Chapter 6: The City

Chapter 6: The City

[Pov Alysha]

Honestly, Alysha was overjoyed at the success of the operation, she had sent a note to the bandit group she found and told them that there will more likely be a girl that needed a lesson at a certain time i calculated between the travel speed of the group i wanted to trick and the bandit's location. It ended up perfectly~! I even got a name! That honestly made me very happy. I couldn't help but cringe a bit at the black haired guy's gaze, I think his name was Masaki. He was totally watching my butt and breasts. I understand that i am a girl and I'm cute, but at least try to hide your gaze, pervert! The girl was very nice though, and even gave me her coat. Which was kinda 5 sizes too large for me and was annoying as it grazed on my tails. They're sensitive, Coat!

I made the perfect shy girl act at first, twitching and talking very little, always looking away. Honestly, I really wanted to eat them and those bastards who called me a brat. I'm at least 60 years old. Not that they can tell, and it wouldn't be good if anyone believed or knew the truth.

But they are all so weak! They're even weaker then those wierd wolves! I mean, they probably are at the level of one of those giant bears. Barely. They wouldn't even make a fit meal for me...

What? I'm not supposed to eat humans? Are you stupid? Humans are like the best thing there is. Although most are weak, I heard from spying on these guys earlier that the girl is a mage. I really want to learn magic, and maybe if I eat one that has it...

I was slightly confused at myself though, I truly found it hard to stop the shy girl act, only when it came to slavery did I somehow manage to break out of it. I feel like I truly am becoming shy, and I'm having some slight trouble talking. I guess not talking for 50 years and my distrust for others made it very hard for me.

I told them that I didn't know anything, and they believed it. Idiots, who would believe a story like that, also the timing was just too perfect, do you like have no suspicion at all? Well, they're dumb. Not my fault.

The girl (I think her name's Yuune) keeps calling the black haired man 'Hero'. Did i just stumble upon the true hero? Hopefully, maybe he will be useful later on. Other then those two wierdos, the giant bearlike man is very friendly despite being very fierce, I honestly like him the best. He somewhat reminds me of a show from long ago. I think it was called Piece something... It was the mc's grandpa, he was big and strong, he was my favourite charachter...

There was the last guy then. His name was Elrick if I'm correct. I wonder why I'm so bad with names, I remember everything perfectly except names...

Anyway, he had two daggers on the sides of his pants and had pointed and slightly longer ears. I think he's half human and half elf or something. I wonder if there are other like me... Maybe I could actually find someone that has clothes that don't hurt your tail(s) when you wear them? That'd be nice...

However, when I asked them they all looked quite troubled, and the bearguy said "Don't worry about it, I'm shure you'll find someone." This left me slightly confused. What did he mean? I know I'll find someone like me, but where are they?

As I was opening my mouth to speak, the black hair guy suddently grabs my arm and says "Hey, how about we go? We still haven't found any monster and we probably won't find them later either. Let's go back to the castle and ask the king what to do!" Yup, this guy is the real hero, although an idiot and a pervert. Thanks Yuune, keep glaring at him, as I gotta keep the weak and shy girl act(?).

After releasing me and walking for about an hour, we reach the city that I avoided for so long. I found it a couple of weeks ago during an excursion a bit farther away then usual from my pond, due to the lack of prey, and found the city. It's quite amazing actually. It resembles exactly what a city should not be like. It smells horrible, it's noisy, there's a ton of people in it and some of them are armed, which I presume are the adventurers I sometimes see, there's the tipical rich merchant guy obviously filthy rich just by looking at his clothes, various kinds of nobles, from very good looking to fat and disgusting. How do I determine noble from commoner? The entrance gate devides them into 2 groups, plus nobles always wear fancy dresses. Like those noble girls following that very hot guy. 'hissing noise' fucking rich people. I'm totally not jealous of their fancy dresses and ornaments.

Heh, ain't I like a complete girl right now? I suppose I am as I find looking at guys more pleasant rather then looking at girls. Then again, I'm still too young to understand, right?

Out little group arrived and we apparently are nobles as we arrived at the noble gate. The guys all around us were looking at me lewdly, and even some girls, although they were more like looking at a cute little animal. I also didn't miss the stares at my tails or ears, which I'm not really trying to hide, as what's the point? Still haven't seen anyone like me though. Are we perhaps rare? Is that the reason for the stares?

When we finally reached the entrance point, the guards look at me for a brief moment, then ask the black haired guy

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

"Good morning sir, may we have your identification and proof of nobility?"

At that the black hair guy simply nods and gives a wierd card and another card with a chandelier-like picture on it. The guard first looks at the latter paling, then reading the other card blood completely goes out and he bows quickly

"I-i-i'm truly sor-ry, Hero, please pass and forgive my rudeness from before!"

All the people around us turn to the black haired guy with clear shock on their faces. As I thought, this guy's the hero... Hopefully I'm not doing something very~ stupid by associating with a guy that is probably the archenemy of an entire race.

After we finally are able to enter the city, I was quite displeased with the smell and sounds. It's so god damn loud, it was loud from a distance, but it's nothing like being in the middle of it. Yuuna notices my displeasures and ask what's wrong

"Loud. Smelly. Ugly." I simply say, at which all of them cringe at each word. Probably shouldn't have said that, considering that if my assumptions are right, these guys are probably somehow connected to the royals. Eh. don't care. If they truly try to kill me just for that comment I'll just bulldoze my way through any number of enemies, which considering their strenght from a glance, wouldn't be much of a hassle.

However, it was my turn to cringe. I thought slavery was outlawed, but I can clearly see slaves being bought and sold as we travel trough the city. I really didn't care about them though, it's just a very scary aspect that I may end up like them if I don't get strong enough...

With a newfound motivation, our group finally arrives at a wierd building with wooden sign with a sword and axe crossing symbol on it. As we enter I confirm my suspicions. Yup, this is totally the adventurer's guild. These guys are all armed to their teeth.

As we entered, they all turned around and looked at us, or at least, looked at me and Yuuna, very much staring at places I'd rather not have them stare at.

They quickly turn around after a glare from bear guy, who earns a thumbs up in my mind. [You go, bear guy! Your the best!] I cheer in the corner of my mind.

I can still however hear wispers as clear as day thanks to my extreme hearing.

"Isn't that 'The Titan' Jack?"

"Yeah, I think he's the real deal."

"I wonder who those 4 others are..."

"Hehe, those two are wierd, aspecially that cosplay with the ears and tails." How rude. I'm not a cosplay, and these tails and ears are very much real and very much useful and delicate. They don't take offense easily.

As we approach the counter, a woman in her mid 30's greets us with a smile directed at bear-man more then others

"Hey Jack, how're you doing today? Did you finish the quest?"

"Eeeh, nope. Still got no clue to whatever the hell happened in that forest. Can't find a single god damn monster over there."

"Is that so. Oh well, who are these guys then?"

"Ah, right. I brought them here for various reasons. First, this guy here" he shoves black-hair dude forward "Is here to register as an adventurer, and would like for you to register him."

That guy is getting on my nerves, he's looking not at the woman herself, but more like only looking at her breasts. I'm seriously reconsidering if I should stay with a guy like this, he might actually dare to ask if he can touch my tails or ears. I'll bite off his hands if he dares. Only people I approve of can do that, and that's only bear-man for now, and he still hasn't asked.

Coughing, the woman tried to get blackhair's attention back to herself, which he swiftly did, only to then stare back at her breasts. Irritated, the woman flicked him on the forehead, earning an "Aie! that hurt!" from black hairs.

"Good, now that you're listening I can explain how adventurer ranks work. There are 8 ranks for adventurers, and from lowest to highest they are f-d-c-b-a-s-ss-sss. In order to rise in rank you must complete 30 missions of the previous rank. Rising from s to ss requires a raccomendation or approval from the king, sss cases are special, as there are only 3 people with this rank."

"Thank's ma'm, could we register this guy here?" bearman asks, pointing at blackhairs, whom is still rubbing his forehead.

"Shure, please sign these papers and put your finger on this crystal."

Blackhairs does as she says and puts his finger on the crystal, which shines for a second. It then glows a strange white-yellow color.

The receptionist nods, and then turns to Yuuna "Ms, would you like to register as well?" Yuuna shakes her head at this "I'm already registered, we just came here for Masaki."

The receptionist nods, then she finally realizes I'm here. I get it, I'm short, you don't have to rub it in... Her eyes open wide while looking at me, and she simply freezes. I simply tilt my head to the side a bit and say "Yes?"

The receptionist literally jumps over the desk that was separating us and catches me while screaming "Cute!"

I struggle for a bit in her arms, but when she starts scratching my ears I melt like butter at this petting... It's.... unfair....

Yuuna meanwhile was simply looking at us wierd, as was everyone else in the guild. The receptionist finally realizes where we are, and let's me go. I'm not complaining, but pay attention to where you are before doing that again.

After that, we leave the guild and head to a wierd castle/huge mansion kind of building. As we approach the gates, two guards stop us for a second, before bowing to blackhairs and leaving. Am I underestimating the title 'Hero' here?

As we pass through hallways with beutiful stone statues, paintings and tasty-looking maids doing god knows what maids do, we finally arrive at a big door, on whom blackhair knocks a bit, and a voice booms out from behind the door "Enter".

I'm starting to wonder just why I've even brought here, the plan was to just enter the city, be dropped off somewhere, kill a bunch of people and take their money and then go adventure. Why did I end up with the king...? Oh, right. I just had to choose the god damn hero to escort me....

As we enter, the king looks suprised at me, and then turns to blackhairs with a questioning look. Blackhair just stick his tongue out and puts his hand on my head, which I immediatly slap away with one of my tails. He looks so funny when rejected, it seems like the world has ended.

"So, Hero Masaki, I see that perhaps heroes were right. The beastmen from your description do indeed exist, I didn't know."

Wait. Beastman aren't supposed to exist...?
