent. They waited for the elder to arrive. Dolce didn’t say anything to her siblings. She doesn’t care enough for them. They feel the same.

It took minutes till Don arrived. He sauntered with confidence and Catalina was by his side. He sat on the middle chair and reclined with his left hand touching his face. He scanned his siblings and stood up. He spoke superfluous words that made them cringe.

The siblings cringed inside. Their faces were dull and bland. They listened to Don without any interest. They merely nodded and let him talk endlessly. Dolce didn’t bother either. She wiggled her fingers and thought of random things. Don continued his speech and sat down.

The siblings discussed but they didn’t approach Dolce. Dolce glanced at the servants coming in as the siblings were occupied. The servants carried silver trays and put them on the table. The siblings took their share of the food. The manservant opened a bottle of wine.

Dolce sniffed. She recognized the wine and smiled thinly. She took the cup that was poured for her and sipped on it. Don used a goblet. He raised it up and said. “Cheers!”

Dolce replied in a lackluster tone. “Cheers’ and continued looking sipping on her wine. She recalled the village. It was the only fief she was fond off. She has spent time on trying to nurture that village. She sent messengers and workers to replace the dead there.

She sipped on the wine. She examined her siblings. They nodded in satisfaction at the wine. They asked which brand it was and was surprised when they learned that it belonged to the village owned by Dolce. The siblings looked at Dolce. They lowered their heads and thought how absurd Dolce was.

She got the fiefs. She got the backing. She got it all the moment she stepped out of the compound. If she didn’t have them they would call her a whore. But she was not incompetent. Six of them had only so little fiefs and were nothing compared to their little sister who did it all in just a few months.

They felt like fools. They shut their mouths and drank the wine quietly. Don continued his superfluous tirades. The siblings then ate a meal. Don and Dolce didn’t touch their food and sipped on the wine. As the other siblings continued eating, the door burst open and men armed with rifles encircled them.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

Catalina was armed with a rifle. She smiled as she pointed her rifle at the siblings. Dolce stood up and backed off. She flattened her back against the wall. She crossed her arms as Elesia and Henry joined her. The two pointed their rifles at anyone who looked at Dolce.

Don stood up with a carefree smile. “My brothers, I have invited you to this fine day for this sole reason. I thought you’d be wiser to attend but I was wrong. You are all fools. Fools who I thought would be warier. You let me talk. You let me feed you with poison that will kill you in a matter of hours.”

He looked each of the siblings and continued.

“I have thought that you all would be much wiser than this. But what is this? You fools are now in this place trapped like sheep to a slaughter. You fearful faces and silent mouths make me delighted. That’s right, you feel fear. I thought that it would take years to cull you bunch of fools. But what is this? Are you all tired of living!?”

Don clapped his hand. One of his subordinates squeezed his trigger finger and blew one of the sibling’s head. The siblings shouted. Despair appeared on their face as brain matter mixed with their food. Don’s smile didn’t cease. There were drops of blood on his face.

“I have known you fools. I have observed if any single one of you here are worthy of being my sibling. Yet none of you fools were able to do anything. Look at Dolce!” He pointed his hand at her. “She has done more than you all! Just a few months she went from a useless shut-in to a figure of this continent! What have you fools done?”

Don clapped his hand. Another one of his siblings died at the hands of his subordinate. Dolce sneered at Don’s comment but she continued watching.

She continued Don’s round of execution. He insulted his siblings and killed them. The room was filled with blood. The stench of death lingered. The last sibling that was not killed looked at Don. His pants were soiled with pee and shit. His teeth chattered as the rifles were now pointed at him.

Don was dirtied with blood. His face was smiling but it only made him be a devil in front of the last sibling. The last sibling tried to say anything. But Don shook his head and clenched his fist. The subordinates of Don open fired. The last sibling was filled with bullet holes. His neck was torn. His eyeballs were destroyed.

Don clapped his hands. The subordinated carried the siblings and the rest started cleaning the room. Don ambled towards Dolce and looked at her calmly.

“And so it ended. They are fools. The family is much better without them. It was lucky of me that they were all useless fools.”

Dolce didn’t reply. She looked at Don vaguely and ordered Henry and Elesia to follow her. She went out of the room. She sauntered under the sky and looked at the man in a fur coat digging a pit large enough for the siblings to fin. The man nodded at Dolce. Dolce nodded back and strolled back to her room.
