As soon as he heard the announcement, Braun immediately reacted and dilated time around him, pushing everything to a near-frozen state. In this world of near-frozen time, a maniacal grin formed on Braun’s face as malicious thoughts crept up his mind.
This was the opportunity he was waiting for all this time, a moment where utter chaos would befall, an event where he could fish in troubled waters.
In a near instant, the tips of his fingers turned illusory as invisible threads shot out into the void, piercing through the walls and floors.
It’s finally show time. Braun allowed time to return to normal, waiting for his adversaries patiently.
Nora and four of her clones waved their hands in unison, and weapons were conjured from the void in their hands. The remaining combat personnel in the base scattered throughout the floors under Nora’s orders, while Braun remained standing beside her.
“Damn it!” Nora cursed as she found out that she was unable to contact anyone outside, including the team’s captain, Karsen.
“What’s wrong?” Braun asked as threads concurrently wrapped around his whole body.
“Communication is cut, this is a planned attack on our base!” She tightly clenched the metallic rod in her hand, and intuitively knew that the situation they were in right now was greatly dire.
“Fuck…” Braun widened his eyes and played along.
Then, as if to add further insult to injury, the power in the base abruptly cut off, causing all the lights to turn off.
Without electricity to power the base’s defense mechanisms, their strongest layer of defense was broken, leaving only the base’s combat personnel, both normal and super, to defend it from the intruders.
A loud bang resounded from a distant hallway, with one of the hallways’ numerous gates broken down in one attack.
Although it was far in the distance, the intensity of the attack and the pressuring aura both Braun and Nora felt signified one thing—there was a Level 3 Super.
…
Above Civer City, both Christopher and Solar Spear fought with awe-inspiring intensity.
Waving his hand, Christopher warped gravity to the extreme and manipulated space, conjuring a void-black blade. The void-black blade shot forward, tearing through space and arriving at Solar Spear in an instant.
Solar Spear snorted and the solar flames surrounding his body intensified, and akin to magic, he burnt through the blade of space, defying the laws of logic.
How absurd. Christopher gawked at the sight and couldn’t help but click his tongue at the vast difference between mortal supers and demigods. At this level, our abilities reach the domain of laws, defying the conceived rules of reality!
It’s just that my four main abilities, the four fundamental forces, are intrinsically tied to reality, so it’s harder for me to achieve such feats as burning space by virtue of replicating their superpowers. However, it isn’t impossible.
A few minutes had already passed since he had been fighting the mercenary Demigod, and Christopher was confident that he had deduced enough of how Solar Spear’s ability functioned.
Even though he can’t replicate it as it would expose the true nature of his superpower, he could still use his absorbed knowledge to counter that space-burning solar flame!
In less than a second, Christopher shot off another void-black blade, tearing through space in a moment. However, if one looked closely, there was a near-invisible layer of mystical light covering the void-black blade.
When it came into contact with the solar flame surrounding Solar Spear’s body, it actually cut through it, unlike Christopher’s previous attempts that resulted in the blade merely burning into nothingness.
Solar Spear was quite surprised by the sudden effectiveness of Christopher’s attack, but he wasn’t flustered by it. As an experienced demigod who had been in operation for decades, he wouldn’t be flustered by something as minor as this.
The solar light around his body brightened and he quickly moved to the side at incredible speeds, dodging the void of space with plenty of time to spare. Then, as he moved to the side, light and flames gathered around his hand, forming a brightly lit solar spear.
He thrust his hand forward and the spear flew, splitting off into countless projectiles along the way, covering Christopher’s entire field of view.
Crap. He hurriedly extended out his hand and clenched it into a fist, creating a gravity well in the middle of all the flying spears.
With his other hand, he erected a wall of warped space, conjuring a solid wall in front of him.
The solar spears directly ignored the gravity well in the middle of the sky and crashed against the erected wall of space, exploding into tremendous bursts of light that illuminated the night sky.
In an instant, under the barrage of spear-shaped solar light and flames, the wall collapsed and dispersed into fragments of light, while the remaining spears shot towards Christopher.
Christopher clasped his hands in an instant, and just as the spears were about to hit him, he disappeared and reappeared in another point of space, which was right behind Solar Spear’s current space.

Time around his body warped as he unleashed one of his gravity manipulation’s trump cards—temporal control!
The gravity around his fist warped to the extreme, and in one blow, he launched a devastating punch that broke the fabrics of space-time.
Under the immense speed of warped time and the immense strength of warped gravity, Solar Spear’s body was flung across the city, with the cloak of flames surrounding his body massively reduced, exposing some of his bare body underneath.
He swiftly stabilized his body in the air without even grunting in pain and simply rekindled the cloak of flames around his body.
Solar Spear stared at Christopher, his eyes turning into slits.
So he could also control time. This is going to be an annoying fight.
…
While Christopher’s and Solar Spear’s fight was more like a spar between two opposing demigods with no real animosity, the situation between Abbie King and Dark Wind was greatly different.
The roars of mighty lions shook the skies, while dark winds gathered throughout the entirety of the city, forming gargantuan vortexes that threatened to swallow the city whole.
As Abbie King sent a punch forward, the manifestation of a herculean lion formed behind her which then followed the trail of her path, ramming straight against the withering vortexes around Dark Wind.
Dark Wind simply floated behind his layer of defenses and continued to destroy the city, causing untold destruction, with the deaths amounting to a skyrocketing amount.
Abbie King, upon seeing that Dark Wind was still intent on destroying the city, glared at him with great anger and roared loudly.
Her already wild hair turned all the more beastly, with it wildly flailing in the air as the energy she exuded caused the wind around her to flutter. Her already large body turned all the more gigantic, with fur growing out of her skin completely. Her eyes turned predatory and her teeth turned sharp; she soon transformed into a humanoid-shaped lion, with a majestic mane and bulging muscles.
She stood upright with her fangs bared out.
With a swing of her hand, her herculean strength gathered and resonated with the spirit of the herculean lion within her, transforming into a gigantic claw-shaped mark in the sky that tore through the air, arriving right before Dark Wind in an instant.
Harrumphing in response, the dark winds around him converged and quickly withered the majority of the attack’s power, causing it to disperse into residues of its once mighty form.
As someone who had reached the peak of Level 4 already, Dark Wind was in no way weak.
However, Abbie King, as an experienced Regional Director who had been safeguarding her region for decades, wouldn’t be defeated so easily by the likes of Dark Wind.
The two released the full breadth of their auras, causing a clash of dark winds and herculean strength in the sky.
Dark Wind wore a mocking smile, while an intense bloodthirst lingered in Abbie King’s eyes.

Inside the Central Hub, the last gate leading to the room burst open, with a burst of wind pressure entering the room.
Three cloaked figures slowly walked in, with the one leading the group exuding the pressuring aura of a Level 3 Super.
Wind Pressure Manipulation. Both Braun and Nora immediately identified the Level 3 super’s ability, grasping a vital piece of information that could potentially save them from disaster.
Without waiting for them to talk, the combat personnel within the room immediately launched attacks, sending a torrent of laser beams and gunpowder bullets. Nora’s clones did the same as they used their guns to attack from a distance, while Braun hurriedly weaved together a protective net around the rest of them which was nearly invisible to the naked eye.
The Level 3 Super of the opposing team snorted at their attacks and, without moving a single limb, conjured an explosive burst of wind, causing the bullets to fly back in disarray.
As they did so, one of the cloaked figures stepped forward at incredible speeds, transforming into a humanoid-shaped shadow that quickly expanded in size, willing their shadowy body to become a dome-shaped shadow that tanked the laser beams with ease.
Various openings appeared on the dome of shadow, with numerous rifles poking out. In an instant, a hail of bullets was launched against Aegis, countering their attack with their own guns.
Braun flexed his fingers and the fine threads in the surroundings clumped together, forming a silvery wall that blocked the hail of bullets.
Just as everyone sighed in relief, a torrent of winds rushed against the wall with catastrophic power backing it, causing the already thin wall of threads to be destroyed in the blink of an eye.
Devastating winds broke through and crashed against the people acting as the base’s line of defense, blowing them towards the wall behind them.
Nora and Braun remained firmly standing on the ground, yet their faces were pale and grim.
Braun’s carefully constructed defense was broken just like that, with one simple torrent of wind.
The Level 3 Super smiled at their grim expressions and pressed his hand forward, creating a ball of highly pressurized wind. Waving his hand, the sphere flew forward, landing in the space between Braun and Nora.
This attack though took a bit of time, and having to decompress the sphere would take a bit of effort, giving Braun his much-needed opening.
Time dilated to the extreme and Braun’s illusory fingers twitched.
Threads shot out of his fingers, flashing through the air, piercing straight through Nora’s forehead who wore a bewildered look, unable to comprehend why Braun attacked her.
On the other hand, space tore open right beside the Level 3 Super, where the maw of a giant furred beast poked through, biting into the man’s body like tearing through paper.
In the blink of an eye, the man suffered a severe blow, while Nora was practically guaranteed to die on the spot.
Space once again tore open, but this time, the fracture appeared right beside Braun.
With a wide grin plastered onto his face, Braun leaped through the portal at breakneck speeds that appeared like a blur to the naked eye, disappearing from everyone’s view.
The giant wolf that appeared from nowhere was also gone as it retreated its head back from the fracture in space, disappearing entirely from the premises.
A bewildered silence descended on the ones who witnessed the bizarre scene that occurred with seemingly no rhyme or reason.
Braun betrayed his teammate at the last second, killing her and dodging the Level 3 super’s attack by entering a portal that opened and closed in less than a second. There was also a wolf’s head that appeared from a fracture in space, taking a bite out of the level 3 super’s body, dealing them severe damage before hastily retreating just like Braun.
This silence didn’t last long, however, as the Level 3 Super ignored the pain from having a chunk of his body bitten off, and waved his hand, shouting coldly, “Attack!”
A massive torrent of wind burst out of his palms, slamming against the already weakened forces of Aegis. Some directly died from the attack, while others had their limbs broken from being slammed forcefully against the wall, knocking them unconscious.
The two supers quickly regained their bearings and rushed forward, with one transforming into a shadow on the ground, rushing at breakneck speeds, while the other conjured an array of guns behind them, shooting a hail of bullets against the Aegis forces pressed against the walls.
A bloodbath soon ensued, yet Braun didn’t appear even once to help.
Although confused by the situation, the Level 3 Super still pressed forward with his team.
The orb is already so close. Once we get it, our organization, Night Storm, will ascend to new heights as our leader becomes a Level 5 Demigod!
