Chapter 19 - Haliel vs Kiirion

Not long after I just woke up, a guard came to take me to Rinor’s Council room.

When we got there, they were still in the middle of a meeting when Rinor announced that he was going to adopt me into the Royal Family.

Seriously. Now you’re going to do it? I thought you were never going to let this happen?

Shesh and this happens right after I woke up too….

The room bursted into an uproar with them all against the idea but Rinor kept trying to press for it.

After a bit one of the men said something that pissed me off.

Why would I want the throne? It's so much work ruling a place not to mention an empire of this size.

And I am a living person, not just some item that you could toss aside easily! 

Then I hear this thing about me fighting a bratty 11 year old.

So after a complication with that situation, the meeting finally closed and the fight will begin.

“Guards set up the training area and prepare the equipments.” [Rinor]

“Your Majesty, that won’t be necessary, just their weapons would do. Besides it’s not like they’re going to kill each other and the armor will just get in the way.” [Dolon]

“I suppose that’s fine then. So the rule is that no killing each other and you win when you make the other give up. You can only use weapon so chose wisely.” [Rinor]

“So which weapon will you use?”

“A sword obviously.” [Kiirion]

“Then here, a wooden one. To make it fair.”

“What do you mean fair?” [Kiirion]

“Well ‘cuz if I use these, you’ll say I had the better weapons and it wasn’t skill.”

Saying so I brought out dad’s Swords of Flame and Darkness.

The moment they came out, everyone instantly felt the pressure that they gave off.

“T...those swords.” [Eril]

“Such power are emanating off of them…. I see. Sure let’s go with wooden swords.” [Kiirion]

Now that that was decided, we went to opposite sides of the field and took our stance.

The first to charge was Kiirion aiming for my abdomen.

As I was about to move, I felt my body become heavy, just like what I felt when I first woke up.

There was a time lag from when I wanted to move and when my body actually performs those movements.

Good thing I could see his attack or else I wouldn’t have been able to dodge it, just barely.

What the? Why am I so slow? 

Without even giving me time to think he came at me with a barrage of slashes and stabs.

Without [Mind’s Eye]’s assistance, predicting his movements were harder but it was still at a level where it wouldn’t hit me.

“I must admit that you can dodge but if this is the best then you disappoint me.” [Kiirion]

“Getting cocky aren’t we now? Let’s see how you fare against my attacks.” 

After deflecting his stab, I quickly repositioned myself behind him and unleashed my own barrage of strikes.

Though he could dodge some, I still managed to hit him more than he could  avoid them.

“Tch. You are quick aren’t you. Though just that much won’t defeat me. Spirit Refuge!” [Kiirion]

From his sword came a light barrier that just covers him and deflected any attack from entering that sphere.

With this he regained his ground and we went back to being evens.

“Hah pretty neat skill you have there, reminds me of something I saw before.” 

“Oh really? Then how about this? Twilight Assault!” [Kiirion]

His sword suddenly became transparent and shone a light purple glow and with every slash follows a phantom blade.

When he swings his sword this way, I not only needed to deflect or dodge the first slash, but also the phantom blades, making it much harder after each strike.

“Seems I better start using my skills too then. Hope you’re prepared, Duelist’s Dance!”

With the skill on, I could identify all of his vitals spots and the best path to follow for a direct and critical hit.

I danced around him aiming for his vitals while also dodging this [Twilight Assault].

“Tch. Stop moving damnit! Fine you are really pissing me off, Twilight’s Edge!” [Kiirion]

“!”

Pissed off he used and area of effect skill where the phantom blades would extend in length while he goes for a full 360 spin cutting down everything within a 4 feet radius of him.

I wasn’t sure at first but just to be safe I decided to back away from him.

It was a good decision because as I moved back, his [Twilight’s Edge] cut the dress that I was wearing.

Ah! Right I still have the dress on!!!! No wonder it felt so weird.

But not just that, my body is considerably slow, possibly a side effect of me fainting after the battle with Zeph?

Great he just made the dress shorter…. Fucken bastard!

“You know what, it’s fun and all but I think we should end it. Moonlight Flash!” 

“I agree, let’s end this. Shadow Dash!” [Kiirion]

Instantly the area we are in turns dark as my blade shines the color of the moon, a soft pale white glow.

Kiirion was rushing at me as I correct my stance and when I was ready I lunged forward at an incredible speed.

My attack was a direct hit on him and he flew back a couple feet as his wooden sword shatter from the impact.

I walk up to him and point my sword at his throat.

“You lost. If it had been a real fight, you would be dead.”

He just stared back blankly at me then he began laughing.

“Hahahahaha! Perfect! I hadn’t have this much excitement in a fight for a while now. Dad, she really is strong.” [Kiirion]

As I look up from Kiirion, who was now laying on the ground, I saw the stunned faces of the Nobles.

Rinor, Blaze, Yoichi, and mom had a relieved look instead though.

“As you all just saw, she managed to win. So how about it?” [Rinor]

“Tch. A promise is a promise, we will not oppose your adoption anymore but this still doesn't solve everything.” [Dolon]

“Fine, she’ll just show you her worth over time instead then. But I’m surprised you didn’t just want to check her status window instead. Anyways, let’s all go eat as I’m sure you’re all very hungry by now.” [Rinor]

Saying so the nobles followed Rinor towards his Dining Hall.

After they left, Yoichi ran up to me.

“I can’t believe you did it especially with all your stats halved.” [Yoichi]

“Wait what!? My stats were halved? No wonder I felt as if I was so slow. Wait…”

“Don’t worry it says that the debuff is only temporary.” [Yoichi]

“Huff.... That’s good to hear.” 

The news scared me but after Yoichi explained why to me, I calmed down.

After that I got bombarded with questions from mom, Gelion, and Blaze.

Laying on the ground, the girl Haliel pointed her blade at my throat.

This is the first time I lost to someone other than my teacher, who I just recently surpassed.

‘I lost? Not just that, I barely even touched her at all the entire fight….What is she?’ [Kiirion]

Looking at her, she was surrounded by people asking if she was okay. 

Then she looked this way and began walking to where I was and put her hand out to me.

“You ok? Need some help now?”

*Badump*

“!”

‘What was that? D...did my heart just skip a beat?’ [Kiirion]

“N...no need! I’m perfectly fine.” [Kiirion]

“Okay, but why are you still here? Shouldn’t you be going with your dad?”

“I don’t have to be with him all the time now do I? Besides, they’re going to drink now and I’m still too young to be doing that kind of thing.” [Kiirion]

“Hmm. True. So what are you going to do by yourself huh?”

“It’s none of your business, and shouldn’t you go change. You know your dress is showing a bit.” [Kiirion]

“W...who’s fault was it!?”

After I said that, she ran off blushing and made my heart skip a beat again.

‘Did I just fall in love with her….’ [Kiirion]

After they all left, I was the only one who was standing there and I tried to come up with a good reason why I was feeling this way.

After a couple hours of thinking I decided to tell her the next time I see her.

Thinking about what I was going to do, started to blush.
