Chapter 49 Remembering the Past-Preparing for the Future

Chapter 49 Remembering the Past-Preparing for the Future

All was silent as Leinea looked at her husband with a blank expression. She didn't even have the ability to comprehend what he was saying. The Forsaken had destroyed the world then remade it as they desired.

"I do not understand! They have not been heard of for over four thousand years how can they be your enemy?" [Leinea]

Feeling somewhat apprehensive in asking this question. She had no idea how far Lanthim's relationship with those people went. Long before she had ever met him he had struggled against these cruel tyrants.

"I was once an instrument that they wished to use for their own purpose. Over the years, this puppet cut its strings preparing to destroy them that made it." [Lanthim]

His words confused Leinea even more than before. His actions were deliberate and decisive. There was no why that he could or would be controlled by anyone. That being said his admittance at being the puppet of others she found incredibly disconcerting.

"For most of my young life living with my grandmother, I heard much about you. Your strong desire to learn magic even when others tried to make you stop. Of everthing, I was told never were you depicted as a puppet of others ambitions." [Leinea]

"My father had ambitions as to did my grandmother. However, my mother held them all back and created the environment in which I could prosper. Putting her great effort into account, one could say that I have lived devoid of struggle and fear." [Lanthim]

Standing from the table, Lanthim walked across the balcony looking out into the forest.

"At the age of just one year, my mana was sealed by the Magi Frera. Her cruel smile remains in my mind to this day when I sleep. That seal has long been lifted from me but the memory of the weak me pushes me to fight them even harder." [Lanthim]

Turning to see what Leinea's expression to his reveal to his seal being gone he found what was expected. Having dropped her cup of tea which shattered into many different pieces. Leinea covered her mouth looking almost like she was about to cry.

"I heard that if the seal on your back was ever released that you would become a being that no one could best. From what I have seen, I should have noticed. But to think that the one who put the seal on you was one of the Forsaken." [Leinea]

The tears in her eyes were genuine and Lanthim felt her pity for his past self as each tear fell. Coming to her side Lanthim took her hands in his. Having a most gracious smile he kissed them both then her cheek. Blushing as he did so Lanthim chuckled to himself.

"I receive your kindness for my past self with no arrogance in my heart. Let us have no more tears for the child that was and move forward together." [Lanthim]

Leinea's hands grasped his tightly as she smiled beautifully. Both looking to each other while doing nothing. Just being happy with the way things were in the now.

The Sound of footsteps came from the door that led back into Leinea's apartments. Lanthim did not move nor did he let go of his wife's hands.

"My mistress, you have a visitor may I let him enter?"

"A visitor? I don't remember being informed of anyone coming today." [Leinea]

Looking to Lanthim who looked to have no problem that someone just entered the residence without his knowledge seemed strange to Leinea.

"You knew someone was coming and said nothing to me?" [Leinea]

Her tone made Lanthim feel somewhat fearful.

"I did not think it was a problem." [Lanthim]

His hands began to shake as her grip tightened around his hand.

"Mistress, shall I have the guest enter or leave?"

Still waiting for instruction the maid remained on the other side of the door.

"Have this visitor enter." [Leinea]

Leinea answered as she eyed the chair on the other side of the round table. Releasing his Leine's hands, Lanthim sat where he was bid smiling as he did so.

"I find your lack of common sense disturbing my husband we will have to remedy the situation when I am not busy." [Leinea]

While it was true that Lanthim did not adhere to the strict standards that many in this world lived by. He had found that living by his own brand of common sense was more effective than what the rest of the world lived by.

"Well, my dear young wife if you think you can fix me I will be pleased to give you whatever you require." [Lanthim]

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

Lanthim snicked from where he was sitting. Not realizing that Leinea was prepared for his sarcasm. Just as the door opened so to allow Leinea's visitor to enter. An atlas from the other side of the room hit him square in the back of the head.

"Well if you wanted a little off the top you should have use something lighter Leinea. A swift pain is more annoying."

A familiar voice came from the other side of the door. Eldra Nyrotral stood in the hall with a massive smile on his face.

"Eldra you cause me great inconvenience by giving her advice in how to inflict pain on a man." [Lanthim]

Rubbing the back of his head, Lanthim glanced over at his wife who seemed satisfied with her action.

'Don't think I will let you off easy my dear.'

He thought to himself still massaging his head.

"Sit father, what brings you to my home this early in the morning?" [Leinea]

Gesturing to the seat next to her that Lanthim had used earlier. Lanthim nodded as Eldra sat with them still smiling.

"I bring congratulations to your from your great aunt Caltyen for your being married. While she has voiced concerns about the groom being human. The clan supports the marriage fully." [Eldra]

Looking rather surprised by this Leinea looked to Lanthim. Who seemed clueless as to what was going on.

"Will they be sending someone to make sure I don't run away from my responsibility to the clan?" [Leinea]

"There has been talking but since you have your grandmother here I don't think having children will be a problem for either you or her." [Eldra]

"Why would someone be sent from the Howergald Clan to ensure there were children. What does it matter to them if it happens in nine months of thirty years?" [Lanthim]

Sounding slightly irritated by the planned interference of his in-laws Lanthim folded his arms in silent protest.

"The main reason is exactly that they don't want to wait for forty years between pregnancies and ruin a valued bloodline simply because the two of you may have some feelings for each other." [Eldra]

Brutally to the point, Eldra did not hide anything in what the clan desired.

"If I may state my mind Lanthim you have just turned seventeen not long ago so they could give a postponement for a time. However, you as powerful as you are can not afford to be childless for long." [Eldra]

Eldra was telling no lie nor was he sugar coating anything. The simple truth in some cases could be a painful thing.

"One more thing before I finished my purpose for being here. My mother's third sister Tayrie has sent a request to be able to stay with your family for a time. Mostly just a check up on the conditions in which Leinea and mother live here." [Eldra]

Lanthim looked to his wife who seemed startled by the idea of having one of her great aunts coming to her home.

"I barely remember her from my childhood. I have no objections in her visiting but I have no confidence in entertaining such an important guest in a residence that I have not entirely explored myself." [Leinea]

Satisfied with this answer, Eldra sat back in his chair becoming a little more comfortable.

"I don't think you will have to worry too much over the residence itself. Also, your grandmother will do most of the hosting for her sister. So all you must do is learn from her example." [Eldra]

"I will do my best I never thought that I would see any of my great aunts again." [Leinea]

The mood became lighter as both took some tea. Lanthim stood making his way to a smaller table on which were some other items such as sandwiches and the like.

"You have told Mynrea of this before coming here of course?" [Lanthim]

Taking a bite of a piece of pastry Lanthim and Eldra looked at each other. Both had a tense look on their face neither wanted to deal with Mynrea in the morning she was an awful tyrant at the best of times.

"Of course, I have told her there is no need to worry." [Eldra]

"I am glad to hear it. Oh, and make sure you give Mynrea your love before you leave my son. You know what she can be like if you hide things from her." [Lanthim]
