Chapter 36: New Year’s Eve and the Party in Stormwind

New Year’s Eve in Azeroth was a special kind of magic. Imagine this: Blizzard outdid themselves with a party that made any real-world New Year’s Eve celebration look like a Tuesday morning in the office. We’re talking free drinks that never spilled, fireworks that lit up the sky like a celestial disco, and a party atmosphere that could make even the grumpiest of gnomes crack a smile.

So, there we were, the Guardians of the Circle, invited to experience the grand event from the Stormwind side of RP. Now, don’t get me wrong—we’d crossed paths with the humans of Stormwind before, usually while battling in dungeons or raiding the ever-terrifying Blackrock Depths. But this was different. This was an invitation to party with the humans, where everyone else seemed to RP in Stormwind or Ironforge, and elves, well, we had our cozy little corner in Darnassus.

We rolled up to the festivities in style, or at least we thought so. The Stormwind City Guards were there in all their finery, giving us looks that could only be described as a mix between “you guys are awesome” and “who let the circus in?” The nobles of Stormwind, with names like Lord Sootsnoot and Lady Dallaflap, were decked out in their finest outfits, looking every bit like they had stepped straight out of a high fantasy novel.

And then there was us—the Guardians of the Circle. Picture this: a line of epic sabres strutting down the street, each one looking like it had been borrowed from a high-budget elf epic. Anthonius, our resident paladin, was the star of the show. He rode in on his super shiny paladin horse, which, frankly, looked like it had been dipped in holy light. The horse leaked so much light it could have easily been mistaken for a mobile sun. Anthonius, with his glowing mount, was practically a walking, neighing beacon of righteousness.

As we made our grand entrance, conversations began:

Lord Sootsnoot: “Ah, welcome, Guardians of the Circle. Quite the entrance you’ve made!”

Lady Dallaflap: “Indeed! Your… um, mount seems to be emitting an impressive amount of light. Is that a new spell?”

Anthonius: “Oh, this old thing? Just a bit of divine radiance. You should see it in the dark.”

Me (Laoise): “And here I was worried we’d be the only ones dressed up. Glad to see we’re not the only ones channeling ‘Lord of the Rings’ vibes.”

Kersey: (eyeing the nobles) “And here I thought my rogue outfit was going to make us blend in. Now I just look like a sneaky thief at a royal ball.”

Elandariel: “If you think that’s something, check out Caroline’s mage robes. She looks like a walking glitter explosion.”

Caroline: “Hey, I wanted to sparkle for the occasion!”

The party itself was a blast. The Stormwind City Guards, usually known for their stern faces and no-nonsense attitude, were surprisingly good sports. They had us all in stitches with their attempts at ballroom dancing, which, let’s just say, looked like an epic battle between a group of level 1 peasants and a raid boss.

And the free drinks—oh, the free drinks. There were so many that even the most seasoned of players had trouble staying upright. At one point, the city’s water supply was in danger of being replaced with an endless stream of ale. And as for the fireworks, they were so spectacular that even the dragons in the nearby mountains came to watch. I’m pretty sure they were as confused as we were.

By the end of the night, as the clock struck midnight, we all raised our glasses (or tankards, in some cases) and toasted to a new year filled with more adventures, more epic gear, and more memorable moments.

Our first New Year’s Eve party in Stormwind was a hilarious, magical, and somewhat chaotic affair. We left with sore sides from laughing, a few too many drinks, and the best memories of our time together as a guild. The circle may still be a mystery, but the fun we had was crystal clear.
