Everyone it has been a while since the last looking back chapter so let's get to it. A lot happened these last ten chapters centered around Lanthim's attending the academy. As well the arrival of Mynrea's sisters at the end of the last chapter. The importance of the three will play out over time as Lanthim gets more active with Leinea in different ways.
So what happened in this last ten chapter arch. Well, the limiters are not all that important used mostly for bringing himself and his younger brothers down to a more manageable level. Currently, both Melryn and Aldain are comparable to the high templar. The only reason that Aldain did not receive his limiter the same time as Melryn was because he would not be participating in the tournament.
So receiving his Limiter at a later date both these limiters basically ground both brothers to nothing meaning they can't use mana. This is mostly to hide the presence of other human male mana manipulators. This may call into question why he would remove his own limiter in order to heal some girl he never met before.
The answer to this question shall follow in the next arch as we move towards the actual tournament itself. With a lot of stuff actually happening in the story between the many characters interacting within the world. In order to get the most out of the tournament arch, I will be extending the chapter range from ten to fifteen chapters before the next Looking Back chapter.
With all that what was accomplished in this last group of chapters aside from using most of them to get Lanthim into the academy. While having a few battles along the way. The arch in truth was more for character development than anything else. Dealing more with Leinea and Lanthim's relationship. Thinking about what I have written up till now I have left other characters that need more help than these two just swaying in the breeze. So I hope you lot will forgive me if I go for a little detour in the early chapters to work on them a little more.
Putting that aside the battle of rune blades while incredibly short. Has importance as we will see Arielia start moving away from trying to kill Lanthim. Fienya also will start to mot be so aggressive in trying to kill him. However, that does not mean she will not be a continuing hindrance to his actions in the future.
Now to the academy which Lanthim would much rather not have to attend. During the training exercise, anyone will have noticed that Lanthim uses a fire spell that while deployed he never actually activated. With his original plan meant to take the flag then as he crossed back to his side of the field, the fire spell would activate incapacitating everyone on the opposing side in one action. Dealing with both the flag and the enemy team in one strike.
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
As in the story, this did not happen which makes thing more fun. For the most part academy, life will be either extremely boring or mildly satisfying. There never being a peak moment when Lanthim enjoys the institution more than necessary.
Now moving on to the healing of Freina which will have important repercussions not only in the tournament arch but much of the story to come. The ordeal that this child went through was devastating. Losing not only her parents but her eyes, tongue and legs were all taken. Leaving a living corpse to live out the rest of her life as an invalid. Now some might think as it is written that Lanthim proceeded to heal her out of compassion for her situation.
The truth is somewhat different because Like Syrelia who could see the future Freina could read people's thoughts with almost no effort. That being the case Lanthim will begin to take measures to see these abilities are taken care of and molded properly.
And now the final part the coming of Mynrea's sisters. While we only hear of their coming in the last chapter. Many may wonder why these three characters are important to the story. The answer is the position of their clan in dragon society. While they do sit in a comfortable position the Howergald clan sits in the upper echelons of the nine minor clans of the Dragon race. Above them are what remains of what was thirty-six ruling clans that shared the authority to rule over the dragon lands. Of those thirty-six only two remained.
Therefore, in order to achieve greater prestige and power a marriage into one of these great houses was necessary. At one time almost three hundred years ago Mynrea almost succeeded in securing such a match. Only to marry the human Nedral instead which led to a rift forming between herself and her sisters. Eventually, Mynrea left Nedral making the idea of securing a desirable marriage more likely. Until she married her divorced husband's twenty-third son leaving everything her sister worked so hard for again going up in flames.
With all that happening the decision that was made to live with Mynrea for a time was mostly to observe Lanthim and to see whether he was worthy of two dragon wives that could have been used to advance the clan.
So that is it for this Looking Back guys if you have any questions ask, any comments post and please suggestions are always welcome.
