Chapter 61 - Ten Council Members

Chapter 61 - Ten Council Members

The moment the barrier surrounding Dela broke down, countless beams of light rushed toward the sky, with a series of explosions covering the vast land. Elemental explosions, void bombs, natural disasters; every single avatar, each having reached the level of a Demigod in the blink of an eye, resisted with all of their might to escape and survive.

“Defiling nature… Lucas Hum, you truly are an abhorrent organism!” Upon witnessing the entirety of Dela transform into ruins, a massive woman with curly green hair grabbed at the distant ground and raised her arms.

Avatars trying to run away from her looked at the ground with fearful eyes, as cracks opened, revealing massive streams of magma. Each magma geyser held divine profundities, and homed in towards the avatars, incinerating them into ashes.

8th Seat Mother Nature transformed into a fiery spirit as the rage of the world was directed at those deplorable scum.

“The immortal path is long and vast. Learning to run when necessary is something to be admired.” A man stood on top of a floating sword. He had long black hair and deep brown eyes. His white robe fluttered with the wind, and a swirl of energy surrounded his body. “Unfortunately, you all would have to meet your end today.”

“Sword Dao—Death Sword Intent!” Wisps of cruel intent gathered around his body, transforming into thin, long blades.

The blades transformed into beams of dark light, stabbing into the bodies of numerous citizens.

With a single attack, 7th Seat Dao Seeker unleashes the might of his Dao!

“Hmph. Crude idiots that barbarically control the world with raw might,” a petite woman said with disdain. She had dark brown skin and had voluminous black hair tied into a bun. Her white lab gown shone with brilliant blue sparks as a construct of metal appeared in the air.

A giant, mechanical orb shifted and warped, causing cannons to form all throughout its surface. A gush of energy streamed into those cannons, and blue lines covered the sky, killing over ten avatars in an instant.

Using the power of technology and science, 6th Seat Overlord of Technology showcased the potential of humanity’s strength!

“Poor souls…” A man caressed a wandering soul with his pale white hand. The ancient black robe covering the entirety of his figure remained stagnant against the howling winds.

Grasping the handle of his scythe, he sighed and gazed at the avatars that had transformed into streaks of colorful lights in the sky. The wandering souls around him seemed to notice his intent as they began to turn dark and ghastly, with a bleak smoke constantly emitted from their baleful figures.

“Seek revenge and attain peace,” his voice was soft yet magnetic, cold yet warm.

Countless vengeful spirits shrieked with the desire to kill, and numerous cities had massive crowds of black smoke rising toward the sky.

Guiding the lost souls, 5th Seat Lord of Death silently helped those pitiful spirits return to the cycle of reincarnation.

“Run, run!” An old man with a ridiculously buff body grinned from ear to ear. His spiky gray hair rose to the sky and his body rapidly transformed from a human into a gigantic humanoid bear with the head of a lion, the wings of a dragon, the arms of an orc, and the legs of a void hopper!

His figure zipped across the sky, and with each wave of his arm, the might of a myriad beast was unleashed. Illusory projections of dragons, mammoths, wolves, lions, and many more roared behind him, increasing his strength to an untold degree.

With every punch, a sonic boom would erupt and a massive air torrent would cover the sky. With every step, he would travel thousands of steps in the blink of an eye.

Avatars fell down like flies against his divine might, and the wildness of 4th Seat Myriad Beast was fully revealed!

A familiar face could be seen standing on top of a ruined building. He had long black hair, bright blue eyes, and wore a complementary blue scholarly robe that matched the color of his eyes.

He stared off into the distant horizon where countless avatars clashed against the Demigods of Aegis. Some took the opportunity to kill while others focused completely on running away from the massive threat imposed by the ten council members currently running amok in Dela.

Crowley had a faint smile on his face as he mumbled coldly, “Even though I already knew you were quite the anomaly back when we first encountered, not even I would have expected this outcome.”

“I’ve spent over a month trying to divine the future, but your turbulent nature has clouded the certainty of fate, and when I did finally perceive the future… I still can’t believe a single man can result in the ascension of hundreds of Demigods.”

“If you had been part of Aegis, perhaps this world would be far different than the one I know now.”

“With the power of a single entity, thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands… perhaps even millions of avatars, all at the level of Demigods, could be under the control of Aegis! At that point, the only threat left for humanity would be the gods of this universe!”

“No, my thinking is too shallow. Even they wouldn’t be a problem, because at this rate of growth, humanity could born thousands of gods in the next few centuries. Sadly, you just had to oppose us, Lucas Hum.”

“Well, when there’s a will, there’s a way.” His eyes sparkled with radiant light as the image of a grand library was superimposed above him. “I’ll make sure to extract the unique power you wield, and use it to elevate humanity to the realm of the gods!”

With an intense desire to capture Lucas Hum, the 3rd Seat Librarian of Akasha wielded the power of knowledge and truth, manipulating reality to his whim.

“An erroneous existence with no ties to the past, not bound to the present, and an ever-changing future. You hold no karmic ties, nor any connection to the reality we call home. Strange, strange indeed…” A bald man sat cross-legged in the air on top of a golden lotus platform. His barely opened eyes revealed a dazzling buddhist radiance as he stared at the distant figures of the avatars.

He calmly raised his arms, and a boundless buddhist aura erupted. Black and white light surged like massive waves, and he uttered a simple word, “Die.”

That one simple word seemingly held the vast secrets of heaven and earth and contained a myriad of wonders to be uncovered. The moment he uttered the word ‘die’, the cause and the effect were set in place.

One by one, the avatars dropped to the ground, their lifeless eyes gazing at the sky, bewildered by their sudden deaths.

Wielding the godlike ability to manipulate karma, 2nd Seat Detached Buddhist followed the karmic ties of the vengeful fallen and gave light to justice.

As the purple light slowly receded, a disheveled yet human-looking Braun crawled out of a giant crack in space, revealing the collapsed pocket dimension within. As he gasped for his breath and a green flame flickered in his hand, he looked up to the sky, a grin blooming on his face.

Standing on solid air was a man with dark skin and a head full of curly hair. His plain brown eyes and plain-looking face calmly gazed at Braun, with no emotion to be discerned. He wore a casual white robe, revealing his muscular frame.

“So you’re the origin of all this mess…” the man calmly walked downward towards Braun. His voice carried no malice nor anger, only the indifference of a divine being.

“Although it is sad to see my own descendants be so cruel to one another, I also have to give my thanks to you,” said the man. “For you might just be the key to humanity’s survival in this chaotic universe filled with bloodthirsty gods.”

“Your power, your otherworldly ability to evolve and transcend at a rate that can only be considered limitless, would be what will push humanity to thrive, and reach a new golden age surpassing the one achieved with God’s help.”

Braun tried to move his body but to no avail. It was as if he had lost control over his human vessel, and instead, it followed the will of the man standing before him.

“Remember this name well, my descendant.” The man grabbed Braun’s head, his eyes turning dark and eerie. “I am the first human to have walked this land, the firstborn man, the origin of mankind—Adam.”

1st Seat Origin of Man willed his divine authority and a terrifying power began to bubble.

Braun’s body, a human body, crumbled into dust as Adam soon sensed a faint connection between this body and countless other ones. They shone brightly like stars and numbered in the hundreds.

Some were fleeing from Dela, some were fighting against Aegis’ demigods, and others were being slaughtered by the other council members.

Time to put an end to this farce.

Through the origin shared between all of the avatars, Adam dispersed his divine might and targeted all of them in an instant. The countless light in the void he saw winked out of existence, signifying their deaths. They dissipated like grains of sand as their life washed away, but some still persisted and fought with all their might to live and survive.

The intensity of their light shone brighter than ever, displaying the monstrous growth rate exhibited by every avatar thus far.

As expected. Adam squinted his eyes and placed his focus on one peculiar flame that was the most intense among them all. He was bidding for his time.

Braun stepped through a crack in space, his figure ever-changing as the overflowing abundance of zenithral power coursing through his body pushed his body to a never-ending state of transcendence.

His pale white wings extended out and contracted, pushing inwards into his back. His pale white body turned smaller, more sturdy, more solid. His fingers extended out, transforming into sharp claws. His eyes revealed a radiant green light.

From a slim, two-meter humanoid creature with a pair of jet-black wings, he now turned into a more humanoid entity of sorts, albeit without a face, muscles, or anything that closely resembles a normal human. He kind of looked like a very detailed drawing of a stickman at this point, just with a humanoid head rather than a ball.

Staring into the distance, he gazed at Earth where a bright purple pillar of light receded. The clouds spun in a vortex, with massive waves visible from hundreds of thousands of kilometers away.

He then glanced at the outer edges of the solar system where a barely visible film could be perceived. With his transcendental vision, he could vividly see the vast universe outside of the film, a world massively different from the sea of stars he would usually see on Earth.

So many… A warped grin appeared on Braun’s uncanny as a thin line formed and opened to reveal an empty black void within.

As he marveled at the sight that lay beyond the boundaries of the solar system, he felt the space behind him warp, and two figures stepped out of a giant blue portal.

Christopher, clad in white light, closed the barrier behind him as beads of sweat dripped down his forehead. The massive burden that it took to transport a divine entity like the 10th Seat Martial Emperor took a heavy toll on his body and spirit, with his arms visibly trembling.

10th Seat Martial Emperor whistled in the void of space where the sound should have been impossible to produce and tightly clenched his fists. Slamming his knuckles against one another, a massive burst of energy erupted out of his figure as his hair rose to the sky.

A wave of energy spread out with him as the epicenter. A faint layer of light formed around his body, and his strength rose to a whole new level.

“Finally, I can go all out!” 10th Seat Martial Emperor grinned from ear to ear as he released the pinnacle of martial arts.

Martial arts were created to maximize the force brought out by the human body, allowing one to defeat tens of men through sheer skill. At the divine level, martial arts can be used to bring out the divine strength of the human body!

10th Seat Martial Emperor’s body disappeared, and in the next moment, his kick appeared right in front of Braun.

Braun didn’t bother to defend himself and let the attack land, causing his body to ricochet toward Jupiter’s moons. As the dust and smoke receded, Braun’s mutilated body, with a caved-in head and cracks forming all throughout his pale white skin, rapidly healed itself.

Not only that, but tens of motes of lights abruptly began to form around his body. They shone brightly like stars, each holding the profundities of heaven and earth.

Authority matrices? Christopher and the 10th Seat Martial Emperor were alarmed upon seeing the motes of light surrounding Braun’s body.

The motes of light then enveloped his pale white vessel and merged with his body, causing his aura to deepen and become more otherworldly. Reality around him started to bend due to his very presence, and his transcendental nature was raised by a significant margin.

“Don’t tell me…” Christopher seemed to have realized something. “All of those avatars… He had intended to sacrifice them from the very start! He was aiming for the ten council members to successfully kill all of them so their authority matrices would be given to him!”

Braun chuckled as he heard Christopher’s theory.

“Spot on as always, buddy!” Braun slowly stood up, with the space around him turning pitch black and devoid of light.

“Now…” A pair of eyes formed on his face, each as bright as the sun. “It’s time for round two.”
