Tough Battle

Comrade and William sprinted at full speed toward the bronze-level worms coming toward them. Comrade had chosen the stronger one in front of William and had gone straight for it. He knew that William was still at the iron level and did not want to endanger him.

William realized, albeit too late, that the worm Comrade was being attacked by was stronger. He frowned for a moment but decided not to care After killing this early Bronze-level worm, he would still have time to help Comrade.

When William reached the last fifty meters, he activated his bloodline power and movement technique. Like the previous one, he moved to kill quickly, using all his power in one go.

However, just as he was about to attack, he encountered an attack he had never seen before. These Bronze-level creatures naturally had some intelligence and had learned their lessons from the three Iron-level friends who had just died. Two giant worms stood side by side, fifty meters apart. Suddenly, a yellow light emanated from their bodies. Comrade and William sensed danger at the same time. William jumped quickly with all his might. At that moment, an earth spell came out from underneath them, just like Baldur's!

It was a spell cast by two bronze-level worms together, and it was many times stronger than Baldur's spell. For the moment Comrade and William jumped, those earth nails were faster and bigger than Baldur's earth nails. They had reached the ceiling of the huge cave, blocking their way back like prison bars, except for a few tiny holes!

William looked at Comrade and was relieved to see him unharmed. They should have been grateful to have narrowly escaped this spell. If they had been wounded, their fighting power would have been reduced even further.

For the first time, William spoke in his mind. To the Comrade: "We have to kill one of them first."

Meanwhile, the two worms screamed again at the same time. "ZIIIIII!!!" Their voices were strong enough to make an ordinary person's ears bleed. William responded to their screams. However, the two worms cast another spell. A yellow light appeared around them again, and this time, the sense of danger came not from the ground, but directly from the worms themselves. As the yellow light appeared around the two worms, the earth on the ground rose. Layer after layer surrounded the bodies of the two worms. It had formed a perfect earth armor!

Even worse, with the formation of this earth armor, on the one hand, earth spears were formed with this earth armor! Worst of all, with the formation of the earth spears, the earth armor did not diminish, and the new earth kept rising from the ground to fill in the gaps.

William and Comrade were stunned by this sight. This was the first time they had encountered a magic-using creature, and it was only weak worms they had fought several times before!

Faced with this sight, Comrade remembered an old piece of advice. He had been warned about this before! All the high-level wolves had been hesitant to go to Worm Mountains. That was why they hadn't gone after William before. Now he understood better why.

William felt the same emotion as him. He even realized that the bloodline power, the terrifying and oppressive power within him, did not apply to these two worms at all. This meant that the ancestor of these worms was either stronger than the Moon Swallowing Wolf or at the same level!

William began to worry now. Even though he had eight drops of qi and bloodline power, he still felt that he had to be careful. While the two of them were struggling with these thoughts, earth spears were already coming towards them!

What made William happy was that their speed wasn't fast enough. He was confident that he could dodge these spears as long as he continued to use the foot technique and the power of the bloodline. But the real question was how long these worms would use this spell. If their reserves were higher than William's, after his qi was depleted, he would have to fight a terrifyingly powerful creature relying only on his body's strength!

But there was no other tactic he could use at the moment. He couldn't get close because of the earth spears. The defensive technique was also out of the question. He felt that he would not last long under the barrage of those earth spears and that he would have to expend more qi. It was just basic fighting instinct. William began to use what he thought was the most correct tactic.

Just dodge!

That was the only tactic. From time to time, he looked at his comrade to see that he was in a better position than he was. His fur had turned shiny black and he seemed to be one with the wind as he ran from corner to corner in the cave. Sometimes William even thought his eyes were wrong because when he lost eye contact for a moment, the Comrade would appear far away from his previous position.

William felt more pressure for fear of being humiliated by his pet. But in this case, he did not give up. Deep thoughts in his mind kept telling him that he could train more and become stronger.

After a while, William began to adapt to the situation. He had been practicing his foot technique as best he could for several days. And right now, he seemed to be experiencing a slight enlightenment-like state! As if he closed his eyes, he would still be able to escape from these earth spears.

Unconsciously, he had learned to use the foot technique to its highest level. His movements were now smoother, and even the sound of footsteps when he stepped on the ground had been reduced to a minimum. It was too little to be heard if one did not listen carefully.

But! No matter how good his foot technique was, it would not be enough for him to reach his current state of enlightenment. The main reason for this was not his foot technique, but his bloodline power. In fact, with this enlightenment, William learned to use his senses better and to react quickly enough with his foot technique!

If we assume that the combination of foot technique and bloodline power is one hundred percent, then the foot technique was at most thirty percent. The rest was the benefit of the bloodline power.

William felt more comfortable now. Right now, he felt in the same situation as the Comrade he had just watched and envied. And he closed his eyes, unable to contain his curiosity!

The moment he closed his eyes, his senses sharpened even more, as he had expected. Especially his ears, nose, and even his sixth sense, which most people consider a special blessing, had increased!

Although his eyes were now closed, he could use his other senses to predict the moment the earth spear would form and the direction it would move.

William was like a twin ghosts with Comrade now inside the dark cave. No matter how dense and fast the earth spears were, they could not reach them. Sometimes the earth spears would appear to be pierced, but that would only be an afterimage!

Since the two worms had some intelligence, they decided to make their moves bigger so as not to mess with these 'two little worms'. The intensity of the yellow light emanating from their bodies increased, and the earth spears began to change. It could be seen that the earth armor on their bodies was now thinning faster. But more and more powerful earth spears[1] began to form. They were many times thicker and longer!

William and Comrade understood that this was their chance. They both acted at the same time. William was thrown to the worm opposite Comrade, and Comrade was thrown to the worm opposite William. They had a certain insight, just like members of the pack who had been hunting together for years. This was because both of them had the same bloodline, and their minds were bound by a contract.

The two worms combined their powers to throw large spears as thick as their heads. By the time they threw the first volley, they were already tens of meters away from their target. The first volley was a failure. Just seeing the spears stuck in the floor of the cave, the two worms got angry and started screaming louder. It was as if they were pushing their powers to the limit.

As they were about to launch the second volley, they realized that the two were now closer to them. This was an opportunity for them! Closer meant less room for mistakes. The clearer the view, the better.

But the second volley missed again. This time the two worms had blood in their eyes. They wanted to kill these two 'worms' at any cost, as soon as possible. Their two small, jet-black eyes were hidden so deep that you couldn't see them at night, but now they were both red and twice as big. Vaguely red blood vessels could be seen in their eyes. They decided to use their last reserve of power for this attack. Each of them focused on a different target. They waited patiently until the end. Then an unexpected situation arose. Comrade and William jumped into the air at the same time!

The two of them had swapped places, and they were right in the middle of each other's eyes! Without thinking, they both saw this as an opportunity! Since they were in the air, it would be harder than usual to change direction to avoid the spears. They used every last bit of the power within them.

By this time, both worms had nearly twenty earth spears around them! In an instant, they broke through the air and plunged into the two of them! Time seemed to stand still for William. His eyes were still closed. He had been preparing for this move for the past few minutes. The two worms had put all their power into this move, and both Comrade and William had gambled on it!

At that moment, William transferred almost all of his qi into the foot technique! The white flame that normally appeared about the size of a head grew large enough to cover all of his legs. In fact, a wave of flame stretched two meters from under his feet! With this power, William narrowly escaped the earth spear[1] in the air that would normally have struck his hip. Just a few more inches and William would have been called "Legless William". But at that moment, he had staked everything on this and was determined to win.

This escape proved how right he was.

Things seemed more bitter for the Comrade, but they were better. Even though his large body was a bigger target, his strength was at bronze level. And his movement speed was definitely better than William's. The black fur on his body became brighter when he saw the earth spear coming towards him. Like the moon, it shone with a silver light. Unexpectedly, he made a walking motion in the air. Then, as if he were Wind's beloved son, a gust of wind blew from behind him and gently pushed him away. The spear that had just come towards him was now under his claws, and he took another step forward, pushing the super-fast spear with his claws.

They both disappeared from the spears in an instant and reached the safe zone. By this time, both of them had jumped several meters higher than the worms.

Meanwhile, two worms had seen with their own eyes that the other two 'worms' had escaped. But before they could get angry and launch another attack, they sensed a tremendous danger coming towards them. When they looked down from the two of them and saw the source of the danger, they saw each other's eyes and the giant earth spears they had created.

They were completely helpless to escape this danger! Those spears they had created with the last remnants of their strength had now turned into the scythe of an angel of death! They had no earth shields, and their power was weak! What a pity...

"Puchi." "Puchi." "Puchi." "Puchi." "Puchi-." "Puchi-." "Puchi-." "Puchi-." "Puchi-." "Puchi-."

More than twenty earth spears entered the bodies of the two worms! It was such a painful and bloody scene!

Both worms were nailed to two different walls of the cave by the momentum of the spears! They were both dead on the spot! The condition of the other heads was not good at all. Even though their heads and tails were not targeted by the spears, ninety percent of their bodies had already been pierced by the spears!

Soon, the other two heads became lifeless as well.

William and Comrade had landed as well. William immediately dropped to his knees. The move he had just made had cost him dearly. His leg was now full of small and large wounds. Forcing more qi through the meridians had put a heavy strain on both of his legs. He quickly took out a healing potion from his dimensional bag and drank it. Since his wounds were inside, all he could do was wait for the potion to heal him from the inside over time. Not being able to move his legs for a few minutes was a huge disadvantage in battle, but William felt it was worth it. After all, they were able to kill those worms.

Meanwhile, Comrade came to him. He sniffed his head sadly and licked his face. In an instant, the little jealousy and anger that William had before disappeared. A friendly expression appeared on his face.

Even though he couldn't stand up, he said, "Comrade, high-five! He raised one hand in the air. The comrade didn't understand at first but felt that their movements had to be synchronized as they had just done. He raised his own right paw and slapped William's right hand!

"Arghh!" William immediately regretted his decision. For at the moment they hit, a few scratches appeared on his hand. His bones were almost visible!

"Damn it! Who forged these claws?" but the moment he saw Comrade's innocent and remorseful face, his anger immediately subsided. "My fault, my fault! I am not strong enough. We will do better in the future. Just wait until I am stronger." He said and smiled.

The comrade was also cheered by his smile.

"Damn!" William thought about his stupidity. "Comrade, run! Call Baldur! The blood is wasted!" William cursed himself several times. He was lost in emotion, spending emotional time with the Comrade. In this one minute flood of emotions, he had forgotten for what purpose they had come here.

The time the two fought lasted only a few minutes, though it felt like a century to them. Baldur hadn't even finished draining the blood from the other worms. Since William was currently unable to move and his Qi was so low, he hadn't even considered letting Comrade take him to the worms and try to purify their blood.

He would not be able to use the system for several hours until his qi was restored.

In a short time, Comrade reached Baldur. He saw him constantly changing the barrels under the worms. He asked him to come over and talk to him, but there was no time. He quickly ran behind him and hid his head between his legs. Since Baldur was big enough, his legroom was also big enough. But there was one thing Comrade hadn't taken into account, and that was his weight! He felt so damn heavy!

It was as if he had a mountain on his back. Still, he was at the limit of his endurance, and gritting his teeth, he carried him to the other side of the cave as fast as he could. He had a particularly hard time going through the earth nails.

Baldur was also surprised to see what had happened, but as he passed behind the nails, he realized what had happened.

He could tell by the worried look on William's face and his haste that he was afraid the blood would go to waste. "I got it!" he said without waiting for William to speak. He said, allowing the Comrade to lead him to the worm in the middle of the bronze level, nailed to the wall. He quickly placed as many barrels as he could under the worm's corpse, and with a few earth spears, he made a hole in the worm's body at the level of those barrels. When he saw that the blood was flowing, he quickly ran to the other worm and did the same to it. He had brought about a hundred barrels with him, so there was no need to worry about them getting full. They needed to take as much blood as possible because he felt that a little extra blood was needed because of William's concern.

They shouldn't waste any opportunity. Besides, he saw that William was too injured to get up for the moment. After placing the barrels, he turned to William. His panting and exhausted state worried him.

"Are you okay William?" Baldur shouted. He had turned under the worm where he had placed the first barrels and was replacing the filled barrels with new ones.

William shook his head and said calmly, "I'm fine. I drank a good quality healing potion. I'll be all right soon."

Baldur nodded. He wanted to offer him a potion, but even the best potion he had was a good quality potion. More wouldn't do much good.

[1] : I didn't want to say 'spear'. 'Lance' seemed more appropriate. But I think I've described it well.

Note: Don't forget to leave a review! It was an exhausting chapter.
