"You ready?" Fablo asked Edward in a low voice that almost passed out as a whisper. Hell, even he was not ready to ascend these stairs but here he was asking if Edward was ready.
Fablo mocked himself inwardly before taking the first step on the stairs as he slowly climbed up.
Edward only followed behind him after a few seconds of hesitation. As for Fablo's question just now, he did not answer but he was sure that Fablo already knew his answer.
Both of them silently climbed up the stairs and arrived at the last floor of the building, The howling of the wind and thunderous lightning strikes echoed outside amidst the downpour. They arrived at the floor that seemed to only have three rooms, they could see corpses on the ground along with green and red blood that had dried up on the walls as they walked past, and just as they had expected, all the corpses here were in similar conditions as the others that they had stumbled on; they were all with empty eye sockets.
Edward shivered to meet the same spooky scene here as well even though they had expected it, he looked around the place that spelled horror with a slightly nervous look on his face; he was barely keeping his composure at the moment and taking everything in him to stop himself from running off the floor.
Cracckkkkkkk!!!
Another loud thunderclap suddenly blasted across the sky outside and illuminated the floor they were in through the broken windows.
Edward could not help it as a startled gasp escaped his lips and he jumped back in fright.
Fablo turned around to stare at him with a bothered expression on his face.
"Are you alright, kid?" He asked in a low tone.
Edward quickly composed himself and nodded with an awkward expression on his face as he began to move behind Fablo, his action just now was quite loud and would possibly alert anything that was on this floor; if there was any, that is.
The two continued to move in silence while leaving wet marks on the floor with their footwear, they began checking the rooms one by one as they could not risk splitting up to make it faster as that could put them in danger especially after seeing the eerie scene on the lower floors, staying in this building gave one a constant ominous feeling that they could not shake off of their minds, it was as if something terrible would happen the instant that they separated.
The doors of the first room had been broken down so they could easily see the ruined state of the room from outside. This room was also not huge and they could easily swipe their gazes to all sides of the room. Aside from the bloodstains, pieces of flesh, broken walls, and destroyed furniture, there was nothing else in the room so they quickly moved to the other room.
This one was also in a similar condition to the previous room with its door broken to pieces and the inside completely turned into a mess with bloodstains everywhere although dried up already. The only difference was the two eyeless corpses that had been reduced to horrifying conditions as they currently had only half of their bodies left, the lower half of their bodies from the waist down was nowhere in sight, their guts were spilled out and even half of it were left.
Edward covered his lower face with one of his hands when he saw the harrowing scene, forcing down the urge to throw up the contents of his stomach. The awful stench of the corpse was so strong that he almost passed out.
"Let's leave," Fablo said and left after quickly glancing around the room with a disgusted look on his face, the stench was too strong for even him to continue keeping a straight face that he would usually have when he saw such sights.

Edward did not dare stay for long and hurriedly went after Fablo who was heading for the last and largest room on this floor.
For some reason, Edward was starting to feel very restless as they got closer to the last floor. His heart beating loudly and the feeling of dread crept into his mind faster and more intensely.
Staring at Fablo in front, Edward could tell that he was experiencing the same thing because of how sluggish his steps had suddenly become and the way he kept his eyes fixed on the door a few meters ahead.
' Whatever must have caused all the corpses on the second floor to here must be in this last room since we haven't found anything since we arrived' Fablo thought to himself as he stared at the door front with a nervous look on his face, he was even sweating despite the coldness that came along with the heavy downpour.
Why won't he sweat in such a situation? Whatever must have removed the eyes of these zombies shouldn't have left because they would have done the same thing to the zombies on the first floor which further solidified his speculation that it must be in this last room and they were about to face it!
Edward and Fablo finally arrived at the front of the door, their eyes swept across the inside. This room was so wide that it could hold over a hundred people without getting too crowded, rows of seats were set inside while a high-stepped platform was in front. They guessed it was some kind of conference hall or similar to where all the workers could gather for briefing but the place was currently a mess as a lot of decapitated limbs and pieces of rotten flesh could be seen here and there. Dried-up bloodstains, both green and red bathed the place like spilled paints, and the chairs were all almost destroyed with just a few still intact or hadn't been flipped over.
Edward and Fablo scanned the place with their eyes but still could not find anything aside from the mess that was left behind by the zombie outbreak, not a single standing zombie could be spotted.
Both Edward and Fablo were not relieved at this discovery, instead, they felt the opposite as distress washed over them. Although finding nothing was supposed to be a good thing, it did not seem so in this situation as they could not think of the possibility of having missed whatever was responsible for all those zombies missing eyes.
"What do you think?" Fablo whispered to Edward while he stared around the place to make sure he was not missing anything.
"I…I don't know" Edward responded after a brief stutter.
'Maybe we missed something, we should go check from the beginning again' Fablo thought inwardly but before he could turn, a low growling sound sounded, causing his legs to freeze in place.
He and Edward exchanged a glance as they saw the slight relief in each other's eyes, and both of them subconsciously felt relieved that they finally found something in this place.
It would have been a disaster if they had missed whatever was responsible for the spooky looks of the zombies. How were they supposed to escape if it turned out to be something they could not win against when it was behind them?
Edward stared into the room with mixed feelings, never would he have thought that he would feel relieved to find a zombie.
'Just what is wrong with me lately? I've been getting unexpected feelings towards strange things' Edward thought to himself as he remembered himself once panicking about healing too quickly because of the sudden changes that happened to him after he woke up.
"Let's go check it out" Fablo whispered to Edward and advanced into the room while constantly checking his surroundings for any unexpected change.
Edward nodded and followed behind him with his fingers tightly wrapped around his bat.
At the back were long rows of chairs that looked more like combined seats that were bathed in dried blood and rotten flesh, the chairs blocked their views which prevented them from seeing what was making the growling sound at the back of the room.
The two of them slowly approached the place.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Strong wind blew into the room causing the shattered window panes to slam into the window frame with intensity, producing loud sounds.
The sudden sound caused Fablo's and Edward's steps to pause briefly as they stared at the downpour through whatever was left of the window. Edward gulped as they resumed walking.
Growl!!!
The growling sound reached their ears again as they finally reached the end of the room and spotted the source of the sound they had heard, at the same time, two big round eyes with red-greenish eyes opened and stared at the two visitors.
"Growl?"
"What the…?!"
"Whaaat?!"
Both of them exclaimed with faces full of shock and disbelief as they stared at the owner of those big eyes.
'The hell is this??!!!!'
They both screamed in their minds as their mouths hung open.
....
Meanwhile, in another building.
Bang! Bang!! Bang!!!
Banging sounds rang out constantly as a large number of zombies tried to break down a door that prevented them from leaving the place.
The room was an empty hall with a large mirror at the end of it. A lot of zombies in Snickers and loose pants could be seen crowded in front of the door as they slammed their bodies on the door in an attempt to break out of the room.
