Chapter 6 - First Level Up

Chapter 6 - First Level Up

After the battle between Alan and Alfrid was over.

Huh? Is it morning already? Oh yeah what happened to dad!!?

Waking up I saw Blaze still unconscious and when I looked out from behind the boulder I saw dad lying on the ground with nothing else in sight.

Well, except for a puddle of blood and flesh… which I presume to be Alfrid?

After getting up I walked over to dad.

When I got to him he wasn’t breathing and looked extremely pale, covered in his own puddle of blood!

Seeing this my heart skipped a beat, as I bent down to listen to his heart beat… there was none.

T… this can’t be, you were so strong! How could you have died!? Was it because of me, because I was in the way!?

As I was crying over my dad’s dead body, Blaze finally got up.

“..... Haliel… it’s not safe here, we should go find a safe place to hide.” [Blaze]

“B… but what about dad?”

“Of course we will bring him with us.” [Blaze]

“But I can’t lift him by myself… ”

“Ahh. You’re right… hmm… ” [Blaze]

Oh! If I use magic I can probably carry him, probably something like levitating him.

“I just thought of something, I can just levitate him.”

“Can you do that? Did he already teach you non-attribute magic too?” [Blaze]

“Uhh. No he hasn’t but I think I can handle it...”

“Okay then. Try and if you can’t I’ll think of something else.” [Blaze]

“Okay. Levitate!”

Just as I said that my dad’s body started to glow and float up.

After he was lifted I guided his body to Blaze’s back, then climbed on too.

Once we were both on his back, he flew off the ground.

“Wow Haliel you really are a genius like your father said. Oh and before we go, let’s pick up the three remaining Ward Crystals. There’s only 3 left but they should still work, though not as strong as 4 of them together.” [Blaze]

“Okay, but what are we going to do about a house. I mean I can’t levitate ours and you probably can’t lift it either.”

“Well, I’ll think of something when we find some place suitable.” [Blaze]

As we were talking we came to the first Ward Crystal.

Blaze went down for a landing while I went to get it.

After we got it, we went and got the other two.

Now that we have them, Blaze is flying around looking for a good place to live in since our old place got burned to a crisp except the house because it was protected by magic.

After a while we came to a good place, it had a clearing for Blaze to land in and a river for freshwater and quite possibly, food.

The first thing I did when Blaze landed was make a grave for dad…

First I use [Pit] to make a hole to put dad in, then I put him in it and covered it with Earth magic.

After I made the grave, I went and got a stone to engrave his name on so that I can find him later.

Once that was done I turned around and didn’t see Blaze but a man with blue hair.

What the! Who is this person, and did Blaze just leave me!?

“Ah, sorry if I scared you Haliel. It’s me Blaze.” [Blaze]

“What!? But I thought you were a bird?!”

“I am, this is just another one of the skills that I got after reaching level 100. Though my strength is halved in this form so I don’t usually transform.” [Blaze]

“So why did you decide to do it now?”

“Well, I have to build a house right? And I can’t do that in bird form.” [Blaze]

“That’s true. So what do we do now?”

“I thought you would like to stay here longer with your dad… so I’ll go do it myself and come get you when I’m done.” [Blaze]

“Oh...okay, thank you.”

Saying so he left me and started to gather wood for the house.

Not long after Blaze left, I started crying again.

___________________________________________________

It’s been a couple of weeks and the house is done by now.

It was kind of rushed so it’s smaller than the previous.

Anyways Blaze had been teaching me swordsmanship, though it’s only what he knows from watching since dad summoned him.

The things he’s taught me so far are the various stances my dad used and how to do various combos that goes with each stance.

After the training Blaze is going to come with me to hunt some of the lower leveled monster.

Today will be the first time I kill something and the reason is I will need to protect myself more from now on since dad isn’t here anymore.

Blaze will help me deal damage to it and let me finish it off.

Though the monsters are “weak”, the weakest one is still level 30 in this forest.

After a couple of minutes of searching we found a monster.

Blaze has also taught me a new skill which will be useful to me.

“Identify.”

Instantly the information about the monster is shown.

“Alright this one is a good enough target. Stay hidden Haliel until I call you.” [Blaze]

“Okay.”

After saying so Blaze went out of hiding while still in human form.

“Fireball!”

2 balls of fire flew and hit the bear, attracting its attention.

Afterward Blaze rushed at the bear with hands and feet in flame while fighting it close combat.

Blaze also has quickcast because he is bounded to dad, and dad has quickcast.

Normally he wouldn’t need to say the spell but he does when he’s in human form.

Another reason why he’s in human form is because he would be too strong if he was in his Phoenix form and would just 1 shot it.

That is also why he isn’t using anymore spells and is just fighting bare hand, though covered in fire to do more damage.

After landing a series of blows on the bear he called out to me.

“Haliel now!”

“Alright! Wind Slash!”

I slashed in the bear’s location and as I did, the bear got cut in half by the piercing wind.

“Really? That’s a good number for this level opponent. So what does your Status Window look like now?” [Blaze]

“Umm. Blaze how some it doesn’t show the spells I learned but shows my skills? And I thought Wind Slash was also a spell.”

“Ah. Good question. That is because the list would be too long if it showed each individual spells so if you want to look at them you just need to say “Show Tier 1” or whatever tier magic you want to see. And ‘Wind Slash’ is more of a sword, or weapon, technique so it falls into the skill category.” [Blaze]

“And when did you learn that!? I didn't even teach you nor did your dad.” [Blaze]

“That’s because I learned it after observing dad and trying it out during practices.”

“Hmm. You truly are a genius. Anyways let’s go home, it’s getting dark. But before we go let's hunt some animals for dinner.” [Blaze]

“Okay, I will go pick some fruits on the way too.”

Saying so we picked up the drop and went to gather our dinner.

That night we had rabbit stew with the plants and fruits that I gathered.
