Thedo watched William run after him at full speed, worried. He even thought his eyes were playing tricks on him. His own grandson could not even see the silhouette of the little grandson he had always trained and beaten as he ran. With his bronze rank power, he had never expected to face such a situation.
Even Arthur next to him was utterly bewildered. William's speed was only slightly slower than his own magic. Since this was a second-level spell, he had thanked William for not losing. He felt that otherwise his pride would be hurt.
After a short pause, Thedo quickly turned to one of the men behind him. “Run! Tell Theo to bring the army as soon as possible!” Then he turned to face the door again.
One of the dark-skinned men behind him, looking strong, replied immediately. "Yes, sir." And he started running.
Men began to appear in rows on the top of the walls. He counted nearly a thousand capital soldiers. Then these soldiers paved the way for someone. Last time, it was the man Thedo spoke to surrender.
“ Cassdo! It's still not too late! Let go of your stubbornness!” Thedo shouted out, looking at his old face.
Cassdo folded his hands behind his back and shouted at Thedo. “Thedo! Your little tricks won't work, ancestor mages appeared! Whoever you sent, wait for me to hang his body on the walls!”
Thedo and Arthur's eyes showed a hint of concern for a moment, but they quickly tried to maintain their expressions.
The soldiers behind him seemed pleased with his answer. They all let out a war cry in unison.
But Cassdo's thoughts were different. He didn't want to lose any of these soldiers. Even one. But he was helpless. This damned shield was not only preventing outsiders from entering, but also preventing insiders from leaving. Combined with the mission he had sworn in, this war had become inevitable for him. Meanwhile, he saw the torches in the distance. Theo seemed to have gathered half the army. The other half was bringing the campsite closer to the south gate. That was all he could tell from the torches in the dark of night.
In a short time, Theo arrived in front of the east gate.
“Two thousand infantrymen, five hundred archers, one hundred apprentice magicians proficient in attacks.” He spoke after approaching Thedo.
“Get the infantry ahead of us. They will lead the attack, place the mages behind, and finally the archers on either side.” Thedo gave him the order.
"Yes, sir!" Theo did not dare to call him father, even though he was his father. He quickly ran back and began to signal. The army was formed in a short time.
Everything was ready. Now all they had to wait was William. But Cassdo's words worried him deeply. Ancestor mages were his greatest fear. These people were the original people who devoured all the wealth of the kingdom. They were powerful, but their strength came from the joint labor of millions of people.
“Do you think William can defeat an ancestral mage?” Thedo asked Arthur next to him.
Arthur had his hands folded across his chest. “How can I know? I've never seen William fighting, but he should be able to escape even though his speed can't kill the mage. After all, this stupid but talented family refuses our spells and insists on using their own. It will be their arrogance that will finish them off.” Said.
Thedo 's teary eyes were still on Cassdo on the walls. He managed to catch the worried expression on his face. But he knew what was causing his anxiety. Cassdo knew that he had trained all his soldiers to protect his homeland, not his capital, and he was worried because he was afraid he would lose those young soldiers in such a senseless war.
Arthur then continued to speak. “He's a second-level mage, and he's using the element of light. An almost impossible task for William, I hope he succeeds.” Said.
Meanwhile, they saw a movement on the walls. Thedo immediately raised his fist. Thousands of soldiers and mages behind were waiting for his fist to point at the enemy walls.
Cassdo was shaken by the news. He was shocked by the news of the soldiers who said they lost the mouse that went through the small hole. It was a young boy in his twenties who brought him the news. It wasn't even iron level yet. Cassdo got angry and shouted, holding that soldier by the neck. “Fuck off! Look at the east tower! Look at the south tower! Find me that man! Now!" The surprised soldier didn't even waste time rubbing his aching throat, he immediately came down from the walls and started running. At that time, something began to happen that Cassdo would not have thought of even though he had dreamed of it for years.
The shield above was encircling the entire capital in a round shape. This shield was just like a cake and was cut into six pieces. Now, the piece of cake next to him, standing right in front of him, had lost its color for a moment. Although it was quickly regenerated, it could be understood that someone was attacking it. He furrowed his brows and glared at Thedo with his teary eyes. He saw Thedo raising his hand expressionlessly, ready to strike at any moment.
He couldn't wait any longer, he immediately shouted. “Fill in the blanks on the wall! Archers three steps back! Get ready!”
He then touched his dimensional bag at his waist. He pulled out a few crates of potion bottles filled with a light blue liquid.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
“Master Borgh! Come distribute these to your men! Let them use as much as they want! Bomb them from behind the wall!” said. There was a spit on his face as he shouted.
A bare-footed man in gray robes and plain linen clothes came and took the crates. He went down below the walls and scattered it to twenty men across from him. Meanwhile, his lips moved, but no one pretended to hear any sound. Everyone took the potions and began to wait.
Then the thing Cassdo feared most happened. After a few more times the remainder had faded, suddenly a huge hole opened up. This hole covered the entire eastern gate of the capital and with it at least more than five hundred meters.
In Thedo's eyes, he saw his expressionless and calm face. It was a complete contrast to himself.
Thedo raised his fist high and shouted, pointing to the capital. “ CHAAAARRRGEEE!!!”
“CHAAAARRRGEE!!” Theo backed up from behind with all the air in his lungs.
“CHAAAAAAAAARRGEEEEEEEEE!!” With a small spell, Arthur raised his voice and spread it until there was not a single person in the capital who could not hear it. Even innocent babies who were asleep woke up with his shout and started to cry.
Then Arthur waited for the warriors to attack from the front. “Fire mages! Just focus on the broken door!” yell.
After him, a fireball the size of dozens of human heads made its way towards the huge doors. When they hit, they disintegrate and leave minor burns. "Go on! Non-stop!" Arthur shouted and took a few steps forward when he saw the infantry ahead of him resting against the walls.
Then he bent down and recited a short spell. Rows of pillars began to rise at the bottom of the walls. These pillars, made with earth magic, would remain intact until Arthur died. The soldiers jumped from these pillars and reached the top of the wall, and the real bloody war began.
…
Meanwhile, William gets up from his seat in the small arms shop. He made a yawning motion. "Ah! I finally recovered completely.”
He then turned and spoke to Master Mo. “Master Mo, can I ask you something?” said.
Although Master Mo was a bit taken aback and still not fully confident, he nodded in response. “Is there something you want?”
“Yes, I want a weapon from you. Dagger. There must be at least a thousand. It does not matter its level, strength, material from which it is made. Just the more the better.” Said.
Master Mo found his request strange. 'What will he do with so many daggers?' he thought, but he should have told the truth.
“In normal times it wasn't a problem, I would have done it with my apprentices in two days, but right now the supply of supplies in the capital is almost completely stopped. So there is nothing I can do.” He said sadly.
"Ah! No problem. Time is not important. It can happen after the war. But remember, the more, the better. I'll pay myself, with soul stones.” Said. There was a thin smile on his lips. Now that money was not a problem, he should have used the system more actively. He was looking forward to the surprises he would encounter.
He slowly straightened his clothes and made his way to the back door of the shop. It was time to leave. He wanted to destroy the other towers as soon as possible and take their loot for himself.
But as he reached the door, voices from inside disturbed him. Along with him, more than thirty rebels inside stood up and straightened their swords and armor. He guessed they wanted to follow him or join the battle.
William could not bear the involvement of these civilians in the war. He knew they could help, but they would only serve as a distraction and kill a few more soldiers. Maybe Master Mo could be more helpful as a mage.
William couldn't stand it and decided to make small talk. He turned and looked at the crowd. “My friends, victory is certain! Don't risk your life! Remember we are fighting for you! Master Mo! There will be bigger wars. You will have to contribute much more in the future, don't put yourself at risk now.” Said. He said his last words while looking into Master Mo's eyes.
Master Mo froze in place. His eyes were wide open. Only one thing came to mind from William's words.
"Is it possible?!" he asked. He then continued. “Is that what all these wars are for?” said.
William didn't know what he meant, but when he thought of his own words, he thought he was asking to get off the island. "Yup! That's all for it! Just wait!" he said, and then turned and walked out the back door of the shop. He jumped off the small wall in one step and disappeared into the night.
The people in the shop immediately wanted to follow after him, but Master Mo stopped them. “Stop! There's no need! We don't need to join this war! For now, stand still for a greater war." His excited eyes were dazzled by the small candlelight. “Carpenter, blacksmith or tailor, everyone must live to fight a greater war.” Said. Then he came to the door and looked in the direction where William had disappeared.
His body looked a few years younger. His back was straight now, his eyes sharper. He felt he could see better days.
He went out the back door of the shop and after William left, he couldn't help but stare at the collapsed tower. At this time, he saw a tremendous shine on his left side. A gigantic light spell, hundreds of meters across, lit up the eastern gates like a star in the darkness of the night.
Master Mo looked shocked. 'Is this the power of a real wizard?' he could hear the shrill and bone-chilling shouts coming from there. People were begging for their lives, begging for mercy. Then, right in the middle of the light, a huge earthen pillar rose from the ground. It cut the light hundreds of meters in diameter right in the middle. Then, fireballs and various spells could be seen thrown like fireworks from behind the pillar.
Master Mo's blood boiled for a moment. He clenched his fists, frowned, but soon calmed down. He then closed his eyes and went back into the shop. He sat down in the chair that William had previously sat in and began to meditate. 'I am too old for this kind of war, but I can make a bigger contribution in a bigger war.'
After that, everyone in the shop silently waited. They extinguished the fire inside them with a bucket of water for now but waiting for the day when this fire will return even stronger.
…
A few hundred yards away, William was running calmly through the dark streets. Sometimes he would shorten his path by jumping from the top of the houses. Concealing his entire existence, he was moving towards the mage's tower a little to the north. He hadn't noticed it before, but at night it was impossible to miss these towers. These towers, which shone five hundred meters around in the darkness of the night, were the representation of the power of the capital.
Sometimes William could see troops on the roofs rushing to support the east gate. This was a good sign for him because it meant fewer people to be killed. He had seen the light magic emanating from the east door while he was jumping from a roof again. This was stronger than the light magic cast on him. Moreover, even from here, he could feel the dangerous war going on there.
He then saw Arthur's magic. The rebels seemed to be able to respond. He put his worries aside. He turned his head in the opposite direction.
He spoke in his head, looking at the tower in front of him. 'Father, grandpa, I hope you live so you don't have to make me king.' Said.
