Chapter 161 –
Titus barked. Titus crawled and rolled down the dirt. Titus barked yet again. He leaps up and down and wagged his tongue. The air tasted salty, the little pup thought. He looked at his master and stared at her silky blonde hair that reached up to her knees.
His master’s hair billowed with the wind. Her waving hair made Titus look at it as if Titus was seeing a branch sway. Titus was a unique breed of banewolf. He was a fairly smart and Zola’s Psion-based abilities made Titus smarter. So he could understand by instinct and intelligence that his master was a strange being. A strange and powerful being that allowed him to be powerful as well.
Titus barked. His instincts made him play at the edges of the cliff. He barked again. He looked at the white colored scenery before him. There were snowflakes around and the river a hundred meters away from the vantage point Titus was standing on four legs made it clear that it was sparkling like gems.
Barked! Titus barked. He looked at the other side of the vantage point at an unhurried pace. Barked! Barked! Titus calmly rolled over the snow and let its tongue go wild. Snow fell up from the sky. It was winter and usually, most dire animals like him would hide from winter or from the races that like to capture them.
But Titus was no longer the same pup that crawling under foliage to survive. He was now a being that would not be afraid of higher caliber dire animals or monsters. With the Psion-based abilities that he gathered from his master, Titus was no longer the cowardly pup that would use another animal’s protection. Titus has wolf’s blood. How could Titus forever rely on the protection of them?
That’s why after a fruitful encounter with his master. Titus could proudly say. “Bark!” and face the monsters that Titus once feared. Although it was now a bit fearless, it understood the feelings of the weak. So Titus won’t thoughtlessly bite or scratch any being that didn’t provoke him. Not to mention that the Titus was just a little pup! It wasn’t that bloodthirsty as it was still young.
So it was still innocent and would rather scratch on trees or play fetch with his master. Titus liked his master. Titus’s have two masters. The first one was the absurdly strong Zola and the other was a fairly normal master who likes to rustle Titus’s head and Titus liked the other master despite the cold eyes that the other master of Titus gives. If it wasn’t for the other master, Titus would be not be accompanying Zola. Joshua, the other master had made Titus see what peace was. Although that peace was short, it was a special memory for the little pup. That short days of peace and warming his fur while following his two masters made Titus a happy pup.
Titus liked accompanying Zola everywhere. But Titus the Pup preferred the peaceful days.
“Titus!” called Zola. “Please take care of that monster for me okay?”
Titus barked excitedly and turned to the monster that his master pointed. The monster was a dire vulture that hovered around the vantage point. It had a long beak and sharp looking claws. The vulture was clearly eyeing Titus. It made Titus barked loudly.

The vulture oddly screeched and glided towards Titus. The vulture was hoping to capture and bite Titus’s neck. It was fairly confident that it could eat Titus. It dived down and tried clamping down on Titus.
Titus rolled with finesse. Purple light shone in Titus’s eyes. It suddenly barked loudly and the vulture’s flight got disturbed. Titus tried to scratch the vulture but the Vulture was experienced and was able to strafe away from Titus’s claws.
Titus landed on his paws. Purple light sparked around Titus and rushed to where the Vulture was. The Vulture was a dire monster. It had spiky ends on its wing and was able to use it to lash out at Titus. Titus was not able to dodge that blow and scratch almost blinded Titus’s eyes.
Titus howled at the injury it got. Zola, who was looking at the scenery with careful eyes glance at the vulture with a dreadful glare, there was hatred in her eyes but she turned back to watching for the enemy. Titus saw that and ignored it. Titus looked at the vulture who was circling around Titus.
The vulture felt something that made the Vulture want to feel. But since it was gone the Vulture wanted to catch Titus before the glare that the Vulture felt would come back. So the Vulture dived in again but it was faster. The Vulture screeched again.
Titus gritted his fangs. Titus riled up the Psion on his body and made it go wild. Titus felt the Psion strengthen his body. His pup-sized body felt like it was energized and as the vulture swoops down. Titus dodged with finesse.
The Vulture was shocked! It flaps its wing and climbed up to the sky. There was a strange glow coming from Titus and it didn’t make the Vulture happy. But how could the Vulture let the pup go? It has been hunting and now a wolf pup with strange abilities was in front of the Vulture! All the vulture thought was how tender the little pup would be.
So it swooped down and tried to go in for the kill. But Titus was strengthened by the Psion and was able to dodge the attack completely. Titus has witnessed how the Vulture was able to climb up with a flap of its wing, so how could Titus not learn?
That’s why before the Vulture could do the same move again. Titus swung his tiny but sharp claws at the vulture’s wing. The Vulture screeched in pain. It tried to hop away but Titus’s fang bit through the Vulture’s neck. The Vulture struggled for a second before it stopped.
To make sure that the vulture was really dead. Titus bit a huge chunk of the Vulture’s neck and spit it out. Titus then dragged the vulture near the edges of the cliff and pushed it down with its paws. The vulture dropped like a kite and disappeared below the forest.
“Good job,” Titus felt Zola’s palm on its head. Titus barked happily and wagged his tail. The little pup was happy to help.
