Chapter 4 - Quality Time with Daddy Part 2
Today is the day my dad will teach me how to use magic.
I am so excited for today!
I’ve waited 3 years for this!
Exactly as the sun rose, I ran into my dad’s room to wake him up.
“Dad… dad… wake up. Today’s the day you’re going to teach me magic.”
“Huh!? Umm… oh yeah. You’re right. Just give me a sec to get ready.”
I left the room as dad got up to stretch and yawn. He changed into new clothing before he came out.
By the time he did, I was already outside waiting for him.
“Okay so first thing first, we will briefly go over how magic works before we actually start practicing it.” [Alan]
“Well then, ‘How magic works.’ How it work is that magic requires mana as a sort of fuel to power a spell, while the incantation or inscription of it works as a medium. You got that?” [Alan]
“Uh-hu.”
“Good, then moving on. To actually be able to control your spells and other magic requires the skills Magic Perception, which you already have, and Magic Manipulation. The reason for this is that you need to be able to draw mana into your spell for it to work and also to control the mana in the spell so that it doesn’t blow up in your face.” [Alan]
“What Magic Perception does is already explained in the Skill Window, so there’s no need to go over that. Well, I’m not exactly a great teacher so I can’t really go in depth with all these information but here is how you use magic. Using magic relies largely on your imagination, and visualizing things happening and how they happen or occur. Once you have it visualized, just draw in some mana and say the incantation to activate it. Some spells may require more mana to activate than others, but this depends on the strength of it and its effect. Do you still follow?” [Alan]
“Yeah, I think I understand.”
Hmm is it really that easy?!
Well either ways I still need the skill Magic Manipulation to use magic though.
“Well, since you already have Magic Perception, all we need to do now is to get you the skill Magic Manipulation so… let’s start with teaching you to draw out the mana inside your body into a ball of light. First thing you have to do is close your eyes and concentrate on the flow of mana in your body. Now imagine that that flow of mana is like a river and you are taking a cup of the water out of the river. After that visualize it coming out of your palm and shape it into a sphere.” [Alan]
“Like this daddy.”
Saying so I showed him the glowing blue orb in my palm.
This really shocked him as you could see his jaw wide open in astonishment.
“Y… yeah like that. Wow you’re amazing Haliel, you did it on your first try! It usually takes people weeks to do this and even a genius takes a few days at least to be able to do what you did… maybe not even to that extent. You must be a prodigy Haliel, those that only appear every thousand year.”
Cool! And this is so easy!
While thinking this I played with the orb, changing it to many different shapes then….

‘Oh my god! What is with these stats! Only a hero can have this kind of stats at such a level!’ [Alan]
“Daddy why did I suddenly gain stats to my intelligence and wisdom? I thought the stats only go up when we level up?”
“Well… Uhh… that is how we usually gain them but you can also gain more stats by doing actions that improves the corresponding status.” [Alan]
Oh yeah that’s right! Wow how stupid I have become after not reading my light novels for years…
Shit that means I have to put to use my other knowledge before I completely forget them all.
“Since I have both Magic Perception and Manipulation, can we move on to actual spells!?”
“Okay okay sweetie. But I can only teach you low tier spells of each element since my only affinities are Dark, Fire, and Wind. Fire being my only 100% means that's the only one that I can teach you to tier 8 in. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention earlier… there are 10 tiers in magic and each tier becomes stronger than the one before it. The weakest being tier 1 magic and strongest being tier 10, though no one has ever created a spell that strong, the strongest so far is tier 8 magic. Also the power gap between a tier 8 and 9 is extremely big. The only tier 10 magic are ancient magic that has yet to be decoded.” [Alan]
“Okay, now going to the issue before hand I’ll teach you the basic spells for each element. We will start with Will-o-Wisp for Fire, a fire that gives off no heat. For Water it is Bubble. Gust for Wind and Pit for Earth. After you got those we will begin Light and Dark, as they are more complex. The beginning spells for these are also the few spells that grows stronger and can evolve. For Light it would be Glow and for Dark, Shadow Manipulation.” [Alan]

It has been a week now since my dad taught me magic, and it really IS easier than I thought.
In 3 days time, I have already learned all the beginning spells of each element.
This also greatly surprised my father.
In this world even if you don’t have affinity with an element, you can still learn the beginning spells of each up to tier 2 then after that you would need an affinity of at least 40% to be able to reach tier 5 magic.
For tier 6 magic you need 60% affinity, 80% for tier 7 magic and 100% for tier 8 and above.
Anyways my dad already began teaching me tier 2 and 3 magic after I showed him my mastery with the spells I know.
He said this was amazing because most people don’t know what their affinities will be until they are at least 5 or 6 and if I really practice I can get good affinities with all the elements.
The reason for this is that it’s just given at random, in accordance with what your parents have and sometimes it’s even worst than what the parents have.
There is a loophole however, and that’s to practice and get used to an element before your affinities are given to you. You can do this to all the elements too if you wanted.
And that’s exactly what I’m aiming for!
The spells that I’ve just learned from dad are tier 2 defensive magic like Earth Wall or Light Cloak, and tier 2 offensive magic like Fireball or Air Cutter.
Tier 2 magic is like this: Water,Light, and Earth are defensive while Fire,Dark, and Wind are offensive.
For tier 3 magic both have offensive and defensive spells.
Since I’m more used to manipulating mana, I’m learning even faster now.
It only takes me a few hours at most to learn a spell so it only took me 2 days now to learn the 18 spells taught to me.
Though my dad taught me those spells he couldn’t actually use the tier 3 Light, Water, and Earth spells,
The reason is his affinity.
He has 0 affinity to them but he does have high affinity to the offensive elements, with 70% to both Dark and Wind while his Fire affinity is 100%.
According to him this is extremely rare for humans, because the average human only have 2 affinity at most and only 1 of them will be 100, the other will be 60 or less.

A year passed by.
By now my dad is teaching me tier 8 magic, though mainly in Fire.
The other elements were mere explanation without an example.
Each time he teaches me, he always seems to have a frightened expression.
Because I have pretty much caught up with him magic training, though still not all the spells he knows, because he says they are too dangerous, he began teaching me swordsmanship.
Yes! Score! Though this is going to be wayyyyy harder.

As of now dad is merely teaching me the proper stances and such while I practice swinging my swords.
A lot harder than it sounds, trust me.
Though the sword lessons are always 2 days apart from each other to let me rest. And so that it won’t stun my growth.
There are a few days when we get attacked so my dad doesn’t have time to teach me anything, on those days I just practice what I already learned.
This also includes Mathematics, Science, Physics, and Chemistry.
Well, the things that I still remember, which isn’t much for Science, Physics, and Chemistry.
Okay so maybe I don’t remember much from Math either but at least I remember more things about it.
Wow never taught that I would forget so much after just 4 years…. wait it already has been 4 years!!
Well, I’m pretty sure what I know is more than any of those my age in this world.
Hmm I think I’ll go look for something to eat now.
Dad and Blaze are busy with those bounty hunters so I’ll go in the opposite direction to find some delicious fruits to eat.
Good thing dad taught me which plants are harmful and which aren’t.

Meanwhile Alan and Blaze are fighting the bounty hunters.
“Abyssal Prison!” [Alan]
Instantly trapping 6 of the hunters in their own shadow.
While they were trapped, Blaze took care of them with his flamethrower.
“Hurricane Blade!!”
Slashing his blade with a large amount of force and creating additional invisible blades of wind, the wielder can send this to a desired location, creating a area of effect that slices the opponents apart.
“Well that was easier than it usually is, but oh well that just means i can spend more time with Haliel in peace…!” [Alan]
“Wait a Ward Crystal just disappeared and it’s from the opposite direction of here! So they were trying a pincer attack. Blaze quickly go and find Haliel she could be in trouble!” [Alan]
“Alright I’ll be going then!” [Blaze]
‘Tch! Damnit! I should’ve known that this time was too easy! I didn’t think they would’ve planned something like this.’ [Alan]
‘I won’t let what happened to Eril happen to Haliel too! Like hell I’ll let that happen!’ [Alan]
With that Alan also sped towards the house.

Blaze arrived within the warded area but Haliel was nowhere in sight!
Without wasting a single moment Blaze used the skill [Radar] and found Haliel headed towards the exact location the hunters were going to come from!
‘I need to inform Master of this.’ [Blaze]
Good thing they were bonded, with this they could talk with each other as long as they are within 80 meters from each other.
“Master Haliel is headed towards the direction the hunters are coming from! I don’t think she left that long ago, we could still catch up to her.” [Blaze]
“Okay, I’ll meet you there, go on ahead to protect her in case they reach her before we do” [Alan]
Blaze bursted full speed towards Haliel and finally found Haliel, but it was as Alan had feared, the hunters were already too close to her to go in unnoticed.
Blaze covered himself in flames as he charged to kill the hunters that were sneaking up on her.

I was about to pick some berry off the bush when I detected two unknown person with [Radar].
If they had been dad or Blaze I would’ve known since I have been with them for so long I know their presence.
These are definitely not them because I can also sense Blaze nearby and he just prepared for his [Flame Charge].
That instant I also heard the sound of something being thrown at me, but I simply sidestepped their attempt to kill me.
Since they know that I know they’re here better set up some protection.
“Essence of the earth, I call upon you to shield me from harm, Earth Armor!”
Instantly the soil covers my body with a light set of armor.
The moment I finished, I could hear them active a tier 7 Fire spell, Flame Lance.
Well [Earth Armor] is just going to get penetrated by that when I made it this thin…
Fuck! I need water!
“Water Veil!”
Screw the incantations! I’m in a life and death situation here!
And yes I also have quickcast.
[Water Veil] came up just in time as [Flame Lance] was within a feet in front of me.
Phew, close one.
“What the hell! A child that age knows tier 6 magic AND quickcast!?” [Bounty hunter 1]
As they were too busy dealing with me they didn’t notice Blaze and he used this chance to instantly kill them.
“Haliel, are you alright!?” [BLaze]
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
“Come, let’s hurry back more are on the wa…!” [Blaze]
Before Blaze could finished his sentence he set up a barrier to protect us from a extremely powerful shockwave.
It was so strong that it even broke through 2 layers of the barrier.
Phew, good thing Blaze’s barrier has 5 layers. But damn that was scary.
“Hmph. So this was where damn Alan is huh. And he also stole a slave eh?” [Mysterious man]
He knows my dad!? Then why did he try to kill me just now?!
“Who are you!?” [Blaze]
“Hmm? Oh me? Just an acquaints of Alan.” [Mysterious man]
“Tch. I don’t believe that! Haliel go I’ll hold them off. Your dad is also coming this way, go to him.” [Blaze]
Just as Blaze said that dad showed up.
Well, guess I don’t have to since dad is already here.
“What are you doing here Alfrid!” [Alan]
“Oh?! You don’t remember what you did that day!? Well I’m here to pay you back for that!” [Alfrid]
“I had my reasons! Any ways are you here for the bounty? Well, if you are than you are sadly mistaken. She is my daughter and not some duke’s slave!” [Alan]
“That doesn’t matter to me, as long as I can kill you is good enough for me.” [Alfrid]
“Tch! Can’t be helped then! Shadow Steps!” [Alan]
Saying so my dad suddenly disappeared from where he stood and appeared behind Alfrid.
My dad slashed both his swords down but were only met with Alfrid’s Great Blade.
This time Alfrid was the one to disappeared then followed by dad.
After this all you could see were shadows leaping all over the place, leaving behind broken branches and shattered ground as they clashed with each other.
They were both on par with one another.
“Tch. You and your ‘running away’! How about I slow you down a bit! Winds of Wrath bring my enemy to their knees, Crushing Pressure!” [Alfrid]
Instantly the air pressure fell on top of us making it both hard to breath and stand.
“Tch. Limit Breaker!” [Alan]
My dad now has mana flowing through every part of his body, greatly increasing his strength and speed.
He then leaped towards Alfrid, leaving behind a deep crater.
“Ha! Idiot! Get him boys! I’ll be going after what’s most precious to you and that seems to be your so called ‘daughter.’” [Alfrid]
After he said that, thousands of arrows were fired at dad with great speed from the shadows.
Alfrid also appeared right in front of me but Blaze was just in time to get me away from his snatch.
“Storm of Inferno Blades!”
A gust of wind surrounded my dad, protecting him from the arrows.
After that the temperature around him shot up as the gust of wind bursted into flames covering a 6 meter radius surrounding him and expanded further.
Out of that growing ball of fire hundred upon thousands of flaming blades shot back in all the directions of the arrows.
While that happened Blaze got knocked out by Alfrid’s [Crushing Blow].
Blaze didn’t die, which is good, but he got knocked out and now I’m in danger!
I definitely can’t beat him if you could tie with dad and knock Blaze out cold.
“Finally got that damn bird out of the way. Good thing [Crushing Blow] also has a high chance of a knock out. Now girl, this won’t hurt a bit!” [Alfrid]
Saying so he raised up his sword filled with killing intent and fighting spirit.
The amount of pressure from those were enough to paralyze me on the spot.
As I stood there frozen in fear, I noticed a large quantity of mana in the surrounding being drained into his sword and body.
This was obviously not a good sign but I couldn’t move at all, my limbs won’t listen to me telling them to move.
“This is it little girl. Shadows of Sins drag this offering to the abyss, Oblivion Slash!” [Alfrid]
From within the sphere of flame, my dad leaped out and made it just in time before the blade reached me.
Though he got there in time he couldn’t deflect a fully charged [Oblivion Slash] and Alfrid’s blade cut clean through his left shoulder, blood sprayed out as dad’s left arm fell off.
At this point I was drenched in dad’s blood and had he been a few more inches left, he would’ve been split in half.
“Tch. You already killed them all!? Ha! I never should’ve underestimated you. Oh well what can you do now that you only have your right hand? Though I truly am impressed that you even stopped the shockwave following [Oblivion Slash].” [Alfrid]
‘Damn I’m loosing too much blood! At this point I won’t last much longer. I have to at least get rid of Alfrid!’ [Alan]
“You bastard, I never wanted to kill you BUT you leave me no other option! Haliel take Blaze with you and hide behind that large boulder there, cover your ears too. Chaos Fire! Sonic Boom! Dance of Death!!” [Alan]
I did exactly as dad told me to and took Blaze to hide behind the boulder while covering my ears, but I could still hear the sounds a bit.
After both Blaze and I were safely behind the boulder, dad charged at Alfrid with a sword and body covered in darkness and fire, and each swing of the sword created a sonic boom.
This was followed by a loud sound and a gush of piercing wind.
All the while dancing swiftly around Alfrid and striking him faster than he could react in all his vital areas.
Each strike slices through Alfrid effortlessly, leaving him with serious burns.
By the end of [Dance of Death] Alfrid was but a pool of blood and flesh.
‘Ahh fuck… everything’s blurry… at least… Haliel is safe… kuku. Take good care... of her… Blaze…’ [Alan]

After the battle, every tree within 35 meters of the area was burnt to ashes while the area itself was scorched and left with shattered earth.
The only 2 “unharmed” were Haliel and Blaze.
