Chapter 7 Sealing

Chapter 7 Sealing

Confusion was all that Lanthim felt as he did not understand what was going on around him. Frera just stood at the foot of his bed, looking at him like an emotionless, almost dead person.

"You will learn to forgive us, Lanthim. This action is necessary to preserve your life and for the fulfilment of our own goals." [Frera]

Her voice was so cold the temperature seemed to change with her presence. She was slowly moving from the foot of the bed closer to where Lanthim was sitting. Raising her arm, the boy shook in fear. She was exposing a hand from the sleeve of her long dress, advancing toward him.

"I do not understand what is happening." [Lanthim]

Fear was now all that Lanthim felt. Frera's cold gaze and whatever she would do with him made his skin crawl. Backing away felt like the most logical idea. As he attempted to do so, his bed completely disappeared underneath him. Floating where the bed once was, trying desperately to get to some form of safety, Lanthim was trapped.

The touch of Frera's hand on his forehead brought to his attention just how powerful she was. Trying as he might speak, she had rendered such capacity impossible. Such a being existed only with her touch alone. She caused him to be completely unable to function; all he knew was fear of the unknown.

"Since you cannot speak or resist, I shall explain your situation." [Frera]

Frera had now taken a seat. Where the chair came from. He did not know.

"It has been decided due to your inability to keep yourself inconspicuous. Develop your Mana manipulation techniques to a point that may soon threaten your life. The bulk of your mana is to be sealed away until such a time comes that we see fit to have said seals removed." [Frera]

Like a teacher at her desk, Frera gave her purpose for being present, with not even the slightest care.

'What sealed who are you to decide this for yourselves. This is my life. Leave me to live it my way.' {Lanthim}

Lanthim attempted to free himself from Frera's magic but could not. The construct she was using to hold him in place was of a degree that he could barely comprehend.

"You think that we allowed you to reincarnate. For some fun game. Or that there was mercy in it. Do not be a naive child. We required you to be born to fulfil our purposes, the defeat of Calgian, and nothing more. Yes, we will allow you to live out a life of your choosing; however, when you endanger yourself, it dooms our plans, so we must act." [Frera]

Her words cut deep ever since he was born into this world. He had tried with all his might to reach a position where he could do what Frera suggested. All these long months, he had endeavoured to reach a point where he could quickly be ready for such a battle.

Standing from her chair, Frera looked at him with pity, coming closer to Lanthim, placing her hand on his back and then saying.

"Did you seriously think that you could just become just like us? In a few years and then prevail in the end. It would be best if you had stopped after your mother locked you up. I found it funny watching you carrying on with no care in the world. Only for it to fall to me to bring you low." [Frera]

A finger now pressed up against the centre of his back.

"At least I will see you suffer for such insolence." [Frera]

With these final words and a dark, cruel smile, Frera implanted the sealing magic into Lanthim's back. In an instant, the pain of the magic sequence hit him. As he had never been hit with pain before. He could feel nothing, just eternal, endless pain as the seals slowly carved themselves into his back.

As Lanthim continued to suffer extreme pain, Frera slowly monitored the progress of the seals. The primary seal would confine almost all of his mana in a state he could not use. After this, a pair was put on each wrist. These were semi-active, allowing whatever mana was left to be used sparingly.

Tears ran down Lanthim's face; the process was almost over, and he felt near death—any energy he had been completely spent. Trying to take in a breath with such pain had taken what energy he had left. Finally, the final sequences were finished, and the pain slowly subsided.

Underneath him, his bed reappeared instantly, but gently, he was placed upon it. Frera stood over his tired little body. Her smile had not diminished in the slightest.

"So now you are just like any other man, weak and powerless. Find the true way to achieve power, and you will find that what you had before was a pale imitation." [Frera]

Frera's words resounded in his ears, and then sleep took him.
