[Alysha's Pov]
We spent the following weeks making my minions do spartan training, building up defenses in our base and recruiting new beasts.
Nothing major happened for quite a while. I simply spent my days eating, doing the occasional beat-up of the idiots who thought that I wasn't worth being their king, I also sent a response to the king saying:
[Dear king, I would be honored to help you out in your war. However, once said war is done, I request to at least obtain the forest, and should my contribution be enough, be recognized as a 'protector'. I will discuss the details with you another time, but know that my help will come with a price. Oh, tell the prince that I'm still waiting for our game of chess~, and say hi to the Pervert for me. From Alysha Bloodseeker.]
I later on received a responde that basically sugarcoated a "Yes please. Help us!". That king's really desperate to remain in power... I wonder, I doubt it was just me that's triggering this civil war. I think he messed up and gave the nobles too much authority. Too bad for him, humans are greedy and always want more no matter what.
I spent about 3 weeks of lazing around and pushing all of the responsabilities onto Asu, who formed a council consisting of the strongest monster from each race. They would dedide laws, economics, politics and other little details~. They always bicker with each other when I'm not around, but are strangely silent and obedient in my presence. I wonder what's up with them?
After 3 weeks, a report came that took up my interest. I was chewing on a snack that thought hunting me was a good idea, when Asu came to me with a report. He would always try to keep up to date on everything that happends, even though I try to tell him to relax and take a couple of days off, he never does. Stupid workaholics...
{Mother, one of our wolf scouts reports that he saw a dragon coming over here in the forest. He says that it possibly was an ancient dragon too, and our current forces have no chance against one. Only you can deal with it, mother.} I looked at him suprised. It's the first time that even Asu admits that he can't do anything... Doesn't that mean the dragon is like, really strong?
My whole body started shaking intensively, and my mouth couldn't help but turn up to an insane degree. I've been itching for a good fight for a long time now... Is this fate at work?
{Ahahah... Asu, tell everyone to remain in the base for today. I'll go deal with the slightly big lunch.} I say and run off after having Asu tell me my lunch's location.
I never saw a dragon myself, but I heard that even one of the weaker ones is considered SS-rank. An ancient dragon though is considered a national threat, and for a good reason. They can live for millenia over millenia, and they get extremely strong.
Excited at the idea of finally having a nice meal, I speed up towards the supposed location of the dragon. I find it as it was flying up in the sky. Grinning to myself, I begin to conjure my suprise attack.
After 20 seconds, a giant heart appears in my open hand. It was beating despite not being attached to anything.
The dragon seemed confused, and was looking around, trying to find me. He probably can feel the reflection of his second heart... Not for long though, as I squeeze the heart as hard as I can. The dragon roars out in pain and falls down from the sky, destroying several trees as he lands. He's even bigger then I imagined, being at least 30 meters from head to tail and 8 meters tall.
I destroy the reflection, but the dragon doesn't die. Even if I break a reflection, the target won't always be destroyed. Said target will die if it is weak enough, but won't if it's strong enough. I'm still experimenting how it works, but it didn't take a genius to know beforehand that in this case, the dragon wasn't going to die, so I wasn't too upset.
I conjure my next attack, I open my mouth and point my two tails in front of it. I then gather my moon mist into a sphere in front of my mouth. The dragon notices me and turns towards me. He too opens his mouth and fires at me a flame breath. I let it hit me and continue gathering my moon mist. My clothes get burned to dust and my whole body feels, no, is on fire, but I ignore it.
The dragon stops his attack and looks satisfied, but when he sees me still standing there he makes a shocked expression? I'm not sure how to determine draconic expressions... I'd really like to keep him as a subordinate, but my hunger forbids me to do anything else but to eat him.
As the dragon tries to flee into the skies, my attack finally finishes preparing and I shoot it towards the dragon. This is essentially a much stronger 'Moon Bazooka', which I decided to name 'Condensed Artillery'. The projectile shoots out at tremendous speeds, and slams into the dragon and explodes. The dragon is sent flying back several hundreds of meters and his body breaks at least 200 trees.
I climb up a tree swiftly and go into my cat-like stealth mode. I jump around in the trees, staying out of his sight, waiting for my chance.
The dragon gets up and looks furious. He begins to fire out his breath attack, burning everything around him. That flame must be at least 1000 celcius, as it looks reeeaaally~ hot.
I keep dodging the occasional close call, and wait for him to tire out. He stops after a couple minutes, and I took the opportunity to pounce at him. The tree I use as a jumping zone breaks at my jump, and the dragon looks in my direction from the noise.
He didn't get enough time to react though as I slam into his head and latch onto it with my tails and claws.
I then scratch, rip out his scales, stab his eyes, bite and inject poison and pound my fists into him. He shakes his head around, trying to get me off, but I refuse to do so. He then slams his head into the ground, dragging me along with him.
He keeps slamming me into the ground, probably getting a concussion while doing so. I finally let go after a couple hits, and he readily begins to stomp on me. He then jumps away and breaths a shitload of fire onto me. I feel like my body is melting, but my grin hadn't receded a single bit from the entire fight, actually, it had only increased.
I make some mirrors in the sky and conjure giant stones in them. I aim them at the dragon as he still breaths fire on me, and fire the stones at him. He doesn't even notice until they slam into him, creating a giant earthquake. His left wing gets crushed under a stone, and he gets hit by several of them. His scales propect him for the most part, but it still does a lot of damage. Unfortunatly for me, this attack, 'Meteor Strike', is more specialized in large groups then on single targets...
I get up from the burning ground I was thrown in, and slowly walk towards the dragon, who was trying to free itself from the rock. I stretch out my hand and conjure a giant pike in it. I then take aim, and throw the pike at the dragon's chest. He quickly turns at me, but doesn't have enough time to react as the pike stabs itself into his chest.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
The dragon roars in pain, and looks at me with hateful eyes. I look back at it and smile evilly. I then conjure near me several hundreds of other spikes, creating the attack 'Pike Field'. I aim all of them at the dragon and fire them. He dodges some, but there were simply too many of them and he turns from dragon into porcupine really fast.
{Sorry there buddy. I would have liked to keep you as a pet, but you seemply look far too tasty for me to ignore. Now, let's end this shall we?} I say in a cheerfull voice and jump at him. He bites me, but I dodge and run towards it's neck. Once I'm there, I use all of my strenght to slam my claws as deep as I can into it. I quickly retreat though, not wanting to be burned again.
The dragon struggles for a bit longer, but ultimately dies from the poision and the several fatal injuries. My grin disappears and is replaced by a look of regret. I really would have liked to talk with him... I wonder what he was doing in this region. After all, dragons tend to like to stay in solitude and they rarely ever come out from their caves deep in the earth.
I know all of this from the books I read during these weeks. Hey, I'm not a completely lazy. I still do my job and study this world properly so I can explain it to idiotic readers better.
I must say, our fight was quite something. After all, the ground is scorched for hundreds of meters and hundreds of trees are broken. I myself probably broke all of my ribs a couple times, but it's not like it matters. It just takes a couple of seconds and tada~ Good as new.
I spend the next hours cutting apart the corpse and eating it. It tasted awesome~ I've never tasted something as good as this. It got me addicted really quick, and I began to eat him directly without even cutting pieces off beforehand. The meat melted in my mouth in a mixture of amazing tastes, making me moan in delight.
After I finished, not a scale was left. My body had already dissolved the entire body of the dragon. I was satisfied for a second before hell literally crashed upon me.
It just suddently happened. One moment I was standing, the next I was on the ground, screaming. My entire body felt like it was exploding. My muscles tore apart and regenerated, my bones broke or shattered and the regenerated, my nails, teeth and hair fell off and they too then quickly regenerated. Once they fell, they'd turn into dust as new parts appeared. This continued for an hour or so, and the pain only increased.
I felt something burst out from my back, and then the pain spread to those new things too. At one point, my eyes too began to dissolve, then regenerate. My skull cracked, but luckily never shattered.
My screams resounded through the entire forest like roars. It took another 30 minutes for the pain to finally stop. I was too tired mentally and phisically to even keep my consciousness, so I quickly slipped into the darkness.
When I woke up, my entire body still ached, but it didn't even remotely feel like that hell I passed through. I still felt the new things on my back, and I probably know what they are.
I looked around and found myself in a king-sized bed. The room I was in was expensively decorated, but had no windows. There was only one door and magical lamps were hanging from the ceiling.
I created a reflection of myself and observed my modified body.
I had grown a bit. I was now 160cm tall, my hair fell down all the way to my knees, my eyes glowed a red even brighter then before. My breasts had developed a bit, at least I wasn't as flat as before. The most notable changes though were the two sets of wings coming out from my back.
They resembled angel wings, I stretched them and checked them out. They reached up to 5 meters in both directions if I spread them out, and the top set was a bright silver color just like my hair, and the lower set was a lightning-blue, just like my... 4 tails?
I had also grown two new sets of tails. I stretched them, felt them, poked them, chased them just a little bit, and overall confired that they were exactly like the other two. They now could stretch all the way to 10 meters, but their normal lenght was still 2 meters.
I spent about an hour checking my body out, stretching my newfound muscles, observing my reflection and combing my tails and caressing my wings. They felt really nice to touch and I could fold them on my back to move them out of the way. They seemed quite useful, I wonder how it'll feel like to fly...
I had obviously gotten much stronger. First of all, I could conjure my mist and objects at least twice as fast now. My nails and teeth also felt much sharper, and my canines were quite long. They reminded me of vampires... I wonder, if I eat a strong enough vampire, will I too be able to suck blood? I totally should try that!
As I was checking myself out, I heard sounds coming from outside the door. Soon enough, the door opened and Asu came in. How the hell did he open a door...?
{Mother! You're awake!! You have no idea how worried all of us got when we heard your screams you know!?} He said and coiled around me, rubbing his head on me.
I felt awkward but happy to know that they worried about me. It might have moved my heart just a little to know that there is someone out there who actually cares about me... Though they probably just do it because they want my strenght...
As Asu kept calling me an idiot, I hurriedly replied {Ah, uh, eeh, I don't know! Asu, please! I just woke up! I have no idea what happend! I just ate that dragon and then this happened!} Asu finally calmed down and began to explain.
Apparently, I had been in a coma-like state for two entire months. He says that war will break out very soon, and that the nobles and royals are already assembling their armies. He said that we ourselves have focused on training and recruiting. He said that he used the human slaves to build some basic buildings for us monsters, and that they were able to make a kind of door that recognizes magic signatures, so that monsters can use their magical energy to open doors and windows.
He then ushered me to go with him to go meet up with the council to assure them that I'm alright. Apparently, I didn't know, but all the monsters here consider me something like a God. They call me the 'Demonic Cat God', and think that I'm the one true god or something... I have no idea of when this started, but it sounds awesome~.
I looked at Aru who was still grumbling internally about how unfair I was to push all of my work onto him and about how annoying the other council members were, I just had the urge to hug him. And I did.
He was a bit suprised but didn't resist. I then simply said "... Thank you." Even though I didn't use telepathy, he understood. I then turned and left the building with him silently following me. Turns out, the building was something akin to the palace of our city...? It wasn't really as much as a city as a mixture of caves, holes, nests and the occasional house. We went through with people all looking at us wispering. I ignored them and followed Asu. He had grown quite a bit, and was now 10 meters long and 1.5 meters wide. Thankfully, the streets were really large due to being designed for giants to pass through, so we didn't have trouble.
As I looked around, amazed at the speed they built all of this, we finally arrived at a very decorated cave. We entered, and soon arrived in a circular room with a round table in the middle. There were monsters all around the table, discussing. I could recognize Tremor, Yank and Shrkland, who were I considered my personal advisors. Asu then screamed out in telepathy {Silence! Ruler has awoken you idiots, so shut up!}
They all immediately did shut up and turned to look at us. I waved at them with a little smile and said {Hello~, sorry for fainting on you guys~ That dragon was quite the devil you know~. At least I gained some nice wings from him though.}
I then spent the next hour first being congratulated on my win against the dragon, and then I was kept here by Asu to be informed of our plans.
If I were to sum everything up, they want to establish a beast kingdom, where the intelligent non-humanoids can govern in peace. They don't consider all animals intelligent, as it should be. They already have sectors of government, hunting and even livestock. They also apparently established an economy based on barter, and are planning on starting to make coins.
They're main problem is the lack of hands though. They're developing methods to wield utensils even without using the opposable thumb. This is all a bit too much for me to take in though. Seriously? Just how much did humans underestimate 'monsters'? They're amazing!
I approved of their plans and left. After all, I totally want to try out my new wings~. I also kinda want to go and meet up with the king, so I'll do that afterwards.
