Chapter 13 - Clash in the Emperor’s Room
From the moment I saw her, I knew right away that she was mom, but she doesn’t seem to know who I am.
It was only after Blaze said my name that she remembered.
Anyways after that was a discussion about dad and how mom became the queen of Glaswen.
“I see. So that’s the situation, I understand now. So does that mean Haliel is the older sister of Merilien and Gelion?” [Yoichi]
“Yes, that would be right but the other Elves would not allow that so, everyone please don’t talk about this with anyone else besides those in the room right now.” [Eril]
“Haa… seems I got caught in the middle of another sticky situation. Alright I won’t let anyone else find out about this, but are you going to tell this to Merilien and Gelion? And what about Rinor?” [Yoichi]
“... I probably would have to tell them, I just hope he’s a bit more understanding since he is more tolerant than the other Elves towards humans.” [Eril]
“Well with my question answered, I suppose I should go and begin their training or should I let them recover from what happened earlier with the Giant Flora Snake?” [Yoichi]
“It’s fine to continue their training just go easy on them today. But before that let’s settle the issue about Rinor first. Sorry to drag you into this but could you also come along just in case Rinor snaps and attack Haliel?” [Eril]
“I don’t think that’ll be a problem but I suppose I can.” [Yoichi]
“Thanks, now let’s go.” [Eril]
With that we went towards Emperor Rinor’s room.
Along the way, Gelion and Merilien joined us.
*Knock Knock*
“Come in.” [Rinor]
As we entered, Rinor was having a talk with two guards, probably about what happened to Gelion and Merilien.
“We need to have a talk.” [Eril]
“What’s with this all of a sudden? Oh, and Hero Yoichi too? Who’s that girl there?” [Rinor]
“Can the guards please leave the room?” [Eril]
{{“As you command.”}} [Both]
With that they both exited the room leaving behind a confused Rinor.
“Do you remember when I asked you to help me look for Alan and Haliel?” [Eril]
“... yeah I do. What about it?” [Rinor]
“You don’t have to anymore. Alan’s dead and… I found Haliel.” [Eril]
“!? How do you know that Alan’s dead, and how did you find Haliel when you’ve been here all this time?” [Rinor]
Rinor was even more confused now, and so were Gelion and Merilien.
After a bit, mom began to explain what we had just talked about earlier.
“... so this little girl here is Haliel? Wait she’s a Half-Elf right? Then that means… Alan was human?! I…” [Rinor]
“I know you’re not happy to find out that I married a Human but also know that I was torn away from my family to fulfill my dead sister’s role.” [Eril]
“? What are you talking about mom?” [Gelion]
“Listen Gelion and Merilien, from now on, Haliel is going to be your sister.” [Eril]
“But mom, she’s a Half-Elf, how would she be our sister?” [Merilien]
“Wh... what!? Are you serious!? Th... this half blood!?” [Rinor]
“Rinor! She’s also one of my children!” [Eril]
“Mom, it’s fine. It’s ok if he doesn’t want to, I understand that he doesn’t like me. As long as you’re safe, I’m happy with just that.”
Damned Elves are all the same aren’t they. Huff and I’m quited upset that mom forgot about me…. Hopefully she has a good reason why.
“Haliel…” [Eril]
“Exactly as she said, I will not adopt her into the Royal Family. Even with the Alliance with the Humans doesn’t mean I’ll allow this to happen.” [Rinor]
“I don’t want to anyways. Why would I want to be with the ones who took my mom away from me in the first place?”
“Child, you do not know who you’re talking to. Guards come and take care of this half blood!” [Rinor]
“Rinor you…!” [Eril]
Before mom could finish her sentence, the guards already came in and lunged themselves at me.
Yoichi tried to come and protect me but was blocked by Rinor.
“Even if you are a Hero, that doesn’t mean you can step into a family issue Yoichi.” [Rinor]
“Tch. Never thought you were this kind of person, Rinor.” [Yoichi]
The weapons of the guards crashed into the spot I was standing but I had already moved from there.
{{{{{“!!!”}}}}} {Everyone]
“Wh... what the heck was that!” [Rinor]
“You think too little of me, Emperor. Though I never did expect you to have your guards attack a child like myself.”
“!!” [Rinor]
“How dare you speak to the Emperor with such disrespect little girl! We’ll teach you a lesson. Crashing Lunge!” [Guard 1]
As the first guard came at me I drew my sword and deflected it, then knocked the spear out of his hand.
“Damned arrogant brat! Water Bullets!” [Guard 2]
The next guard began his assault on me with a strong killing intent.
Haha, wow they seriously were trying to kill me.
Well that won’t happen though, he’s using such simple moves.
“Such a weak spell? Well then, Water Veil!”
At that instant, a veil of water surrounded me and absorbed in the water bullets.
“Okay, my turn. Phantom Grasp: Suffocation!”
They were then attacked by a concentrated amount of mana shaped into hands, holding them up into the air.
{{“Tch. Arghhh! Uh… ahh…!”}} [Both]
Everyone in the room then just looked at me with a shocked expression, except Yoichi and Blaze.
“W… what?” [Rinor]
“See? Told ya, you think too little of me.”
“... well I saw that coming.” [Blaze]
“I was worried for nothing… Well then Rinor, I think you should stop there.” [Yoichi]
“Wait why are you two so calm!? She just defeated two elite guards that are lv 60!” [Eril]
“That explains it a bit, they were only lv 60. Oh, by the way they are still alive, so should I let them go? It wouldn’t feel right if I killed them, I mean the only things I’ve killed so far were monsters.”
“Please do, we need as much men possible if we want to defeat the Shades. And having another person with quickcast is a plus.” [Yoichi]
“Oh, you’re right. I suppose. Release.”
The mana dispersed and both guards dropped to the floor, unconscious.
Both mom, Rinor, Gelion, and Merilien were giving me looks of disbelief.
“Blaze explain to me what just happened here?” [Eril]
“For now, let’s just say that was the result of her training.” [Blaze]

The conversation with Rinor did not turn out well.
I never expected him to actually attack Haliel, but what surprised me even more was that Haliel was able to take out the 2 lv 60 guards that attacked her.
“You know, I think you could’ve handled that situation a little better you know. Seriously, it is true you took mom from me, I at least have to right to stay here. And besides, I think you’ll be needing my strength in the future so isn’t it a good thing? But instead you just attacked me… that’s just stupid.”

I just noticed that Haliel is now speaking in a different tone, one that doesn’t make her seem like a child.
She’s talking to Rinor as if she was an adult or someone above him even.
“What are you saying little girl?! You may have beaten the guards but I’m way stronger than they are.” [Rinor]
“I would advise against that decision if I were you, trust me.” [Yoichi]
“Of course you wouldn’t, I know you won’t hurt anyone but the Shades.” [Rinor]
“That’s not what I meant, I mean she would completely defeat you in terms of magical strength. Even I can’t match her.” [Yoichi]
“What do you mean by that?” [Rinor]
“Well, why don’t you ask her to show you her Status Window?” [Yoichi]
“... Show me your stats girl.” [Rinor]
“I have a name you know. Hmph! Sure sure, not like I’m trying to hide it anyways. Here, Status Window.”

I was in complete shock the moment I saw Haliel’s stats.
‘What is this?! Her intelligence is already stronger than mine, and she’s already at level 65 at age 10!’
‘W… what did she do to even get them this high?’ [Eril]
“Oh, it seems that your stats got stronger already? Wow, you truly are scary…” [Yoichi]
“!” [Rinor]
Rinor now has his jaw gaping with a pale expression.
Of course he would, even I have chills down my spine from just seeing this.
Both Gelion and Merilien had their eyes focus on Haliel’s status window too now.
“Umm… Blaze, this is real right?” [Eril]
“Yes it is. I was shocked when I first saw it too, especially the speed in which she caught up with me.” [Blaze]
“How is that even possible.” [Eril]
“Well, it began after Alan’s death. Since then she’s been training non stop to be strong enough to protect herself and those she loved, she said. And even at a young age, since she was three, her intelligence and wisdom were already extremely high, surpassing even some adults.” [Blaze]
“Of course I have to be stronger than you if I want to protect you, and I won’t ever need to be protected again.”
‘It must have been extremely hard on her… not having her parents with her.’
‘I… I have to do a better job as her mother from now on. I can’t let her suffer anymore.’ [Eril]
“Haliel… honey I’m sorry I wasn’t there when you needed me…” [Eril]
“Hehe. It’s okay mom, it wasn’t your fault that you couldn’t be with me…”
Hopefully….
“So now then Rinor, still up for that challenge?” [Yoichi]
“I… I have reconsidered. I suppose I can allow you to stay, but you best not speak like that to me in public child.” [Rinor]
“Hehe. Ooops I just kinda got caught up in the moment.”
“Haha. Haliel there you go again, acting unlike a child your age.” [Blaze]
“I suppose this is finally settled? Then it’s time for training Gelion and Merilien.” [Yoichi]
With that Yoichi left with Gelion and Merilien, leaving just me, Haliel, Rinor, and the unconscious guards behind.
The room was in a mess after the fight with the guards.
“Tch. Now my room’s a mess.” [Rinor]
“You were the one who started this, all I came here for was just for you to accept my daughter so you have no one else to blame for this but yourself.” [Eril]
“This is nothing, I’ll clean it up since I did kinda go overboard. Restoration!”
With that, a large magic circle appeared in the room and everything broken began to come back together.
By the time the magic circle disappeared, the room was good as new.
“Haliel y… you are really amazing you know that?” [Eril]
“Yep, Blaze used to tell me that a lot. He still does sometimes. Oh, umm is there somewhere I can sleep? It’s been a long day of traveling and I’m tired.”
“Oh you’re right, I’m sorry I completely forgot you just got here. Come with me, I’ll take you to my room.” [Eril]
“Okay.”
After that we left Rinor in his room and I took Haliel to my room.
When we got there, she fell asleep as soon as she got on the bed.
“Sleep well, Haliel. We’re finally back together after 10 years…” [Eril]

After they left Rinor thought about his actions and regretted them.
“Ahh Dammit! I was too rash, I can’t believe I got swept away by my anger when I found out Eril was married to a Human before.... I even attacked her child.” [Rinor]
“I don’t know how Haliel became so strong but she must have been through a lot without her mother or father… Tch. Even if she is a half blood, she’s also like Gelion and Merilien to Eril. Ah I just noticed something she’s also a [Variant]! Such an occurrence that rarely happens, I hope it’s a good sign.... I think I’ll go apologise to them tomorrow.” [Rinor]

*More details on why her mother couldn’t act will be revealed in a later chapter not sure which one but maybe around the early 20s*
