Extra Chapter: Worst familiar ever

[Roge Kingdom's Royal Head Mage: Volder Mort's Pov]

The king had ordered me to summon a familiar in order to at least have some measure of defence for close-ranged combat... He has a point, but I despise familiars. No, I don't despise the beings themselves, I despise the idea of kidnapping someone and using them as slaves for the rest of their probably short lives. I never was one for slaves, but I understood their commodity and necessity, so I never directly fought against the cause, but never supported it either.

However, the king has given me a direct order, so there's not much I can do about it. He also wanted me to make me summon a familiar in front of the student's council of some schools in the kingdom, in order to give them an idea of what it's like. I couldn't refuse, since he was the king, but I also didn't disagree with the idea, as helping youngsters is the goal for us Royal Mages, especially me, the Head Mage.

Today was finally the day I'd do it. Binding a familiar is no small deal, as it will connect their life to yours, and should they die the mage who summoned them will never be able to bind another one to themselves.

As the students strolled inside the courtyard that was chosen as the area of the summoning, I looked over them. I could see several of them who had an extremely high potential. They were all very talented, which is very good for our kingdom. Having strong people is key to a kingdom's survival.

When the rows of students finally settled and sat based by school, I finally announced "Welcome, students. I'm the Royal Head Mage, Volder Mort. Today, I have been ordered to a summon a familiar. You chosen ones have been given the chance to witness this event. I will show you why summoning a familiar is usually done only after a mage is fully developed, as the stronger one is the stronger the familiar will be, and since one can only summon one familiar in his or her lifetime, this is extremely important. Well, with all the useless chatter done, I'll get on this so we can get out of here." The students clapped at my shitty speech, and all of them had sparks in their eyes. Youngsters...

I began to chant and pour mana into the summoning circle.

"Oh hear me, spirits!

Grant me power, Grant me a friend, Grant me a familiar!

Abide by the laws of magic, Abide by the laws of god!

Come forward, My summon!"

Suddently, as soon as I finished the chant, my entire mana pool was sucked dry. This isn't supposed to happend! I was slightly confused, but couldn't help but fall to my knees. The students all looked on, curious, whilst the older ones were confused at what was happening.

Soon, my summoning circle began to suck in all the mana from the surroundings. The students themselves even noticed this, and all looked even more attentively. I was still struggling to get back up, thankfully my mana regenation was the highest in the kingdom, so it only took me a minute or so.

The circle continued to suck and suck, until it began to float. It turned and began to spin. It then expanded, and a silver portal-like thing appeared in it's center.

After another 5 minutes of sucking mana, the portal expanded abruptly and grew 2 meters tall and wide. Then, an arm came through the portal. Then, a girl of perhaps 16 years old came through. She was a beastman, resembling a cat, but had two pairs of wings on her back and four tails.

I was confused. I did hear of intelligent beings or even humans being summoned before, but I didn't think it'd happened to me. The girl looked a mix of confused and amused. She looked first at me for a second, then at the students. Her gaze rolled over them, and after inspecting them she waved a hand with a small smile. The students all fell silent. I think they've been captured by her charm... Youngsters...

I walk up to her, who looks up at me and tilts her head. I touch her forehead, and a small circle appears on it, symbol of being a familiar. I'm sorry, girl, but the king ordered me to do this. She also doesn't look normal, as intelligent familiars usually freak out after being summoned.

I turn to the students and say "... And this is not how you summon a familiar normally. Well, this whole thing was a waste. Hopefully you learned something, but probably you didn't." I say with a cold voice. The students didn't mind though, as they know of my cold and heartless personality.

"Eh~. It wasn't a waste though~. Now I get to have some fun in this place~. Say, mr.handsome middle-aged man, where am I? I don't really care, but it'd be improper to not ask~." The girl says like it's the most common thing to say. Also, middle aged man? I'm only 45 years old you know, I'm still in my prime... Youngsters...

The students looked were still looking at us, so I was about to answer when the girl suddently raised her hand and said "If you say some bullshit like 'Familiars shouldn't ask questions', or anything like it, I will personally destroy everything you care about and love, so do consider your answer~."

Both the students and I were taken aback. I was taken aback because she was even able to talk like that despite the familiar's binding on her, and the students because of her cold words. I can tell she's not normal, so I say "I'd rather not have you do that. My name is Volder Mort..." Before I can finish, she starts laughing and points at me with shaky fingers.

"V-volder M-m-mort? Hahaha... Voldermort... Haaa, Harry Potter... Earth... Ahaaha... Fuck... You... I'LL FUCKING TEAR YOU APART!!" Her mood suddently turns upside down and a terrible feeling swells inside my heart. The circle on her forehead breaks apart, which should be impossible. She then points a finger at me. I try to jump back, but before I could do so I feel myself frozen in place.

I move my eyes and see that my whole body was frozen. The girl then slowly turnes her head towards the panicking students, and she slowly says "... I was wondering what that wierd tugging feeling was. Kidnapping people from other worlds and using them as slaves... I can't say that I approve of this. Receive divine judgement, snacks!"

Silver mirrors appear on top of the students, and then several stones come through them and crash into the students like meteors falling from the sky. The panicking students all try to run away, but only end up blocking each other from escaping.

The girl then points at them and a black orb slowly grows on her finger. I can feel a wierd sensation from that orb, just what did I summon... I knew it'd be a bad idea...

The girl then shoots the orb, and it abrubtly increases in size hundredfold, emcompassing all the students and leaving a trail of nothingness behind it. There were no traces of the students, or anything that it passed through. I couldn't help but tremble even though I was frozen. Even I'd have trouble killing that many students so quickly...

She turns at me and says "... Ah~. I'm sorry, I just had a somewhat bad day and you kinda overfilled the jar called my patience. Do join the millions of souls killed by my hands~." She then walks towards me and grabs me by my neck. I can feel myself... becoming... weaker...

My whole body was decomposing, and after 10 seconds I was basically only bones, and my whole body felt drained. She let me go, probably wanting to let me live.

"Hehe... Do enjoy dying a slow and painful death. You can try and recover, but you'll never again be able to use magic and your body's been crippled forever, so do enjoy a nice death after being abandoned by everyone you thought cared about you~. Next time, don't kidnap people to use as slaves... as... it's... not... something good~." She says and runes begin to appear around her. I can feel a titanic amount of mana in them.

The runes shine, and they and the girl disappear. After an hour, guards arrived and looked over the destruction. Once they found me, they immediately brought me to the infirmary, where healing mages tried everything they could to help me but to no avail.

I was soon fired from my job, abandoned by my friends and I could barely feed myself and my family. That girl truly ruined my life in less then an hour... I sometimes wished she would have just killed me...
