Chapter 35: Countdown to Madness

Chapter 35: Countdown to Madness

[3rd Person Pov]

Inside of a her lunar world, Alysha was silently staring at a mirror that showed the departing Kakashi and his gang. The two father(?) and son(?) had left beforehand after getting sort of revived, promising not to attack Konoha.

She couldn't help but feel envious. This was a new feeling to tell the truth, as she never really had anything she truly wanted. However, now that was different. No matter how much one denies it, humans are beings that crave for company, as would most sentient and intelligent beings.

Sure, she wasn't really human anymore, but she really wasn't anything else either. She silently pondered if hormones were finally getting at her, since due to her constant consuming she had grown to resemble a 16 years old by now.

Now, not only did she find herself more and more emotional and moody (Not that she wasn't before...), but she also began to sometimes daydream of... unspeakable acts. Mostly tearing people apart and drinking their blood though, but she actually meant sex, because that's obviously nastier then slowly skinning a baby alive and then eating him in front of his parents.

That said, that wasn't where the envy came from. No. That would be too easy. Ever since she was kidnapped 55ish years ago, she never had a friend ever since. Maybe Asu, but he doesn't count since she considered him more of a son then anything else.

Nobody ever stood in front of the blades people stabbed her with. Nobody ever cried with her. Nobody ever defended her from all the assassins that were after her.

No. Deep down, she knew why too. She was not someone worthy of the gift of 'friendship'. She knew herself enough to know that she would simply annoy the other person to no end and enjoy seeing them suffer.

That said, it did not mean she doesn't wish for someone to simply be there during her occasional breakdown. A simple wish, but for someone with her strenght and mental conditions, it is neigh impossible to obtain said wish.

She wiped her tear-stained face and looked once again inside of the mirror. She could see Itachi secretely stalking his own brother, probably planning some shit even she wasn't sure of. He was never a big talker, and recently he seemed to have become akin to a mute. He would never open conversation with her, sure, he was more open in general meaning he somewhat trusted her, but he never bothered to check on her.

Hugging her knees, she folded her 4 wings around her like a blanket whilst using her long tails as a pillow to rest her head on and simply let sleep overtake her. To tell the truth, with her immortality, she didn't really need to sleep at all as she would never get tired, but the mental strain was still there. Her head hurt like a bitch due to her rollercoaster called emotions.

For the first time in a long time, she dreamt. Naturally, her dreams were something a person would call a hellish nightmare, considering it consisted of rivers of blood and screaming people she tortured, but to her this just felt appropriate. Not necessarily good, just appropriate.

She grudgely woke up ten or so hours later, feeling perhaps even shittier then before. Her mood was extremely sour, but at least her head didn't hurt anymore.

Creating a mirror in front of her, she casually checked out what her huggie was doing. She wasn't quite satisfied with his performance as her hug-pillow, a title she had given him 12 seconds ago.

The mirror soon reflected Itachi's appearance as he was disguised and... inside of a village?

She kept observing him for 10 more minutes. He then entered what seemed to be an office-like building, still under disguise. The guards didn't attempt to stop him at all, so she figured that he was expected to be there. Perhaps an advanced assassination mission?

She quickly discarded the idea after she saw him bow in front of a figure even she couldn't help but recognize. The hokage of the Leaf village.

"Hello, Itachi. I see you've been doing well." The old hokage said with a small smile on his lips.

"Yes sir. I came to report information regarding the Akatsuki." Itachi responded in a monologue, sounding quite emotionless.

"Hm. Any moves from them?" Itachi shook his head. The hokage sighed slightly and said "What about the supposed-to-be new tailed beast?"

Alysha slightly tilted her head at the statement. A new tailed beast? That wasn't what happened in the anime though... Yeah, she's not dumb enough not to understand what he meant.

Itachi shook his head and said "I have no idea sir. She can pass through an intermediate dimension where she has absolute control, making her impossible to detect. She might even be observing us right now, but that's unlikely."

The hokage nodded and said "Right, so let's make this quick. We have prepared a trap, but we need you to lead her to it. The details I will send via messanges pigeon." Itachi stayed silent for a second but then said "Yes sir."

As for Alysha? She had already punched the mirror connecting them and was currently breathing harshly, her expression distorted in a mixture of pain, anger, regret, sadness and pure hatred. She had never felt more betrayed then this, and was still currently silently wishing 'Nothinghappenednothinghappenednothinghappened', as if trying to escape from reality.

'I should have ?????????????? ??????????! Now it all makes sense! This is why he didn't even bother talking to me!  H?? S???s ??? ??? ????????n?? ???R? ???€?? ?? ?Ø??s????R...'

Her teeth suddently shattered from the pure pressure of her clenching jaws. Her own skull was severely pierced by her own rage, but she couldn't care. They swiftly regrew and those imbedded in her upper jaw vanished, leaving it to quickly close by itself.

Soon, however, that all-consuming rage soon extinguished itself and only left a very hollow feeling. She felt empty.

Falling down on her butt, hurting herself quite a bit considering that's where her tails were, she soon began to sob uncontrollably. She felt ashamed of herself. This was the second time she had cried in the span of less then a day, and yet she couldn't help it.

The only person she remotely trusted and thought as a friend had just clearly betrayed her, recognizing her as nothing more then a beast, a monster to be slayed. No. Worst. To be controlled and used as a living weapon with no regards to her own feelings.

As she kept sobbing to herself, hugging her knees and folding her wings around her whilst laying in a fetal position, the feeling of emptiness only increased. She honestly couldn't even blame them for doing this. A small, naive part of her still clung to the belief that she just interpreted it wrong, but she clearly knew she didn't.

She couldn't even bring herself to want revenge. A small part of it was due to knowing that they only wanted to defend themselves against the psycopathic her, but the major part of it was due to Itachi. She couldn't help but feel her own heart clenching and constricting every time she thought about the moment he said 'Yes sir'.

He was the one and only person who didn't look horrified as she massacred people all around. He was the only one to be willing to deal with her shenanigans and insults. He even allowed her to use him for her own wants, from petting her to using him as a pillow.

As memories kept replaying in her mind, small tears kept running down her moist eyes. She buried her face in knees, desperately wishing she could simply disappear or die. Unfortunately, she couldn't die. She had tried every possible method, but none worked. Hell, even completely destroying herself was of no use, as she just magically reappeared from sheer nothing. It made no sense, and she hated it. She wanted to die so badly right now, but she could not.

Thus, she simply gave up. They want to seal her? Let them. Why should she even care? What even was the point in reaching this far? Why did she even want power? To not be enslaved? So what? Even if she kills them all, what's the point? Everything she eats tastes like shit anyways since everyone is too weak.

She eventually fell asleep once again whilst still sobbing. When she woke up once again, a splitting headache wasn't enough to categorize the amount of pain her head felt.

Getting up, she carefully wiped her still-teary face and created a new set of clothes, as the old ones were quite destroyed. Naturally, these clothes were black funeral clothes and had a sort of 'depressed' look.

She then created a mirror next to the currently-walking Itachi and walked in it. He wasn't even suprised at her sudden appearance, as it had become somewhat of the norm.

He merely glanced at her before continuing on. She wordlessly walked behind him, head looking down and tails between her legs.

They kept walking like this, each ensnared in their own different thoughts, with no idea what the other was thinking. Eventually, Alysha broke the ice saying "H-hey... What have you been up to?" Whilst forcing a small smile on her face. Itachi stopped for a second and then said "Just doing some work."

"I-I see... Uh... I'm curious, what do you think of me?" She said, trying to sound casual. Obviously failed, but Itachi couldn't quite pinpoint what she was getting at.

He walked for a bit without answering, thinking about it, then answered "I guess you're a crazy monster that suddently appeared one day without prior notification? bloodthirsty, random, hug-loving pervert who likes to shoot things?" He said with a small teasing smile on his lips before answring "And also my co-worker, so there's that." He said and didn't even glance back at her.

Meanwhile, Alysha was silently crying inside. 'Shameless. Not a hint of guilt.'. To be perfectly honest with herself, she wanted to peel his nails off one by one, tear out every single unnecessary organ whilst making sure he lives, then force-feed him children and have him murder his own brother by his own hand. Naturally, that would just be the beginning, but she couldn't bring herself to do it.

He had, after all, given her the best 3 months she ever had in her life. Going around doing fun missions, occasionally tormenting him or simply teasing, killing people left and right... He even allowed her to use him for whatever whims she occasionally had, and even put up with her shenanigans.

Naturally, she had to admit that it would fit the anime character that he would indeed betray her for the sake of the village. Hell, he even killed his own family for it. Even if she swore that she would help out his village the first time they met, he obviously wasn't buying it despite her being sincere about it.

Thus, they kept walking and walking. Alysha would sometimes try to chit-chat, but would end up too depressed to actually speak. As for Itachi, he was as silent as always.

Eventually, they reached what seemed to be an old abandoned village, and there Itachi stopped and turned to her. She looked at him with a sad expression on her face. She would probably end up killing them all if they actually tried to seal her, which was bound to fail if they tried as that was obviously considered 'slavery', and she was technically immune to slavery.

"Our mission consists of simply digging up some sort of treasure. It should be a ring and... Well, let's go." He said, before turning once again and heading into the village.

Alysha simply released a small sigh. That was obviously a horrible excuse for a mission, and she would have believed it if she didn't know something was up. She could only blame herself for her foolishness though, as this was all within expectations. Or it should have been, at least.

She followed after Itachi through the abandoned streets. They spent an hour or so visiting house to house, searching for a 'ring'. Well, that is until Mr.Betrayer suddently stopped and silently said

"I'm sorry."
