William had cleared the remaining four towers very quickly. In fact, there wasn't even a wizard in the last tower at the south gate. William thought that the bright light that appeared on the battlefield was most likely caused by the wizard who was supposed to be here. When he cleared the last tower, his father's men had also begun to clear the city.
In the last tower, he encountered twenty of those soldiers. He had learned from them that they had won the battle at the eastern gate, and then had gone towards the palace with his grandfather Thedo's army. He quickly reached the palace by jumping from the rooftops, taking on the role of a scout himself to warn them early of any danger.
When he came to the palace, he was met with the same annoying sight as Thedo. Still, he kept his guard up and walked around the palace. He was relieved when he found the main hall and saw the king he thought was dead. By that time, his father, Arthur, and his grandfather had entered the main hall. He looked for a while their actions, and especially Arthur's actions. He had not deliberately made a sound, did not show that he was there. He didn't do this because of any secret. He just did it to avoid unnecessary questions.
But those scenes he saw later upset his mood-state balance. In fact, nothing had been said about him, but he felt worthless. He had expected them to at least feel some worry.
William was now climbing the rampart-like walls of the palace. A beautiful sight greeted him as he climbed the ten-meter-high wall. Thousands of people gathered in the main square, dancing to the accompaniment of songs. Some families were lamenting over some corpses. Some families were also muttering something silently at the head of some corpses. The sun was rising in the east, at the gate where the battle had begun, warming the still-hot corpses there to give off a more pleasant aroma. People were throwing the torches in their hands on the famous light magician Jaymond The III, the ancestors who founded this kingdom, whom they had destroyed before. The white marble was now slowly darkening from the fire.
It was a sight to behold for William. He had never seen a great war or anything like it in his previous life. So it was a lesson to him. Being soft-hearted was nothing but a useless behavior in this world. Such good things were like a person missing an arm or a leg. You could never fight well!
Even after William stood on top of the wall for a while and stared at the beautiful view, he could not calm his anger. He was still angry with his family. It was as if he had a scale on his head right now and one side was trying to keep pushing while the other was trying to balance.
He jumped from the top of the wall and mingled with the crowd. He put a fake smile on his face. He walked straight to Master Mo's shop. Thoughts were still gnawing at his flesh in his mind. Although mostly bad, William was forcing himself to calm down.
He then paused as he turned a corner for Master Mo's shop. He put his hand on the wall and lowered his head. 'This…this body? Am I entering puberty?'
He then quickly denied himself. 'No…no-no, even though my body is still young, I've lived two lives. I must be middle-aged by now. I was twenty-four when I died. Now mentally I can count as thirty-eight maybe forty?'
William felt himself suppressing more and more as he tried to shake thoughts of anger out of his mind that his family had mistreated him. He really thought that he was acting like a teenager, that his parents hadn't thought of him at all, that silly thoughts combined with pure anger inside him made him say these things.
'I wonder…Could it be because of bloodline?' When William asked this question to himself, the scene where Reyis got angry with him came to mind.
“You may not inherit his feelings, but this boy will inherit everything from his blood! Even his hate!” Reyis said these words because he gave the wolf bloodline to the insidious bastard, the moon-swallowing wolf.
'Is this because of that kind of ridiculous hatred combined with my youth?' he thought.
"No, I can't be that weak mentally." He said these words out loud without realizing it.
A man passing by at that moment heard her talk and smiled. "Don't worry, that's how everyone sees a corpse for the first time, you'll get used to it, young man." He tried to comfort him.
William lifted his head and looked into the man's eyes with his sharp eyes.
The man trembled with fear when he saw these eyes. But William's next expression put him at ease.
“Oh, really! I'm better now, thank you." William removed his hand from the wall and spoke with a smile.
The man said, “Yes… Yes.. Good day, young man!” he said and quickly walked away.
William glanced carefully at his back as the man turned and hurried back the way he had come. It was as if something inside him wanted to eat him alive.
The ordinary citizen of the city felt a pair of eyes on his back even though he turned and walked quickly. But he resisted the urge to look back until the end. After turning a corner, the feeling of being watched and hunted disappeared. Leaning against the wall, he took a deep breath.
“Young people are very dangerous these days!” he complained. Just then, a passerby saw his sweaty forehead and frightened trembling body. He approached him and asked.
"What's wrong with you?"
“Ayy! Damn it! You scared me." The man was shocked when he heard a voice next to him and jumped in fright. “Oh, soldier?” The man relaxed again and recounted the scene just now.
Listening patiently to him, the soldier could tell that someone with such a strong killing intent was definitely not the first to see a corpse, and it was definitely someone who had blood on their hands before.
"Where? Show me." Said. "Of Course! Yes!." The man agreed and went back to the same corner. He sneaked around the corner and showed the place where the young man was, but the place he pointed to was empty. “He was just there.” Said.
Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
“Okay, you wait here. If I'm not back for a long time, notify the patrol." Said. Then he put his spear on his shoulder and boldly advanced to the indicated place. When he came to that little alley, he saw that the street was empty. He searched the area for a long time, but could not find anyone. He then came back to the man's place and said that he had found nothing and that he was probably already gone.
The man said, “It's okay, it was most likely a misunderstanding. I could be wrong.” Said.
The soldier said, “I hope so. But I'll have to report it anyway, no remnants of the old king should survive.” Said.
"Of course!" The man nodded and they started walking towards the main square together. The only common topic of conversation between them was about their new king and their bright future.
William continued on his way after the man had left. The war had hardly touched this part of the city. In fact, this was where he expected the most bloodshed, but the capital's merchants were indeed clever. Most merchants thought that the kingdom would be completely defeated this time. The majority had fled. After that, they would come back in a few days. After all, the city had not been plundered, and most of the buildings stayed untouched.
William had already calmed down. As if it would be better if there were no people around. He had resolved this anger in his mind, and he attributed it to entering puberty. It was a hormonal issue and would have been resolved in a few years. When he looked at his body, it was almost fully grown. He thought he didn't even have to wait that long. Probably a year was enough.
He always had a bright smile on his face when he looked down. Maybe because of his father and grandfather's genes, maybe because he was trying to be strong since he was little, the friend at the bottom was also 'strong'.
What was upsetting him was that beards were slowly starting to grow on his baby-like face. There were no razors in this world. There was something like a razor, but William was not optimistic about it. He had witnessed a barber's cut once, he cut very badly and those razor-style knives were never washed. On the same day, he was shaving hundreds of people by simply blowing the hairs on him without cleaning them.
Fortunately, he didn't have a lot of hair yet, so he was in no rush to do so.
Awakening from his innocent thoughts, he found himself in front of Master Mo's shop.
He walked in, the doorbell rang. He heard a voice from above. "I'm coming." It was the voice of the girl who had helped him at night.
A short time later he saw the girl come down the stairs. Her sleepy eyes were enough to explain what she had just done upstairs.
"Ah! Prince William!” he said, smiling slightly, bowing slightly.
William immediately raised his hand. “You don't need to call me that. William is fine.” Said. He then asked, “Isn't there Master Mo?”
The young girl invited him to the seats inside and after he sat down, he took a pillow in his lap and spoke. “Master went to join the celebration.”
Disappointment appeared on William's face. It was clear that he wouldn't be able to get his daggers today. "When will he arrive?" he asked.
“He doesn't come before evening, he will meet the suppliers, now the war is over, we have to get back to work.” Said.
“Fine, I was going to ask about my order. It's okay, I'll come in the evening. By the way, are you a blacksmith's apprentice too?" said. He was excited to think that a cute little girl like her would turn into a muscular blacksmith in the future.
The little girl replied with a sigh of exasperation. “No, I'm his mage apprentice. I don't have much talent, but my master said he's not talented either. If I work hard, I can be like him one day.” Said.
William saw the boredom and disbelief in her eyes. “Don't worry, you can do it if you try hard enough.” he wanted to motivate her.
The little girl replied sarcastically. “Heh, that's what Mr. Prince says. I'm seventeen, but I'm still not even an apprentice mage."
'Seventeen? Seventeen…Seventeen…Seventeen damned!' William looked in disbelief at the girl who had just said she was seventeen but her body said the opposite. He wanted to say something, but he thought it might upset her even more. After all, he wasn't even fifteen yet, but he had the strength to match a bronze rank warrior.
So he quickly changed the subject. “Is there a place where I can stay until the evening? Most of the inns were empty, I could not find a place to stay.” He didn't want to go to the army camp right now. Most likely the camp was in the process of being moved now. Nor did he want to be free in the empty inn.
“You can sleep here if you want, when the master comes in the evening, you can go.” Said. She pointed to the seat that William was currently sitting on.
"Thank you." William didn't care. He leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes. 'How nice it would be if there was a phone now!' he couldn't help but think. His body hardly needed sleep. He could endure a few days of sleeplessness. He was just mentally tired.
He quickly fell asleep under the bewildered gaze of the little girl. Soon the little but seventeen-year-old girl sighed and went upstairs in frustration.
…
In the evening, William awoke to the sound of the door opening. Looking at the door with sleepy eyes, he saw Master Mo enter. He quickly straightened his seat and yawned briefly.
“Oh, Prince William,” Master Mo smiled and walked over to him.
“Master Mo, I am not used to such addresses, please.” William pointed to the seat next to him.
"As you wish." Later, Master Mo took out a dimensional bag from his chest and placed it on the table.
William was intrigued and picked up the dimensional bag as he felt it had taken off for him. A smile appeared on his face as he looked inside. But he still had to ask. “How did you find it so quickly and at such a time?”
Master Mo sighed, “Don't ask, I had to beg some of my old merchant friends for this. Since most of them were new to the city, they brought a lot of weapons and armor with them, and I had no choice but to pay a little extra as the first to catch them.” Said.
"Didn't I say money isn't important?" William was still smiling. He calculated the money in his pocket now. The number of soul stones he had captured was in the tens of thousands. To be exact, he had “92,548 low-level, 83 mid-level soul stones.”
He could not see a higher than advanced apprentice-level dagger inside the dimensional bag. He took it as the highest price. There were a total of three thousand daggers inside the dimensional bag, neither more nor less.
He pretended to think and muttered something, “From here and there, are twelve thousand soul stones enough?”
Master Mo instantly became a fool with his words. He quickly thrust his hands forward, “No, that's too much. I've already bought more than half of it for gold. Worthless, Even five thousand ain't worth it.” Said.
William could see that he was frightened by such a price. He was constantly lowering himself in front of him. "Okay then, here we go." He put the soul stones in the dimensional bag of the first prince he killed. He gave him a total of five thousand soul stones. “Think of it as a reward.”
Master Mo took the dimensional bag with excitement and some sadness. He couldn't help but smile when he saw the amount in it. “This way, if I can become a true wizard, I will adore you like an ancestor.” Said.
"Hahaha, don't make jokes like that, maybe one day I'll think it's real, like other princes." Said. William himself made a joke.
“Hahaha!” Master Mo also replied with a smile.
William then stood up and prepared to leave.
"Are you going? You can spend the night here if you want.” It was just getting dark outside. Still, Master Mo asked out of courtesy.
“No, I have to go to the palace. I'm curious about the state of ours." William yawned firmly.
“Okay, let me tell you in advance, they have already finished cleaning the palace. The soldiers found a teleport array, and Mr. Arthur is currently investigating it.” There was deep hatred in his eyes as he said this. He was shouting inside. 'How can a person be so selfish!' He had heard the rumors behind this teleportation sequence.
“Then there is no reason for me to stay at the inn tonight.” William smiled and headed for the door. Then he left with calm, slow steps.
