Year 3024

(I added an auxiliary chapter, read it first!!)

"Ahh! It's finally my turn"

Edward sighed in his heart while he endured the pain of being eaten alive.

His eyes were hollow and lifeless and it was clear he had given up on living.

His dull eyes stared at the humanoid scary creature that was eating his organs with great serenity for its taste.

Edward was feeling too weak to even scream for help, speak less of running away. His legs were already missing and his abdomen had been ripped open by this female zombie.

As streams of blood continued to flow from his already dissected body, Edward could only look on lifelessly, he wasn't dead yet but would soon be.

He could still faintly hear horrified screams of people coming from around him, in such a condition, he wasn't able to pinpoint where the sounds were coming from.

He coursed in his heart. He had only accompanied some survivors, along with his group to go and gather foodstuffs from a nearby supermarket, but their luck had been so terrible that they had to run into a bunch of zombies.

Edward had always been a coward who only hides and runs away whenever he encounters such situations. He never had the guts to fight. He had watched people die before him while he remained still in his hiding spot.

He had ran away from children being eaten because he was too scared to fight a zombie. But today, it seems karma had laid a complaint against him.

After running non stop for God knows how long, he was still cornered by this damned zombie and there's no one who came to help, after all, they were busy with the rest of the zombies outside.

Edward cursed the government, they caused this!

They invented this virus. They made this deadly weapon just to fight their fellow humans, but now what? Their same Trump card had turned the planet into a doomsday.

All he ever wanted was to graduate, get a good job, find himself a pretty girl to marry, take care of his parents and little sister; he cared for nothing else.

But now, all those were wishful dreams. He wasn't even sure if they were still alive anymore. His dreams of wearing a graduation robe was now a mere fantasy thought, all because of the government!

Three years ago when this virus started to get out of control, in the year 3024. The government had claimed it was just in the testing phase, that they had everything under control.

He was just a third year student at that time, he  occasionally saw the matter pop up on the news every now and then, reports of an entire city mysteriously disappearing.

Still, the government claimed it was all a test for the future, until that fateful night.

The night when hell broke loose!

The night when everyone's ultimate goal became to survive.

Countries were completely evacuated. In the face of such destruction, the same humans who sorted to destroy each other came together and created a safe shelter.

Those in power quickly took their loved ones and fled, leaving behind the citizens who were still in the dark.

Hell certainly held a banquet that night as millions of people lost their lives to despair alone.

Edward had escaped together with a bunch of other students and teachers that night. Their numbers continued to dwindle as they traveled, and risked their lives to hunt for food.

And now, finally, Edward was going to accompany those who already crossed over to the underworld. He was about to die. The way he always hoped not to die...

Being eaten!

He felt resentful, he felt hateful and....

ANGRY!

Those damned governments, as if abounding them was not enough, they had also found a way to strengthen humans, equipping humans with some sort of drug that increases strength and speed, helping them fight against the zombies.

But yet again, they kept everything to themselves, only giving it to those who submitted to them. Even in this chaotic era, they still wanted to rule, yet so reluctant to help the weak.

What were they planning to rule then??

ZOMBIES??

They could try. They really should. We will all be waiting for you all in hell!!!

Year 3027, present.

Edward, boiling with emotions, somehow found the strength to gnash his teeth. His eyes trailed down at the female zombie that was still chewing on his organs. His anger intensified.

'Damned zombie, even though you are already dead, you still just had to end me. Where have I ever wronged you? Couldn't you just peacefully rest at a corner quietly??'

He was only in his twenties, yet he was  leaving this world already. He was somewhat happy that he was leaving this doomsday of a planet and at the same time he was somewhat sad because he had left in such a miserable way.

He could still remember the pains he went through when this female cannibal forcefully ripped his limbs off. He even felt more resentful remembering it.

Edwards' body suddenly jerked forcefully, making him almost lose consciousness.

His eyes turned down and the next instance, his pupil constricted as his gaze fell on the hand of the zombie.

More specifically, it was the thing in the zombie's hand that was beating weakly.

It was a heart.

A live heart.

His heart!

This damned zombie just pulled his heart out of his body!

Unknown to him, his transformation into a zombie had already started and a virus box was already forming close to his heart; his heart was already of no use even if he survived at this point.

Adrenaline rushed to his brain, even though he knew his body would soon turn into one of these monsters and he won't be needing his heart.

Watching the female zombie take huge bites of his heart, Edward went berserk instantly.

He was going to die anyways. He suddenly had strength from who knows where, maybe what is known as humans last struggle.

Using the last bit of strength his body could muster, he forced his face towards the female zombie.

Immediately sinking his teeths into its face. Edward bit with his all, he put so much strength in his jaws, yet the least he was able to do was create a small bite injury.

Still, Edward did not stop, bending in a strange and uncomfortable position, he bit harder and harder, ignoring the stinking and sour liquid that should be the zombie's blood.

He swallowed the liquid and kept biting. The zombie finally found him annoying and slapped his face away, Edward fell lifelessly on his tattered back.

The sour and spicy taste in his throat was a very disgusting souvenir of his death. Feeling a little glad that he was able to attack a zombie for the first time in his three years since the apocalypse, Edward's consciousness finally faded; his time was finally up.
