A week later.
“Where the fuck did these monsters come from?!”
“Just hold on! Those government bastards are arriving soon!”
All hell was breaking loose in Insea City’s Right Isle with abominations of flesh crowding the streets as far as the eye could see.
The abominations were like hideous amalgamations of blood, organs, bones, and skin, all liquified into a gooey mess. They numbered over a hundred and had auras no weaker than Level 1.
Any single one of them posed a serious threat to the normal citizens of the city, and with over a hundred of them, lives were plummeting at a rapid rate.
Thankfully, the four gangs were working together as if this wasn’t the first time they had to deal with large monster swarms.
“A month hasn’t even passed and then these motherfuckers arrived. I thought the only monsters we’ll have to deal with are those fuckers from the sea!” A Vermillion Phoenix gang member cursed under his breath as black rubber wires flailed wildly around him, wrapping the abominations of flesh in a thick layer of black rubber wire.
Electricity then buzzed as tiny tears formed on the black rubber wires, frying the abomination alive, and electrocuting it to death. However, as it died, others quickly swarmed its corpse and devoured it, increasing their own strength in the process.
“Damn it! There’s too many of these bastards!” An Azure Dragon gang member roared loudly and his figure swiftly morphed into a new form.
Transforming into a large leopard with metallic gray fur, black sand particles began to gather around his body, covering his leopard form in a layer of armor. He rushed forward with cold black eyes and fought against multiple abominations at once.
Amidst the chaos and terror, blue portals abruptly opened in the sky, with over twenty figures rushing out at once scattered all throughout the Right isle, with all of them being at least Level 2 supers.
Four of them emitted the grand aura of a Level 3 super, and the moment they arrived, the tides of the battle shifted.
From being overwhelmed by the abominations to gaining new help, the four Level 3s unleashed their might.
Shards of glass floated into the air and shot out at extreme speeds that then took down over ten abominations at once.
Another one of them manipulated the light like it was a tangible, solid object. The light transformed into giant swords, long spears, or titanic fists that swept across the streets of the city, decimating the monsters in the light’s way.
On the other hand, a woman forced her way into the crowd of abominations while wielding a gigantic metallic sword inscribed with many runes. Dangerous, dark purple light flashed around her figure as she danced with grace and barbarism.
“Poppy really outdid himself with this one…” Laura glanced at the messy streets and waved her arms.
Wilting grass on the sides of the road, aged trees, and thirsty flowers became lively and rowdy as they were infused with potent life force. Their stems grew long and their barks grew thick. As she willed the plants to obey her every command, an aromatic scent slowly drifted across the city block she was in.
As the four Level 3 members of Aegis acted on their own territories, the four mob leaders of the Right Isle weren’t slacking off either.
“Hmph.” Black Tortoise Leader snorted coldly as his dark bronze skin slowly turned black and sturdy like rocks. His body rapidly grew in size and something began to protrude out of his back.
The other three mob leaders also started to transform into their respective mythical beasts.
White fur grew out of White Tiger’s skin. A pair of tiger ears and a tiger’s tail sprouted out of his head and back. The earth rumbled beneath his legs, with sand particles hovering around his feline figure.
Vermilion Phoenix was bathed by flames and she controlled fire like it was an extension of her body.
Bright orange flames coalesced around Vermillion Phoenix, transforming into a pair of fiery wings on her back. Her neck elongated and his mouth turned sharp to form a bird’s beak. She released a loud cry as she flew into the air.
Azure Dragon roared as scales formed on her skin. Her body turned long and draconic with wind coiling around her massive frame.
Azure Dragon roared loudly and scales formed all across her fair skin. Her muscles were pumped to the brim with blood as her entire body turned long and serpentine. Claws grew out of her torso and wind coiled around her figure. Willing the wind to carry her giant body, she flew across the city, sending out torrents of wind in the process.
The water vapor in the air gathered around Black Turtle as he soon finished his transformation. He landed on the ground with all four of his legs planted deeply into the floor. Water coagulated into spheres around his black turtle shell as they rained down like sharp raindrops.
All four divine beasts released their grand elemental prowess, causing mass destruction to Insea City’s Right Isle as tens of fleshy abominations were wiped out with every single one of their attacks.
Amidst the chaos, Poppy, wearing a jet black suit smiled eerily as he sipped on a can of carbonated water. His piercing yellow eyes glanced outside the window, staring off into the chaos unfurling in the streets.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
I really thought soda water was gonna be sweet, but I guess not. He shrugged his shoulders and continued drinking the can of soda water, unbothered by all the chaos ensuing around him as he sat on a chair in an inconspicuous shop in a random street.
As to be expected, the abominations currently wreaking havoc inside Insea City’s Right Isle were his creations. They were massive chimeras of flesh he spun together and gave shards of his blood, bone, and flesh manipulation crystals.
They were quite easy to create in all honesty, especially considering his zenithral flame had long reached Level 4, and regenerating the fragmented parts of his crystal would take mere minutes, so creating this massive monster tide didn’t take much of his time.
Now, all I need is to kill one of them and let Laura do her thing. Poppy squinted his eyes and diverted his attention to one of the team captains of Aegis operating within Insea City.
The one wielding the giant black metallic blade was the same woman who ‘persuaded’ Laura into joining her team, and right now, she was dealing with a group of Level 2 abominations with a Level 3 abomination leading them.
The Level 3 blood and flesh monster seemed to have more intelligence compared to its Level 2 counterparts, just like how higher-level monsters were generally more intelligent the higher their level was.
It had a relatively humanoid form, with long limbs and a lanky build. Due to the weird way its bone structure was formed, it appeared like the monster had a layer of armor underneath its flesh, causing it to appear like a fleshy armored knight two meters tall. Its sunken yellow eyes glowed brightly with cruel bloodthirst, and its long sharp tongue licked its lips.
“Human, do you dare face me in an honorable battle to the death?” the monster spoke with a deep, gravelly voice. Its underlings dispersed to the side, surrounding the woman in a circle of flesh.
“You know human speech?” she spoke with a curious tone while raising her gigantic blade as if it were as light as a normal sword. Dark purple energy buzzed from the edge of the blade, causing the arcane runes on the body of the blade to light up with power.
“Yes,” the monster said with a crisp voice. It extended both of its arms to the side, transforming them into two sharp blades. “Is it so strange?”
“I suppose not…”
“Hmph, very well then.” The woman’s eyes glowed with a dark purple light as she declared loudly, “I, Ulva Vaughn, wielder of the demonic greatsword Soul Raven, accept your challenge!”
“Interesting…” the monster’s grin widened as it also introduced itself for respect’s sake. “Then I, Poppy, abomination of flesh and blood, am delighted!”
The moment the two finished introducing each other, their figure flashed and reappeared in the middle of the ring. Dark purple light and bright red sparks formed in the air as Poppy’s sharp blades collided with Ulva Vaughn’s greatsword.
Strong. Ulva remarked in her mind as the runes on her greatsword glowed brightly. Her strength was amplified to another level as she began to press down on the monster’s bladed arms, and its feet were slowly being pushed into the ground.
“Remarkable strength…” Poppy willed and his abdomen unraveled to reveal sharp, jade-white spikes.
Ulva Vaughn quickly reacted and rotated her body. She barely dodged the sharp bone spikes as they flew past her.
“Amateurish,” Ulva remarked as her smile widened. The dark purple energy of the blade turned more intense and was released from the blade, knocking Poppy far away.
Poppy flew across the air but he swiftly stabbed his hands into the ground, stopping himself from crashing against the wall behind him. His piercing yellow eyes held a deep intensity as he licked his lips.
This is quite strange. He slowly straightened his back and pressed his legs against the ground. Things are progressing too easily.
Poppy, the original Poppy, squinted his eyes as he took the last sip of his soda water and crushed the can.
“To think the day would come where the original would lend me a helping hand,” Poppy mumbled with a smile.
The abomination of flesh and blood laughed loudly out of nowhere as its eyes glowed brighter. Although he hasn’t confirmed it yet, just the mere fact that Ulva is fighting him right now proved that things are more or less going to succeed.
Let’s take things up a notch. Poppy grabbed at one of the abominations to his side and opened his mouth wide, swallowing it fully.
His body then grew in size, gaining a couple of centimeters, while his muscles and flesh appeared to be a shade darker.
“Cannibalism, as expected of crude monsters.” She swung her greatsword like it was made of plastic, releasing a crescent beam of dark purple energy.
Poppy rushed forward at breakneck speeds, revealing speeds far faster than before. He ducked under her attack, contracted his legs, and just like spring, he shot forward at a speed that made him appear like a shadowy blur to even the likes of Ulva.
She quickly reacted by slamming her greatsword down to the ground, erecting a dark purple barrier of energy.
Poppy slammed his transformed arms to her barrier, causing a loud bang sound to echo. The light of the barrier swiftly dimmed the moment he attacked, with a few cracks even appearing on its hemispherical surface.
Let’s try from below.
Fleshy tentacles erupted from his back which then dug into the ground as they attempted to probe the area underneath the barrier. Sadly, just like how his bladed arms failed to penetrate through her defenses, his tentacles were obstructed by the barrier underground.
Oh wow, she’s experienced. She actually covered the bottom part of the ground as well. Poppy inwardly commended her.
Ulva harrumphed as the runes on her greatsword once again shone brightly. The spherical barrier surrounding her body contracted for a moment before bursting off into a wave of energy.
Sadly, she’s not experienced enough.
As Poppy’s body was flung far away, he swiftly cut off the tentacles of flesh and let them flop to the ground right beside Ulva.
While gasping for breath, Ulva raised her blade and aimed it at Poppy, waiting for a counterattack.
“You’re looking at the wrong thing, missy.” Poppy pointed at the sky.
This action of his, along with his words, subconsciously made Ulva look at the sky for a split second, which was enough time for his tiny little ploy to work.
The tentacles on the ground abruptly shot forward, extending sharp, bloody red spikes toward her body.
Ulva instinctively sensed the danger and formed a circular barrier in front of her.
He could actually remotely control his flesh from a distance! She squinted her eyes, but as she realized this fact, she also noticed something on her blade.
Back when the two first clashed blades, Braun had unknowingly left behind a tiny bit of his flesh on the edge of her blade. Normally, that bit of flesh would have long been burnt to a crisp due to the continuous stream of dark purple energy coursing through the bod of her greatsword, but it was actually still there till now…
That alone was strange enough, now adding in the fact that Poppy could control parts of himself from a distance—
Oh crap!
“Bingo!” Poppy cruelly waved his hand down and the blood and flesh left on the body of her blade erupted with ruthless power.
Ulva cried out loudly as the blood dug deep into her forearms, exposing her bones in the process. As she gritted her teeth and used the power of her greatsword on overdrive to try and heal her arms, the lapse in judgment was big of an opening enough for Poppy’s abomination, a being with Level 3 Blood, Bone, and Flesh manipulation.
Bang!
His bloody red fist came flying in from the side, slamming into her bare head.
Blood spurted everywhere as dark grey brain matter was scattered across the ground. Ulva lay on the ground, lifeless, with her head caved in and her skull exposed.
All in a day’s work. Poppy smiled and gingerly took another can of soda water from the refrigerator to his side, enjoying the fizzy texture of his drink.
