About To Start

Fablo briefed them of the plan he had in mind and inquired if anyone had any objections or thought to add, no one said a thing and all silently agreed to Fablo's plan as they could not think of any other way better than his.

Zombies were normally stronger than humans…normal humans, to be precise. But the same could not be said for their speed, they were so slow that it was infuriating to suddenly find out that a zombie had already staggered upon you without you realizing it. So that was what they were going to make use of, their slowness.

Fablo was planning to first clear the zombies on the streets before creating a commotion to draw the ones that were inside those buildings outside. The plan looked simple but would require smart and precise execution to avoid alarming the whole area, it would be a disaster if all the zombies came rushing towards them. Also, eliminating the zombies in the buildings was not an option as fighting zombies in an enclosed space was not something they would want to do if there were other options.

Edward looked at the people around him who were about to call zombies to themselves with nervousness. There was a woman holding a long sword that Edward did not know where she got it from but he had learned that she was an instructor as a weapon dojo, man holding a nail gun with a backpack full of nail, another man holding a broken spade that had only one side of it remaining making it look like an ax. The others were either carrying steels or baseball bats just like him. As for Fablo, he was holding a baseball bat that had a lot of nails sticking all over it. The green bloodstains on it told the history of the weapon's deeds.

"Four of us will go draw some zombies over, the rest of you will hide and get ready to ambush" Fablo said and pointed at the dojo instructor and two other men while he asked Edward and the others to hide and wait for them.

Edward did not object to the idea but he could not help but worry about Fablo and the other three who were going to use themselves as bait. What if their plan failed and they ended up getting crowded? Or what if there was a high level zombie or zombies?! It would be a calamity.

But still, he would have to wait and see how things turned out first.

While Edward and the others went to hide, Fablo and the three people he had chosen left and sneaked into the street.

They came behind a building that had half of it collapsed on the street and on the other sides were up to twenty zombies that stood motionless or walking around aimlessly, they needed to climb over the collapsed building to be able to see them but somehow, Fablo had been able to tell that there were zombies on the other side.

"You guys wait here, I'll check on the other side first" he said and the three nodded as Fablo circled around the collapsed building.

Stolen story; please report.

He spotted the first zombie standing still right next to the building immediately he came out. The zombie turned to look at Fablo with its lifeless red eyes, its face looking rotten like that of a corpse and its mouth dripping with blood.

Fablo and the zombie stared at each other as Fablo froze in place, not daring to move for a second. Only after a few seconds passed and the zombie finally looked away seemingly uninterested in Fablo did he breathe in relief and took a step forward.

"Just as expected, the entire place is crawling with them" Fablo muttered softly as he moved silently through the hordes of zombies, none of them reacted to his presence and acted like he did not even exist.

Fablo moved around them and counted a total of thirty seven zombies in the place, the next horde of zombies was still two blocks away so causing a commotion here was still alright.

"Let's do this then" Fablo took a deep breath and clenched his weapon tightly as he gazed at the zombies in front of him. Standing motionless and lifeless might really make one get misguided and think of them as easy prey that could not even harm an insect, especially after witnessing their snail-like speed of moving but the truth was far from that. Zombies were true monsters, humans who had come back to life after death in the form of cannibal demons. Sometimes, it was even to the point of wondering if they were actual demons wearing the skins of these people. They might look weak but you would be terrified once they got their hands on you and their teeth were sharper than blades; Fablo had experienced it first hand. Breaking a bone or two would not stop them either as they would only die after you delivered a fatal blow to their heads or destroyed their virus boxes.

BAM!!

A loud sound rang out, causing all the zombies to turn around and look in Fablo's direction at the same time just to see that Fablo had smashed a zombie's head with his weapon, killing it on the spot. They all looked at the zombie on the ground and then looked at Fablo with confusion, but Fablo did not bother with them and immediately moved to the next one and smashed the confused zombie's head as well.

Only after killing five zombies did the others react and realize that Fablo was not what they thought him to be, instantly, the remaining thirty two all lunged at him with their arms and mouths spread wide open to shred the hulky man to pieces.

"Looks like I've overstayed my welcome" Fablo grinned as he flipped a zombie over his shoulder and pushed back an approaching zombie before breaking into a dash the next second.

….

It had been almost thirty minutes since Fablo left the three of them behind the collapsed building but he had not returned yet neither did they notice any movements from the zombies to notify them that Fablo was still alive or being chased. They were starting to get worried but did not know what to do.

"Should we go take a look?" One of the men voiced out with concern.

"No, we should trust him. He was able to help all of us for a reason and would not put himself in danger if he knew that it would endanger us" the woman using a sword shook her head but her face was still looking tense.

Right at that moment, the ground beneath them suddenly started to shake and growling sounds entered their ears. They did not need to wallow in confusion for long as Fablo dashed out the next and started running towards them.

"Go go go!! Head towards the others!" Fablo shouted at them, they did not hesitate and immediately took off while Fablo followed behind them with the hordes of enraged zombies following behind them.

The fight was about to start!
