Chapter 14 - Another Sister

Right now my training with Yoichi is over and both me and Merilien are resting.

I am still astonished at what had happened yesterday in dad’s room.

“Hey  Yoichi, who is that girl yesterday? I know you told us that her name is Haliel but do you know even more about her than just that?” [Gelion]

“Yeah, like why mom said we will be sisters. Or why mom is so nice to her all of a sudden even though she’s only a half blood?” [Merilien]

Yoichi stood there thinking about something before he answered us.

“Well I’m not sure if you will believe me or not but I’ll tell you, though I don’t know much either. Just what I heard when we had that one talk after we got back from the forest.” [Yoichi]

“You mean when you all went into the guest room with mom and that one guy name…. Blaze was it?” [Merilien]

“Well, I don’t think you’ll lie to us so I will believe what you tell us.” [Gelion]

“Ok then. I don’t know the whole story, but your mother was married before to a Human and Haliel is their child. This means that she technically is your sister.” [Yoichi]

“Why would mom do that!?” [Merilien]

“.... I don’t know. How about asking her? Anyways I will be going to take care of other stuff so I’ll see you two tomorrow.” [Yoichi]

I can see that he didn’t want to answer Merilien, but with Yoichi’s suggestion, she went to look for mom.

‘So she really is our sister…. But why didn’t mom tell us about this earlier?’

‘How come she is so strong? I want to know.’ [Gelion]

“Wait Yoichi! I want to ask something.” [Gelion]

“Hmm? What is it that you want to know?” [Yoichi]

“I want to know why Haliel is so strong even though she is only a three years older than me. Even though I have the [Hero] title and she doesn’t.” [Gelion]

“Oh that. Well, to be honest I don’t know either. All I know is that she does have the [Prodigy] title and started her training since she was only 3. Also, according to Blaze her Intelligence and Wisdom stats had always been extremely high since she got her Status Window.” [Yoichi]

“S...she started when she was only 3!? But even so how is she level 65 already? Is she stronger than you?” [Gelion]

“You’re a smart kid Gelion, but she didn’t get to live like you. The reason she is so high level was because after her father died, when she was only 3, and since Blaze is actually just a tamed monster, he doesn’t know how to raise a child expect the only way a monster knows how; to get as strong as you can, as fast as you can. This means she had been fighting high level monsters since then.” [Yoichi]

“I don’t think I can do what she can then…” [Gelion]

“It’s alright Gelion, just go at your own pace. And besides, you’re growing in strength much faster than a normal person too. Well, I really must be going now.” [Yoichi]

‘Yoichi’s right, she has been fighting her whole life of course she would be strong.’

‘I want to be strong like her and Yoichi, I must work harder.’ [Gelion]

I wanted to know abit more about her so I went around to look for her.

I went and found mom after what Yoichi said to me.

At first I was somewhat reluctant to ask mom but I decided to do it.

“Hey mom, did you really get married with a human before you married dad?” [Merilien]

“... where did that question come from?” [Eril]

“Well, it was when you told us that the half blood was going to be our sister.” [Merilien]

“She may be a half blood but she is still one of my babies. Please get along with her.” [Eril]

“.... Why did you marry a human anyways.” [Merilien]

“I had my reasons. You’ll know why I did it when you get older, for now I would like it if you three get along.” [Eril]

“Okay mom.” [Merilien]

‘I don’t like this… I was the older sister and now I’m a little sister?’

‘I don’t like it, but I won’t complain to mom about it anymore.’ [Merilien]

After the talk with mom, I went to look for Gelion because our math lesson was going to start.

When I got back to the training area, he wasn’t there anymore.

“Where could he have gone off to? Maybe his room?” [Merilien]

I went to his room but couldn’t find him there.

As I was walking out of his door, a maid showed up.

“Oh. Hello there Princess. What brings you to the Prince’s  room?” [Maid]

“I was looking for him since he wasn’t at the training area.” [Merilien]

“Oh, the Prince. I think I saw him entering the Queen’s room.” [Maid]

“Thanks, I’ll go check if he’s still there.” [Merilien]

Following what the maid said, I went to mom’s room and there I found Gelion.

He was looking at someone who was asleep on mom’s bed.

‘Who is it that sleeping on mom’s bed?’ [Merilien]

“Finally found you, come lesson is going to start.” [Merilien]

“Oh you’re right. Sorry I was looking for mom to tell me if she knows where Haliel was but I found her sleeping here in mom’s room.” [Gelion]

“And you were staring at her this whole time? Are you a pervert?” [Merilien]

“W...what!? No I’m not!” [Gelion]

“Besides why would you want to be with a half blood anyways.” [Merilien]

“Hey, that’s not a nice word to say, especially because she’s our sister now right?” [Gelion]

“Even if mom says so, I don’t like it.” [Merilien]

“Why? Is it because she’s half human? If that’s so then why do you like Yoichi? He’s human too.” [Gelion]

“Hey! Don’t talk back to your older sister like that. And it’s because he’s a summoned Hero, not like the other humans. Hmph!” [Merilien]

Because we weren’t quite, the half blood woke up.

“Hmmm? What are you two doing here?” 

“Oh, sorry we woke you. We’ll be going now.” [Gelion]

“Y...yeah, we have to go to a lesson now.” [Merilien]

“Is that so? I think you two should hurry then, don’t want to be late.”

With that we got out of the room and walked to the lesson.
