A familiar scene greeted both Braun and Kaya as they stood on top of a podium in the Central Hub, with the whole room filled to the brim with the branch’s workers. Golden lights flashed across the area, before eventually landing on them.
Karsen smiled as he shouted, “In three!”
“One!”
“Two!”
“Three!”
Everyone braced and shouted in unison.
“Congratulations!”
Their cheers rang in the two’s ears, causing them to smile helplessly at the extravagant celebration presented to them.
After two months for Kaya and one month for Braun, they had finally finished their training program and could be considered official members of the branch’s super team.
As for why Braun finished a month faster than Kaya, it was because of his undeniable genius capable of soaking in knowledge like a sponge, and the plenty of opportunities he had to gain practical experience with the numerous supernatural activities that occurred within and outside the city.
Having two new supers join their ranks would allow more resources to be allocated to their branch, which was obviously something to be happy about, but everyone inside knew all too well why they were this joyful for the two’s graduation.
Free drinks! Free food! Party!
Just like when Braun first joined Aegis, this was another event where they could let loose and go wild! Fountains of alcohol, tables full of various food, almost-illegal gambling games where they can bet tons of money—it was finally time for blissful heaven to descend upon the mortal plane!
Karsen felt the same way as the rest of the southwestern branch, so ignoring the two new official members entirely, he clapped his hands and shouted, “Okay, the formalities are finally done!”
“LET’S GET THIS FUCKING PARTY STARTED!”
A new round of cheers rang, this time, it was much more sonorous and loud. Champagne bottles were popped as a passionate flame was lit in the hearts of many.
It was finally time to drink!
…
At the edge of space, somewhere on Earth’s upper atmosphere, a white figure blitzed across the sky, traveling hundreds of meters in the blink of an eye.
Two months had already passed since Christopher acquired his powers and went on the path of divinity. His strength had greatly increased since then, especially when one considered that he started as a Demigod-level entity with plenty of potential to uncover.
Moreover, the ever-mysterious ability he manifested could simply be defined as heavenly.
A man who wielded the power of heaven, and a friend-turned-arch nemesis who wielded the power to overturn heaven.
When Christopher considered this, a deep sadness could be seen flashing in his eyes.
As he looked down at Earth beneath him, he couldn’t help but sigh at how things had greatly changed since then. Now, he was a Demigod, a being far beyond the likes of normal humans, an entity closer to the gods than to mortals.
A random attack from him can lead to the deaths of hundreds of humans, and he could destroy even an entire city as long as he wishes to do so.
At least I could still spend time with my parents… Christopher smiled.
Shaking his head, he covered his body in a strange energy barrier and flew higher and higher into the sky, eventually breaking past the Earth’s atmosphere and reaching outer space.
In the far distance, he could see the surface of the moon and squinted his eyes.
Even if he was a little inaccurate with his jump, he should still land on the moon, or perhaps somewhere near it. As he felt the familiar sensation of gravity around him, he waved his hand, and space-time bent to his whim.
The fabric of space folded, closing the gap between two points into zero.
In the next moment, Christopher found himself just a little bit away from the moon, and by a little bit, it was thousands of kilometers. It was already a miracle that he was this close because the previous jump he just made traversed hundreds of thousands of kilometers in one go, displaying the terrifying might of his space manipulation.
Of course, it wasn’t that hard when one realized just how roughly Christopher did the teleportation, so it made it less impressive—it was still greatly impressive though. Hundreds of thousands of kilometers traveled in just one leap is something to boast about.
Tearing through space and making various small jumps in between, he eventually landed on the surface of the moon, with no human in sight.
There was only one reason Christopher went here, it was because he needed a place where he could unleash the full strength of his ability without holding back.
Luckily for me, I could control the electromagnetic spectrum, so there’s virtually no way for Aegis to inspect me right now in this part of the moon, but just to be safe… Christopher closed his eyes and recalled one of the various superpowers he had encountered in the two short months he had spent with Aegis, and vividly remembered a certain ability.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
It was called Concealed Domain, an anti-divination and anti-tracking ability belonging to a Level 2 Super. Within that domain, one’s existence is concealed from reality and could be used for various purposes like invisibility, assassination, etc.
Christopher, however, only needed it for its anti-divination properties.
As his eyes glowed brightly with white light, sparks began to converge around his figure as an illusory vision of the past replayed in his mind, of the way the man capable of creating the concealed domain activated his powers.
After getting the basics down, Christopher began to extend out his hand and mimicked the man in his mind, and reality around him began to warp and pulsate, before eventually disappearing from outside view.
Since his power was far stronger than the Level 2 version of this ability, his concealed domain extended out for over tens of kilometers, fully concealing this place from everyone outside, and since the moon was hundreds of thousands of kilometers away from Earth, then those incredibly powerful beings from Aegis shouldn’t be able to detect him.
Sensing that it was finally okay for him to test out the full strength of his abilities, Christopher smiled and aimed his fist at the ground.
Even though two months had already passed, this would be the first time I’d be using the full force of my power. Just this mere thought made Christopher subconsciously, for he knew how destructive his ability was.
“Gravity,” he murmured, and space-time around his fist began to warp, creating a small gravity well.
“Electromagnetism,” he murmured, and white sparks began to converge around his fist, intertwining with the gravity well.
“Weak Nuclear Force,” he murmured, and the matter around his fist began to turn unstable.
“Strong Nuclear Force,” he murmured, and fissures of light began to form around his fist.
The four fundamental forces gathered into one, forming into the one, single unified force that existed at the beginning of the universe—super force.
As all four fundamental forces bent to his whim and gathered around his fist, he launched a punch towards the ground at full force.
Space turned white, time turned black.
A silent explosion resounded across the vastness of space, with an immeasurable level of energy barely concealed by the concealed domain.
When everything finally returned to normal, Christopher hovered in the air and stared at the empty abyss beneath him. Beads of sweat, both from exhaustion and fear, dripped down his forehead as he stared at the result of his attack—a hole spanning kilometers in diameter, digging deep into the ground with its end nowhere in sight.
Even though he was the one who caused such an attack, Christopher still felt an unimaginable level of fear at that moment.
In his hands, he wielded the power of the gods, an ability that manipulates the very foundation of reality itself.
Imprinting this harrowing image into his mind, Christopher inwardly swore to only use this when absolutely needed, for if he wasn’t careful, then his might would bring catastrophic damage to everyone else.
…
Atop everyone else within the Central Hub, a small group of flies spread out, with each landing on certain corners of the room that would give Braun a full view of the event. Having already evolved the flies beforehand, their shared vision could even rival his eyes, and perhaps even surpass his evolved view.
As he monitored the whole room like a creepy pervert, he kept drinking alcohol nonstop. Only a few seconds would lapse with him not having alcohol, as he would immediately pour himself another cup to drink.
His alcohol tolerance could only be described as astonishing, even for supers with body-enhancing abilities. Even Kaya wouldn’t dare drink the amount of alcohol he was drinking, even if it was healthy, yet Braun kept downing them like it was water.
Braun also didn’t forget to enjoy the plenty of food that he could eat for free, filling his large plate to the brim with plenty of meat, desserts, and carbs.
If everyone was assigned a sin that represented them the most at that moment, then Braun was indisputably representing the sin of gluttony.
He kept eating; he kept drinking.
This went on till the day came to a close, which ended along with the party. Everyone, dead drunk, was forcibly sobered up as white gas spewed out of the branch’s ventilation system.
When they inhaled the white gas, all of the drunkness in their body disappeared, and they returned to normal.
Upon realizing that the party was over, they groaned helplessly but returned to their workplace, knowing full well just how heavy of a responsibility weighed on their shoulders. At least they managed to party till they were unconscious and sleeping on the ground.
As some workers went on to clean the Central Hub, Karsen approached Braun and Kaya with a smile.
“You two had fun?” he asked while taking a sip of a clear drink which was definitely alcoholic.
“Yep,” Braun mumbled and nodded his head.
Kaya nodded her head.
Chuckling lightly, he turned around and motioned for the two to follow him. “Come, we’re still not done with your graduation.”
“Where are we going?” Kaya curiously asked.
The two followed Karsen from behind, and they soon entered an elevator. Upon arrival, Karsen pressed a button that led to a floor near the bottom of the base.
“You’re going to choose your artifacts,” Karsen said blandly.
“Artifacts…” A light twinkled in Kaya’s artifacts.
Braun grinned upon the mention of artifacts and felt his heart thump with unusual excitement.
According to what he learned from the rest of his team, they would receive a list detailing all of the artifacts Aegis is willing to give them—and all is not a term to be used lightly. They were really going to give Braun a list of all the artifacts he could pick from ranging from Level 0 to Level 2.
This alone was something that would greatly move him because information like this was something only high-level researchers could access within the Archives!
There was of course a catch to it though. After picking their respective artifacts, their memories of the whole list would be erased, but who was Braun?
He had his memories erased multiple times already, causing him to acquire certain resistance to its effectiveness. This was like inviting a robber into your house; Braun would, without a shadow of a doubt, use this for nefarious purposes.
As Karsen began to explain the procedure, it was exactly the same as what Braun learned from others, which only made him all the more excited.
When the elevator door finally opened, they were greeted by a hallway with white walls, white floors, and white ceilings.
At the end of the room, they saw a highly guarded room, with a strange transparent box floating in the middle, and a terminal propped on the floor beside it. Guards stood across the whole hallway, staring intently at the three of them with indifferent eyes.
Even if they were on the same side, they wouldn’t hesitate to gun them down if they did something that would potentially bring harm to Aegis.
Passing by them, Karsen led the two down the hallway and into the strange room where the floating box resided. Upon arriving inside, Karsen pressed something on the terminal and a hologram abruptly appeared in front of both Braun and Kaya, which contained a detailed list of innumerable artifacts.
“Take your time sorting through the artifacts. It took me a couple of hours before I chose mine, so be sure to pick the one that would suit you the most,” advised Karsen.
Braun barely heard Karsen’s voice as he was totally engrossed in the list of artifacts presented before him.
Kaya, on the other hand, nodded her head and began to silently scroll down the dizzying list of artifacts.
Karsen chuckled and walked outside the room, giving the two some alone time to pick their artifacts.
