Chapter 8: Bloody Cat

[Adventurer's Pov]

me and my 4 buddies just came back from a rather difficult quest and were drinking some beer and chatting with other teams in the guild when the door suddently opened and a strange girl came in.

She didn't look older then 14, had magma eyes, butt-long silver hair and for some reason two blue/white two meter long tails behind her and a pair of catlike ears, which were silver just like her hair. She was about 150 cm tall. She was wearing a jacket at least 5 sizes her size, and it reached down to her knees. She apparently made holes in the jacket for the tails to fit through.

Seriously though? Is she a demon? She doesn't look like one. Is she some kind of new mix? I'm rather curious. After all, our team sometimes works along with demons. They're nice people. If only the common folk would understand that...

I'm not saying I don't enjoy the sight, as she's probably the most beutiful girl I've ever seen, but I'm already married with kids. But, the people around me are all looking at her with lewd eyes, others like me are frowning a bit at those perverts. Seriously, what are you all? Pedophiles?

She walks up to the counter and starts talking with the receptionist, who's looking at her with eyes that are literally filled with little hearts. I've heard that the receptionist loves cute things, but that's a bit exxagerated miss...

I turn to my friends and we start talking again for maybe 3 minutes before I notice one of the notorious guys, Mordred, getting up and approaching the girl. He's up to no good, he's known for being a pervert and I suspect he involves himself with underground associations, doing work for them. I just hope he won't actually do anything to the girl, or there might be an angry receptionist to deal with...

[Receptionist's Pov]

I was just sitting down on my reception's desk, thinking about what to do for tomorrow or how to deal with some other things that came up recently, like the strange absence of monsters in the forest. It's like they disappeared. Don't get me wrong, there are some but they can be counted on two hands and are all the less dangerous ones.

Overall, a normal day when suddently the girl I saw earlier with Jack enters the guild alone. She's the cutest thing I've ever seen, I can barely hold myself back from jumping at her and petting those wierd tails and ears of her. Wonder what happend there. I'm not gonna judge as I myself met a couple of strange people, but none had mutations as big as her...

As she approaches me, I can see people all around looking at her either curiously or lewdly. Seriously, pedophiles just make me so angry I'd kill them all if I could. She seems to notice it too, but obviously tries to ignore it.

"Good morning little miss. How may I help you today?" I ask with loving eyes. She looks up at me with a faint smile.

"Hi, can I register as an adventurer? I already heard everything I need to do from bearguy, so I think i know everything." Bearguy? Is she referring to Jack? He does kinda look like a bear... But most importantly, why would she want to be an adventurer? she hardly looks strong enough and a girl like her shouldn't do such jobs! However, my job's my job. Gotta do what you gotta do I guess. I'm still gonna warn her though.

"Are you shure? Adventurer's tend to die at a rather quick rate these days. It also isn't the prettiest job out there, are you shure you want to do it?" She nods at me, and I sigh a bit. Guess she's not changing her mind huh...

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Taking out the registration crystal, I put it onto the counter. This thing's amazing, it registers the mana signature of anyone that registers on it and it can help tell wether they're alive or not, as well as keeping all necessary information like rank, amount of quests succeded, crimes committed and some other minor details.

After registering her (Those are some pretty god damn sharp nails, they're almost completely like claws!) we chat for a bit about things like where to sleep for the night, where she might get a good meal, which quests are hard and which are easy.

However, all fun has to end eventually. I notice at the corner of my Mordred coming up to us. Oh god, is he here to make trouble? I don't have the authority nor the power to stop him. He's a damned A-rank adventurer! There are only about 5.000 of them, and each of them are all very wealthy.

Ranks go like this, There are countless F-ranks adventurers, and most of them just do it for fun or stop after a while. There are then the D-ranks, which could be considered as normal soldiers doing odd jobs. There are then the C ranks, which are already pretty strong, then B-rank, which are strong and aren't as many as you'd think. Then there are the A-ranks which are very strong, and as said before, there are only about 5000 of them. There are then 50 or so S-ranks, these guys are usually kings or emperors or heads of big companies, as they have huge authority due to being S-rank as well as either really strong or really smart, or both for the case. SS and SSS ranks are just complete monsters.

As he comes up to us, the girl's cute ears twitch for a bit and she turns to face him, looking at him with a blank look voided of emotions.

"Hello little girl, I can tell that you want to be an adventurer. Why don't you patner up with reliable people like me so we can help you a bit and teach you all the basic stuff? I myself am one of the strongest in the town, so why don't you come with me and we can have a bit of fun togheter?" he says whilst eyeing her. This gets me pretty mad but the girl stops me with her words

"Shure, the sun usually sets on those that approach me though. Yours will set very soon I can sense, so why don't you teach me a bit, senior." she says the last word in a tone filled with venom. I don't understand, what does she mean by the sun setting? Doesn't the sun set on everyone every day?

He looks at her mixed with a questioning and greedy look. I can tell that he's up to no good, but the girl's answer stops me from doing so. She sounds like she knows what she's doing. As she turns around and starts walking toward the door I hear her mumbling "Cliche... Cliche..". What does she mean? What's up with this phisolophical demon girl?

As she was about to leave the door, Mordred, clearly irritated by the lack of reaction suddently grabs one of her tails.

I thought only beasts roared, but the roar that resounded through the building sounded even more terrifying, especially considering her small size. Her other tail slapped mordred so hard it sent him flying at me, and I barely managed to avoid him.

We were all stunned at that power. I thought she was just a little girl, but that slap was enough to send an A-rank flying. Just how strong is she?

Apparently she wasn't satisfied though, and it all happened too fast for any of us to stop her. She jumped after him, landing a kick in his stomach, followed by two small hand digging into his heart and pulling it out. It was truly gruesome, and it happened so fast even I, a retired B-rank adventurer could barely see what happened.

Everyone was stunned into silence at the scene. She had literally killed him in less then three seconds. Not only that, but the shock of seeing a little girl pull out a still beating heart with her bare hands will always be scary no matter what.

She then simply turned around, heart still in hand, and walked torward the door while saying "So the sun has set earlier then I imagined, huh? whatever, idiots will always be idiots." and exited the guild.

I soon regained my bearings, and not only had to clear the desk that she sent the guy smashing into, but also had to work out paperwork for what happened. It was obvious that the guy had no good intentions, but she still shouldn't have killed him. Eh, he deserved it.

And just like that, she earned a whole bunch of local nicknames like 'Bloody Cat', 'Heart Eater', 'Tail Smasher' or a bunch of other stupid nicknames. 'Bloody cat' is still my favourite, although most disagree.
