Chapter 9 - Encounter with a Hero
Today is my 10th Birthday and the day I finally reached level 65.
It was as Blaze said, leveling became so hard.
My progress was especially slow after I got to level 60, i took me the last 2 years to get from 60 to 65.
My efforts did paid off, since I gained a new title called [Elemental Master], which boost my spells' damage.
Anyways I am officially stronger than Blaze now, though only in Intelligence and Wisdom.
His other stats are surprisingly high in Phoenix form.
We are currently walking back from the deeper part of the woods, oh and I finally learned its name, the Elisven Forest.
We are in the more isolated part of the forest, though i said isolated there are still many monsters.
In these past years the amount of mana corruption has gone up, making it extremely difficult to cast spells so I have been relying on my sword and bow skills a lot.
The corruption has even started affecting the Ward Crystals.
“Blaze you haven’t been looking so well, are you sure the corrupted mana isn’t affecting you too?”
“I keep telling you, I’m fine.” [Blaze]
“If you say so… well so I’ll be taking care of dinner tonight.”
“The food you make are pretty tasty, where did you even get those ideas from?” [Blaze]
“Well, I am a Prodigy after all, why would I not be able to cook. Hehe.”
“Haha. That’s true. If only Alan was able to see you grow up so much…” [Blaze]
“Yeah… I miss him… and mom.”
“Eh? I’m sorry if I made you remember something bad Haliel…” [Blaze]
“It’s okay. Oh, we’re back I go start making dinner.”
“You know, sometimes you act too mature for your age. I noticed this since you were younger too.” [Blaze]
Just as I finished cooking, I could feel the mana disappearing from one of the Ward Crystal.
What the!? Are the monsters attacking the Ward Crystal?
They’ve never done this before and the monsters in this area shouldn’t even be strong enough to do any damage.
“Hey Blaze, mana is fading from one of the Ward Crystal. I think I’ll go check up on it.”
“Are you sure you don’t want me to go with you?” [Blaze]
“It's fine. I think I can handle them myself and it's a good chance to try out another one of my new spells.”
“Well if you say so, just be careful. There were a lot of [Darkened] monsters lately, and those are unpredictable.” [Blaze]
“Yeah I know.”
Saying so I went outside with my equipments and an apple.
I started walking North towards the crystal that’s losing mana.

It’s been 7 years now since I got summoned into this world.
About two years ago I started training with the Elven Prince Gelion.
He’s a good kid, a fast learner too.
Anyways I’m here in the Elisven Forest right now because of a massive Darkening that occurred.
The Darkening has been spreading in this area for the past few years, according to the information I got.
Me and my soldiers are marching south towards its location and so far we have already met quite a lot of [Darkened] monsters and animals, though they can’t be considered animals anymore.
As we were walking, I spotted gigantic Armored Bears eating what seemed like a glowing purple crystal.
“Identify!” [Yoichi]

‘Could it be another side effect of the Darkening?’ [Yoichi]
“Everyone be careful! These are all lv 69 Grand Armored Bears with 4,532 offense and 2,185 defense. The new recruits back off and let the experienced ones handle this! Lilith and Fernand grab your staffs, swords and spears won’t hurt it!” [Yoichi]

Before the new recruits could fall back a bear noticed us and charged towards them.
One of our tanks went to try to stop the charge but was completely ripped in half.
“Tch. These armorers are too weak to tank that 4,532 offense stat! Just run and let the mages attack while falling back. Drop your shields, they will only slow you down! We can come pick them up later! Now, mages fire your spells and retreat. Godspeed!” [Yoichi]

With the activation of my spell, everyone was covered in light and their speed went up.
All the tanks drop their shields and run away while the mages attack with ranged spells.
Just when I thought we could escape, the Grand Armored Bears did something unexpected, they entered their shadows and chased after us.
‘What the! They have the Shadow Wolf’s skill [Shadow Stride as well!??’
‘Is this what happens when they are exposed too long to corrupted mana!?’
‘Shit I don’t think this is going to end so well’ [Yoichi]
While these thoughts were going through my head, 5 of the bears appeared ahead of us while the remaining 5 charge at us from behind.
Many of the new recruits that were in front were slaughtered.
“Fuck! This is not good mages, create a light barrier and knights enchant your weapons with light attribute. Prepare yourself, this is going to be way harder than any fights you had before.” [Yoichi]
‘Shit. If I was alone I could’ve probably handle this but with this supposed to be a training session for the new recruits, we have too many underleveled people here.’
‘Goddamnit we haven’t even accomplish our goals here yet.’ [Yoichi]
Just as I thought that, another unexpected thing happened.
“Shadow Prison! Frozen Heart! Healing Aura!”
‘What the! Someone with quick cast AND multicast!? I don’t think there's anyone like this in the group!’ [Yoichi]
Instantly the bears all got imprisoned by their own shadows and a magic circle appeared underneath all our feet.
As for the bears, I blue magic circle appeared on the chest of each and then they stopped moving soon after.
“What was that!??” [New Recruit]
“W… we’re saved.” [New Recruit]
‘“Lilith, who did that?” [Yoichi]
“I have no idea, I don’t think anyone here can do that except you.” [Lilith]
“Actually I don’t think even I could’ve done that, not with the amount of mana I have at the moment.” [Yoichi]
As we were talking a shadow jumped down from a nearby tree.
“Are you guys alright?” [???]
Everyone turned towards the voice and saw a little girl.
She had pure white hair, crimson red eyes, and white porcelain skin.
‘No I am not a Lolicon!’ [Yoichi]
“H...hey isn’t t… that a demon!?” [New Recruit]
“D… demon you say? W... why would one of them be here? Isn’t their country like way up North?” [New Recruit]
“What do you mean ‘Demon’ ?” [Yoichi]
“Oh yeah, you haven’t been here that long, and the time you were here, you were mainly occupied with the Shades and Darkening so you don’t know about demons. They are the only race with white hair AND red eyes,, the other races only has one or the other, not both.” [Lilith]
“Are you sure, I mean the Prince is also like her, red eyes and white hair.” [Yoichi]
“W… wait he is?!” [Lilith]
“Oh right I’m the only one who’s actually met Prince Gelion. Well let's find out if she really is a Demon. Identify!” [Yoichi]

“Yes, I’m well aware of that which is why I’m telling you to lower your weapons. She saved us you know, and if she could do that to those 10 Grand Armored Bears, can’t she simply kill us if she wanted?” [Yoichi]

“Ahem. Uh.. Haliel I’ sorry about my soldiers, please forgive them.” [Yoichi]
“Huh!? How do you know my name!? Who are you?”
“Ah. Oh that, I’m sorry I used Identify on you… “ [Yoichi]

“Ahaha… sorry. So why is a little kid like you doing here alone in the forest. It’s dangerous here.” [Yoichi]

Suddenly a pillar of fire erupted from a distant away.

“That direction is… BLAZE!!”
I need to hurry, I can feel the area inside the barrier being corrupted by the tainted mana.
This is not good, I’m picking something up on [Radar] other than Blaze.
“Hey Haliel, where are you going!? It’s not safe there.” [Yoichi]
“Tch. Those that can still fight, follow me!” [Yoichi]
Following me was Yoichi and his men as we ran towards my house.
As we neared it, I saw the tree that our house was built under on fire.
Out of the smoke came two figure, one of them was Blaze in Phoenix form while the other was a Wyvern.
“Why is a Wyvern here!? They aren’t usually in this part of the forest. They should be closer to the Northern Ranges.” [Lilith]
“Wait could it be a Shade’s mount!? It most likely is so everyone be on alert!” [Yoichi]
“Blaze!! Who is that?”
“I don’t know it just suddenly attacked me after the Crystal broke.” [Blaze]
As Blaze was talking to me, the wyvern used this chance and attacked Blaze with his own [Flamethrower].
There was something wrong with the fire, it was black unlike normal fire.
As it engulfed Blaze I heard him screech in pain.
What!? Fire attribute spells shouldn’t so that much damage to Blaze he is level 100.
As Blaze fell from the sky, I ran towards him.
“Blaze! Are you alright? Let me heal you, Healing Hands!”
Blaze was instantly covered in a green light and I could feel him regaining back his strength.
When the wyvern saw all of us, it flew away.
“Haliel get away from that thing!” [Yoichi]
“What do you mean!? I can’t leave Blaze, he’s hurt!”
“He’s been affected by the corrupted mana! He might change into a savage monster like the bears.” [Yoichi]
“Don’t speak so familiar with me! I just met you today you can’t tell me what to do!”
“You… tch. Fine then let me Identify it to make sure it isn’t dangerous.” [Yoichi]
Ignoring him I just kept healing Blaze.

‘“... Alright then. Can you move aside and let me [Purify] him so that he’ll get better?” [Yoichi]
“Sure...”
I got out of the way as Yoichi went to purify the corrupted mana out of Blaze.
I really am disappointed at myself for not noticing how weak the corrupted mana has made him.
“Umm… Haliel, would you like to come with us, so we can properly heal Blaze back to health?” [Yoichi]
“...If it will help Blaze then I’ll go.”
