Smash and Pass!

“I have a task I want to give you.”

"Ah! What is?" William pretended to be interested. As long as there was some reward from the glint in his eyes, it was clear that he would accept the quest. Even if it hasn't been said yet.

“It's not really a big deal.” Said. He then took out two glasses and a teapot from his dimensional bag. He then raised his finger and recited a small spell. Water began to collect at the tip of his finger, after a while the water grew to the size of a teapot and began to heat up. Then he poured the heated water into the teapot. Meanwhile, he continued to speak. "It may not be in the tower you're going into, but there's something I want you to take from one of the other towers." Said. By this time he had finished mixing the dry leaves, he had put in the teapot. He poured something akin to yellow tea from the teapot into two glasses.

“Take and drink, it opens your mind.” Said. William took the handed tea and took a sip from it. He realized instantly that his mind had become as clear as a steady sea. It was an excellent feeling.

“What is it that I should take?” William asked after putting down the glass.

“One device. It's small, hexagonal, with six crystals embedded in it." Said. He had already drank half the glass.

“So what does this crystal do, and most importantly, what is my reward?” he asked.

“Actually, it doesn't do you any good. A tool for wizards. This crystal is called a key. It is used as the key to the shield, but this key issue is not important. Anything can replace it, so I have no intention of rendering the shield unusable once your father takes over this place. I'll even make a new key and give it to him. As for its other function, it's a seal containing information about shield spells. With this knowledge, maybe I can become a third-level wizard. But I don't think the mage guarding him knew anything about it." Said.

William thought the wizard was speaking rationally. It was something that contained information and perhaps was out of use for generations. It was a completely wasted blessing. While William was thinking, the wizard continued to speak.

“As a reward, I will give you this and share with your sister the information I got from that seal. This will help both you and your family.” Said. William was aroused when he heard mention of his sister. He had to be careful firsthand about the smallest matter that might concern a member of his family.

“Aren't you already her teacher? What do you mean I'm going to share it with your sister as a reward?" William asked, frowning.

The wizard was surprised at first. Then something seemed to come to mind and he spoke. "Ah! After all, you're not a mage. It's okay not to know. The equal exchange between mages is the absolute rule. In other words, something is not given without receiving something. This includes magic methods. Think of a stricter version of your contribution system.” Said.

William understood a little now but later said, 'Then why are you taking her as a student?' thought of things like One of the things he didn't know was that only one spell and one specialty were taught after taking students anyway. You had to earn the rest yourself.

“So what is it that you will give me?” he asked.

The mage took out what looked like a necklace from his dimensional bag. It was shaped like a cross and was made entirely of silver.

“This is a protection necklace. It can protect you three times from any spiritual attack below the second level.” Said.

“Spiritual attack?” William asked, showing that he did not understand.

“Yes, unlike us, there is a magic that is passed down from generation to generation in the royal family, and this magic is your archenemy. I mean, warriors. An apprentice mage can even kill your gold rank academy principal, and this necklace is an imitation of their ancestral treasure. We don't know the details, but Traveler Etha was talking about how mages from the other continent could kill him with one finger, and that's probably how they do it." Said.

William understood everything a little more clearly now. Normally, in all the novels he read, wizards were the absolute pinnacle characters. But on this island where he was born, somehow the opposite was the case. Maybe they were a little equal. What he thought next was this. 'I wonder if the way of the wizards is also missing?? Just like warriors?'

The mage continued to talk about the mission. “If you can kill this mage fast enough, you might not even be able to use this tower at all. If you're unlucky you can use all three, and the only rewards are spells and knowledge that I'll share with your sister. I don't know if I could explain it?" said. By this time he had finished the tea in his glass and refilled it. William's was still halfway through.

"Alright then. I agree." ' said William, and held out his hand for him to give him the necklace.

The mage confirmed what he had said as he placed the necklace in his hand.

[Silver Holy Cross Necklace x1 (Replica) (Remaining Usage x3 ) ] Seeing the information about the necklace as a replica, William confirmed that the mage was not lying.

“So how do I use it?” he asked. After all, he might not be able to activate something magical.

“This is a replica and, to be honest, it wasn't made as neatly as the original. When there is a spiritual attack, this necklace automatically activates and protects the wearer. It is very practical, but not like the original.” Said.

His eyes showed the pain he suffered from the poor construction of such a perfect item.

'It doesn't matter as long as it saves my life,' thought William. Then he finished his tea and thanked him and left the mage's tent. He put the necklace around his neck as he left the tent.

Afterward, William walked to the tent where he was actually supposed to go first. To his father's tent. When he arrived at the tent, two guards familiar from his family at the entrance let him in. When he entered the tent, no extras caught his eye. It was simpler and more orderly than the mage's tent. His father was sitting on a small bed waiting for him.

His eyes lit up when William entered. He immediately stood up and hugged him tightly. William responded in the same way. The sincerity he felt for Theo was greater than that of his grandfather. He was now his real parent in this world.

After the two of them parted, Theo grabbed him by the shoulders and gave him a good look. He was still slightly shorter than Theo, but he couldn't help but rejoice to see William returning stronger in his eyes. It even worried him a little that he was getting so fast and too strong.

“Welcome.” Said.

William said, “ Thank you, Dad.” He replied by saying.

“Tell me, what did you do at the academy?” Theo wanted to have a long chat with him.

“The only difference from what I do at home is that I get new techniques. Actually, not much has changed.” Said. William deliberately gave a short answer. He was afraid that if he questioned him further, he would inadvertently give the wrong answer. The system issue was one of the last things he wanted to talk about with his father.

Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel.

In fact, he knew that even if one of his family knew about it, nothing would change. They weren't deeply worried about him revealing their secrets, but William didn't want to say it just in case. After all, what two people knew would no longer be a secret. And the phrase 'tie a donkey to a solid stake' always made him feel good.

Theo didn't push too hard, seeing that William didn't want to explain how he had gotten so strong in such a short time. Instead, he switched to another question in his mind. Pointing at the armor on it. “Where did you find these? They must be very expensive.” Said. He spoke in a low voice. He was a little suspicious that someone was listening to him. His biggest doubt was the wizard Arthur himself.

William replied in the same low voice as he noticed his concern. “I discovered a ruin. I found these there. There's a little more if you want." Said.

Theo's eyes immediately lit up. "How many?" It was clear that he was excited by his trembling hands.

“Don't get too excited, Dad, the others aren't second-level. First level but still a complete set.” Said. He didn't want to shatter his father's dreams, but it was all he could do.

Still, Theo's excitement did not change. First-level or two, these weren't cheap and easy to find. They were considered a monopoly of the academy and the sorcerer's tower. Apprentice-level jobs were the most you could find in normal markets.

“You forgot my question. I asked how many." Theo reminded him.

“Nineteen. It's all a neat set. It was actually twenty, but I gave one to Sora .” William took out one of them and showed it to his father.

Theo fell in love the moment he saw the armor set. He felt that he was more beautiful than he was. With its silver color and gold decorations on it, it was a set worthy of royal bodyguards. He had already thought of the area where it would be used.

Seeing that his father loved the armor very much, William placed the remaining eighteen armors in the dimensional bag of one of the princes and gave it to his father. "Here father, I hope it works in battle." Said.

Theo took the dimensional bag with a big smile on his face. “What a useful word, it can be considered a strategic material that will change the course of the war.” Said. He kept smiling.

“Now go, rest. Don't forget you have an important task in the time before dawn. The tent is fifth in the back.” Said. sent William.

William is disappointed with his words. He even felt used for a moment. But he didn't care because he knew that his father was doing the same because of his extreme sincerity. So he knew he shouldn't look for bad intentions underneath.

His father left the tent, still looking at the armor in his hand. When he walked out the door, he stretched his whole body and yawned. Then he went to his own tent at the back. It would be nice to get some rest before the mission.

When he found his own tent, he came across a very plain and sloppy place. Fortunately, this tent belonged only to him. He knew it was still early to sleep, but he had a task to do time before dawn, and the best way to rest was to sleep.

He hasn't had any sleep problems since he came to this world, but that problem is broken today. His mind was constantly playing with the way his father and grandfather treated him. For some reason, he felt worthless despite doing so much for them. After weighing these thoughts for a long time, he came to a decision.

Regardless, he would go his own way after helping them in this rebellion. The starting point was to leave the island.

After not sleeping for a few hours, he heard a soldier calling out to him at his door. He got up from his bed, thinking 'it's time'. After he got out of the tent, he saw that there was general disorientation throughout the camp. The area in front of his tent was empty, and a parade had begun as if someone important had arrived.

In the dark of the night and the scant torches lit, dark skin tones, elves with long, pointed ears were seen inside the camp. Most soldiers in Thedo's army were familiar enough with these elves, but for other normal nobles' soldiers, it was a first. William looked for anyone familiar, but could hardly find a single familiar dark elf.

He hadn't made many friends among the dark elves, but a few times they had chatted by the fire while hunting monsters.

William wasted no time with these. He followed the path the soldier showed him and came to the central tent. At the entrance of the tent were all the faces he had met in yesterday's meeting. Thedo then said something to Theo, and Theo left. He spoke in a low voice, but William could hear.

“Welcome our old friends and scatter them among the army.” He said.

Then he turned to William and said, "Are you ready?" he asked.

William, “Always.” He replied.

"Then let's go." They set off on foot together in secret. They were already very close to the capital's huge magic shield. At that moment, Mage Arthur silently cast a spell.

Something resembling a thin, extremely transparent shield appeared on top of the group of fifteen. It looked like a water bubble.

“What is this?” William asked, approaching him.

“A simple invisibility spell.” He then called out to the others. “Do not go out of the bubble!” he warned.

He realized that William was staring at this spell with glowing eyes. “What is it, you are so interested?” he asked.

“Yeah, mages are so cool,” William replied, somewhat embarrassed.

“I can test you after the war if you want. If you have the talent, I can teach you." Said. Still, he didn't have much hope. Although William was skilled as a warrior, this did not guarantee him that he would have talent as a mage.

"Really? I would love to," replied William. He was very happy indeed. This was one of his dreams. He even dreamed of a day when meteors rained down from the sky. Of course, it was just a dream, but even a dream was beautiful.

After a while, the team arrived at the eastern gate of the capital. They stopped, and Hurim beside Thedo took a map from his back and smashed it on the ground. He put stones at its four corners and called out to William. “Young master, come.”

William went to the map with the mage. He remembered a little because he had been to the capital before, but this map was very detailed. Even the names of all the shops were written on it. He could see six round dots on the map.

Hurim pointed to a spot on the map to William. “Young master, this tower is your target. You will go straight through this door for five hundred meters. Then you will turn right from the inn, the sign of which is a pint. Two kilometers later this tower will be in front of you. Your target is inside that tower.” Said.

William memorized the map as best he could. Then he memorized the path of the other towers. After all, although that was his first destination, it would not be his final destination.

He then made a sniffing gesture and took note of everyone's scent in here.

The wizard Arthur tapped William on the shoulder beside him and pointed to the door. “When I shout 'Now', no matter what, run straight for a hundred meters without looking left or right. What you need to do next is very simple. Just smash and pass!” said.

William showed he understood and nodded. He prepared himself. He did a couple of stretches and took a running position in the bubble.

The mage Arthur passed to William's right. Behind him, four apprentice-level mages lined up. Mage Arthur folded his hands in front of him, and something began to gather in the middle of both hands. It was hexagonal and grew to the size of a human. William could see a pea-sized amount of sweat pooling on his forehead.

Then the wizard Arthur threw this human-sized hexagram into the great shield of protection. At the same time, he shouted at William. "Now!"

William took action as soon as he heard it. He could see that Arthur's spell had touched the shield a few meters from him. The moment the spell touched the shield, a hole the size of that hexagram indeed appeared. Seeing the target he had to pass, William increased his speed. He could see that the hole was slowly closing again as soon as it had formed. William succeeded when the hole shrunk to William's size. He was inside!

The only problem now was to dig a hole for himself in this huge door. As he tried to draw his sword, he heard another shout behind him. It was Arthur's voice again. “Smash! Pass!” yelled.

William felt that he should trust him and kept running straight ahead. Meanwhile, Arthur shouted again to the apprentices behind him. "Again!"

He started to cast a spell again. This time he put his hands on the ground. Just like Baldur did with that worm, but a little different. “The nail of the earth!” yell. His hands were still on the ground. Two rows of earth nails began to emerge from where his hands were. They were coming out of the ground faster than William. They even created a path for him, surpassing William's speed. William could see the nails sticking out from either side. When he reached the door, the nails grew bigger and destroyed the huge doors in one blow!

William finally understood why Arthur said that. It had almost completely cleared the way for him. If he couldn't succeed in the mission after that, it would be better if he died inside.

At this time, the invisibility shield was broken, and the guards on the wall were already shouting, hearing the sound of the huge doors bursting.

"Attack! The enemy destroyed the eastern gate. There's someone breaking in!” Seeing the door burst and someone running in, the guard shouted and rushed to the steeple just above the door. As soon as he reached the bell tower, bells the size of a child began to ring.

All the sounds of bells began to spread to every corner of the capital. Meanwhile, in one of the towers, a blond-haired man who appeared to be in his twenties opened his eyes as he was meditating. His eyes seemed to be able to see through the wooden door in front of him. "So you finally couldn't stand it." He muttered.

He turned his head and looked at the pile of soul stones. Low-level soul stones were piled up in the room like a mountain. He then saw that almost a chest full of soul stones had suddenly disappeared into the ashes.

“So it's just one person.” He muttered. "Come here."
