Side Objective Added

- Defend the City.

In a strange new set of circumstances, the demon you'd been hunting has forced you into her service, making you her champion. Guided by her words, you will need to journey to Caldasher, and find a way to kill her brother Tazrael.

***

Deafened by the screams of terror, you draw your blade and begin racing towards the city walls, thinking your best chance of survival would be to fight alongside the Honor Blades rather than risk escaping the chaos that was engulfing the entire city.

Feet pounding across the stone pavements, you dodge and weave your way amidst the crowds of panicking minotaurs, their screams of fear assaulting the ears as you, Gorrack and Lorna search for a way through the packed city streets. Dozens of buildings lie in smoldering ruins to either side you with more balls of fire screaming down from above to create plumes of smoke. The thick black columns lifting up into the warm breeze to clog the air.

Swerving around a corner, you narrowly miss bumping into heavily built orc, who growls at you angrily, before chasing after the Honor Blades, who seem intent upon reaching the gates. The sound of beating drums calling them to battle and the thunderous blare of war horns guiding their footsteps.

The streets slowly empty out as the people flee towards the temple, allowing you a glimpse of the thousands of Honor Blades gathered by the gates. A massive Minotaur in ornate golden armor standing upon the battlements, his ringing voice loud and clear for all to hear. "Today we face the day that Ice Eyes has long feared would come to pass! Bagrodar the fearless has returned! And has brought with him an mighty army to wipe us out! But we shall not give in! By the will of the Lightbearer we shall fight! And we shall honor the deeds of our Lord Ice Eyes! For Honor!"

Gorrack listening to the Minotaur's impassioned speech, smiles grimly, before hefting his battleaxe. "It looks like they're readying themselves to attack."

Seeing the long lines of warriors forming up into solid square formations, you'd have to agree with the orc's assessment. The Honor Blades were indeed preparing to sally forth, no doubt in the hopes of eliminating the enemy siege engines that were raining down hell upon the City. A noble if not futile endeavor that would most likely cost the lives of many warriors. Even with the City in the condition that it was in right now, it was still far more preferable than launching an all out assault out into the open, where the abyss knows what would be waiting for them. And if they were right and the Troll King Bagrodar was outside the City gates, he would not be alone. A sea of enemies would be between them and their target.

You briefly consider heading back the way you've come, when a firm hand grips you by the shoulder and spins you around, forcing you to the meet the steely hard gaze of a Minotaur warrior in full battle raiment. His sea blue eyes gazing at you up and down with a face built of stone, taking note of the frayed edges of your worn out clothes, before resting upon your notched blade. "What are you doing here? This is no place for your kind. Everyone must take shelter in the temple till the battle is done."

A little annoyed with the imperious tone of his voice, you begin drawing your weapon, when Lorna intervenes, placing a soft hand upon yours while speaking directly to the Honor Blade. "But we wish to fight. My friend here is not half bad with a blade and I can wield the bow."

Startled by her words, the Minotaur again stares hard at you as if to ascertain the truth of her words, before turning to look upon Gorrack. "What of the orc?"

Lorna smiles sweetly. "Gorrack is a orc berserker from the Blood Stone clan."

Blue eyes widening in shock, the Honor Blade gives Gorrack an appraising glance, before nodding his head in a slight show of respect. "Very well, I will not turn aside willing hands. My name is Kal-ruane, I lead the Silver Horns. You may join my warriors in the assault, but we'd best hurry. Lord Iron Heart will want us ready to move out."

Sulkily silently at your poor introduction, you follow the well-muscled Minotaur through the waiting ranks of Honor Blades to where the Silver Horns have set up their position by the gates. The company made up of the hardest, meanest looking minotaurs if ever you've seen, each one of them sporting more than a few battle scars with their horns adorned with silver plate.

One of the minotaurs a huge beast of warrior with muscles stacked upon muscles glares angrily at your approach. "Who're these pukelings you've brought with you Kal? You lost little pukeling?" The last question directed towards you.

Spoiler: Spoiler

Face reddening in anger, you glower back at the Minotaur, and draw your blade. "Who're calling pukeling, you hob eating mud drinker."

The beefy Minotaur throws back his head and laughs, his whole body shaking with amusement. "You've got courage dragon heart. The name's Bal." ( +1 Gorrack Companion Reputation)

(Click here if you choose to do nothing.)

Spoiler: Spoiler

Tamping down your anger, you sigh heavily and release the boiling hot rage inside of your chest, before truing to look away.

The beefy looking Minotaur spits at your feet in disgust. "What nothing to say bellow-heart. Maybe you need a lesson in hearing." The warrior steps forward and clenches his fist, when Kal-ruane holds up hand. "Enough Bal, let him be." (-1 Gorrack Companion Reputation.)

"Everyone here geared up? Good, Lord Iron Heart wishes us to link up with the Gold Tips at the center. We are to lead the main assault."

Bal rolled his shoulders, before giving a dismissive shake of his head."To the abyss with the Gold Tips, we can do this on our own. The cowardly bellow-hearts will only get in our way." A sentiment equally shared among the surrounding warriors, who grunted in agreement, before going silent beneath Kal-ruane's steady gaze.

"Those are our orders and we will do as commanded." Taking their silence as assent, Kal-ruane turned and continued. "You three will join Bal's unit. Obey his commands and you'll do fine. The rest of you get ready to move out!"

Horns blast through the sky and the massive steel gates slowly began to creak open. With one last wayward glance to the heavens, you burst forth out of the gates like caged animals, Bal veering off to the left, while Kal-ruane moves off to the right. The Silver Horns swiftly fanning out to either side of you to create three ranks of warriors charging across the rough and open terrain. The smell of dirt, sweat and smoke quickly filling your lungs as the scorching hot suns burn overhead, beating down upon you.

Throat parched from the dust, you gasp for air and watch in awe as hundreds of Honor Blades in full plate armor pour out of the city behind you, forming up into huge sweeping columns that sparkle with light. The very ground quaking beneath their footsteps as they pound across the land.

Buoyed by your allies, you swiftly gaze ahead of you, searching for any signs of the Troll war host and let out an almost imperceptible wince of despair as thousands upon thousands of trolls in their treelike armor, emerge out from the forest to flood the entire field, their forces easily dwarfing the minotaur's several times over.

Inwardly cursing yourself for a fool for trying to do the right you thing. You re-think your position on abandoning the minotaur's again, when you catch a gleam of steel from the corner of your eye.

Almost unable to believe what your seeing, you watch in slow motion as the soil erupts all around you, trolls bursting up out from the ground with hundreds more trolls materializing to the left of you.

(The choices you make here, will decide the fate of the Silver Horns. Be sure you pick wisely and save your energy for the more critical battles. You will usually be given two choices, you may only pick one.)

Battle 1.

Choice 1. (Click here if you choose to help the minotaurs defend the frontline.)

Spoiler: Spoiler

Pouncing forward alongside Gorrack, you wedge yourselves deep within the enemy ranks, hacking and sawing your blade deep into their thick hides. Lorna's bow offering what little support she can from behind as you try to cleave your way through their tightly packed ranks.

The trolls tearing and knocking you from side to side as you fight to keep your balance, when suddenly the left side of the Silver Horns caves in under the weight of the trolls that have managed to outflank Bal's warriors. The trolls hitting the vulnerable rear and flanks hard to squeeze the minotaurs in from both side.

Wincing with each wound you take, you try to fall back and do your best to protect yourself and Lorna as the battle rages back and forth. Gorrack releasing his berserker rage in a furious blast of power that shatters the lines of trolls, their crazed yellow eyes, backing away fearfully from the orc's powerful axe as he sweeps through them like a demi-god. The main host of Honor Blades joining the battle with a thunderous roar that shakes the land as they crash into the enemy, driving them back.

Sweat pooling down your spine, you pull Lorna further back and try to escape the crush of bodies all around you, when Lorna shoots you a derisive snort of amusement and slips free of your grip, disappearing in between the ranks like fluid water, leaving you to struggle alone.

Bruised and battered, you manage to finally break free of the mayhem, before being forced to rejoin the battle as more trolls enter the fray.

Ducking a wild swing from a club, you shove your blade down it's throat, boot it's chest backwards, spin to face the next troll in line, when the trolls begin break away and fall back.(-90 Health Points.)

Choice 2. (Click here if you choose to take on the Trolls to the left.)

Spoiler: Spoiler

Shouting a swift warning to Bal, you rush to meet the oncoming trolls moving to outflank the Silver Horns. Lorna's arrows flying past your shoulder to pluck a few back with well placed arrows in their hate filled eyes. The hulking creatures with deep bark colored skin quickly closing the gap.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

Bracing yourself for their assault, you meet the troll in front of you with a deft cut from your blade, before being bowled over by the sheer weight and number of the enemy.(Move on to Choice 2 to see results of this decision.)

Choice 2. Continued here. (Click here if your companion reputation with Gorrack is 3 or higher.)

Spoiler: Spoiler

Gorrack letting out a bellow of rage, rushes in to thrust back the trolls, the great big orc, single handedly keeping the creature's at bay, while you swiftly scramble back up to your feet.

Nodding your head in thanks, you rejoin the fight.(-30 Health Points.)

Choice 2. Continued here. (Click here if your companion reputation with Gorrack is lower than 3.)

Spoiler: Spoiler

Rolling across the rocky ground, you try to scramble back up to your feet, when a troll appears right in front of you to bring it's club smashing downward with immense force.

The corner of the weapon, smacking solidly against your chest as you manage roll to the side and leap back up to your feet. Taking the creature by surprise with a powerful slash to the throat.

A few of your ribs cracked from the blow, you stumble forward clutching your chest to rejoin the fight, a part of you angered that Gorrack had done nothing to help you.(- 60 Health Points.)

Letting out a scream of rage, you charge forward alongside Gorrack to battle the stalled trolls, the pair of you working closely together to parry and strike. Lorna reappearing seconds later with dozens of Silver Horns in toe, to hammer back the trolls and send them packing.

Reinforced by more Honor Blades streaming forward to join the battle, the Silver Horns quickly turn and begin charging forward once more. Balls of fire spraying across the blue sky to burn dozens of warriors alive. The bright orange flames scorching a close path to yours, forcing you to dodge out of its way, but not without receiving a few burns to your upper shoulder and arms. (-60 Health points, Elemental damage.)

The trolls fleeing to the west of the battlefield, abruptly swing around to link up with a whole host of enemies appearing over the horizon to recommence their assault against the Honor Blades far left flank.

However that was a threat that would have to be dealt with by the minotaurs to the rear of the army as Kal-ruane continued his race towards the Troll war host, the noise of their siege weaponry drawing closer and closer, pummelling the air with a whooshing sound as more balls of fire were loosed.

Exhausted beyond anything you've ever felt in your life, you gasp for each breath you take and clutch the growing stitch in your side. A part of you cursing the Honor Blades stupidity in rushing headlong into battle.

(Click here if your companion reputation with Lorna is above 2.)

Spoiler: Spoiler

Feet dragging from the long arduous journey, you feel yourself gradually slowing down further and further, when Lorna places a hand upon your shoulder and whispers something in your ear. A warm surge of power, flowing up and down your body, removing your exhaustion.

Head shooting up in surprise at the magic that infuses your body, you give Lorna a grateful smile and quicken your pace to catch up to the Silver Horns, who haven't slowed down a bit, despite carrying heavy plate armor on their backs. (Add +5 Health Points to all team members.)

(Unless you have received aid from Lorna, minus - 50 Health Points.)

Licking dry parched lips, you catch your first glimpse of the enemy fortifications and cannot help but compare it against the dwarven underground networks you've seen in the past with deep trench lines dug in all directions, filled with thousands of waiting trolls, while further back stands the largest troll you've ever seen guarded by six burly warriors in full plate armor similar to those worn by the Honor Blades, their equipment daubed black, no doubt to reflect their pitiless souls.

Grip tightening around the hilt of blade, you notice Kal-ruane slow down to a crawl and come to a complete stop. The lanky Minotaur, holding up a fist to halt the rest of his warriors, who quickly began to redress their lines. The Honor Blades forming up beside them to create thick columns of warriors to either side, stretching for many miles in both directions.

Nerves on edge, you wait with bated breath, hoping the order to attack would come soon, when you see Lord Iron Heart gallop out across the field atop an armored wingdart appearing completely calm, his sunken grey eyes looking down upon them as he rides up and down the lines, searching for any imperfections. Raising his sword to the sky, he cries out, "Attack!"

Thrust forward by those pressing up against you from behind, you surge forward up the slight inclination. Gorrack and Lorna sticking close to your side, and feel the air tingle with energy as the minotaurs let out a battle cry that would surely have reached the heavens, the powerful sound reverberating through the air, before being torn apart as they crashed against the lines of trolls with a deafening crack. Blood, bodies and limbs flying everywhere as the Honor Blades punched their way clean through the front lines of the enemy, like an spearhead carving its way through a rotten watermelon. The weight and strength of the Honor Blades inexorably driving them deeper and deeper into the midst of the enemy, their boots crushing the life out of the bodies of the Trolls that fell beneath them, only to be halted by the trenches.

Battle 2.

Choice 1. (Click here if you wish to leap down and clear the trench.)

Spoiler: Spoiler

Leaping down into the trench, you roll back up to your feet and slash at the nearest trolls, Bal and Gorrack joining you to either side to create a storm of steel. Unfortunately however in the tight confines of the trenches the fighting becomes much more intense and you have to take care not to wound any of those beside you.

Sweating heavily, you grit your teeth and try to push the trolls back, but there's nowhere for them to go and they fight back with reckless abandon, clobbering you with blows to the chest and skull, causing you to briefly see darkness.

Eventually with great difficulty, you do manage to clear a portion of the trench and with the help of Gorrack scramble up and over the other side to lie breathless upon the ground, before twisting round to help Gorrack out.

Panting for breath, you help what is left of the Silver Horns that had followed you into the trenches out and march back out across the battlefield at a jog.(- 100 Health points.)

Choice 2. (Click here if you wish to leap across to other side and continue pushing forward.)

Spoiler: Spoiler

You leap across to the other side, almost slipping on the edge and continue rushing forward along with more than half the Silver Horns.

Kal-ruane taking the lead again as they fought their way deeper into the enemy entrenchment. Hundreds of trolls clambering out of their defenses to meet them out in the open, where they were cut to ribbons by the Silver Horns, their skill in battle vastly superior to the brutish trolls.

Smiling with glee at the easy slaughter, you curve off to the right, avoiding the thickest parts of the trenches, before leaping across once more. Each time losing a few more warriors as those unable to make the jump are quickly mobbed by the trolls waiting below.

And although they were taking a few casualties, you still think this was far better than slogging your way through the troll infested trenches, though you do worry that you may not receive any support from the rear units.

Dazzled by a brilliant white light to right of you, you catch a glimpse of minotaurs in bright golden armour marching under the command of Lord Iron Heart himself. The troop of warriors making easy gains along the fringes of the battlefield, before being swarmed by hundreds of trolls that close in to surround them.

Kal-ruane breathing heavily, gestures for his warriors to reform the line, before dashing forward to the commander's aid. The Silver Horns taking the enemy from behind and tearing right through them to join up with the Gold Tips.

The fierce clamour of battle erupting all around you as you try to keep yourself alive amidst all the carnage and bloodshed. The heavy clash of steel on steel raking your senses as you try to dance your way in amongst the enemy, your blade flashing back and forth to block and counter.

Lungs on fire, you try to keep your legs moving, Lorna and Gorrack doing what they can to help relieve the pressure off of you as you fight the hardest battle you have ever fought. Sweat stinging your eyes as you block attack after attack, before countering with one of your own. The enemy eventually withdrawing back to their trench lines.

However the fighting is nowhere near done yet, the six bodyguards protecting the king advance forward along the edge of the battlefield to meet them, followed by a massive host of warriors. You realise almost instantly that without any help, they would all soon be washed away into oblivion. And while that knowledge terrifies you, it also makes you feel alive for the first time. The cares of the world dropping from off your shoulders like they were nothing.

Feet moving freely of their own accord, you thrust your way out in front of the Silver Horns and march forward alone into the wide open space that split aparts their two forces.

Lorna and Gorrack exchanging odd looks with each other, before moving up to join you out on the field.

The wind feels good against your skin, and you let out a soft sigh as you look up into the now darkening sky.

"What exactly is your plan?" Asks Lorna.

You smile wistfully. "No plan really, just wanted to get some fresh air."

Gorrack let's out a bark of laughter at your reply, while Lorna's face reddens with anger, her mouth opening and closing as she tries to find the right words to harangue your stupidity. But you honestly couldn't care less at this moment.

You hear calls from Kal-ruane to fall back, but you ignore him as well and watch the advancing trolls, who for some reason stop and allow the six hulking trolls to advance forward alone.

Eyebrow rising up in surprise, you wonder what they're are up to, when Lorna gasps out. "They must think we have come here to challenge them."

Half smiling in delight you scream out, "Come on then!"

(For the next part, you will need to battle the creatures below, following the same rules as you would in an arena battles with a few exceptions. If you're unfamiliar with the Arena rules please go back and read them, before continuing on.

Wounded and bloodied, you come out of the fight still very much alive and cannot help but smile with satisfaction at your victory. The Silver Horns and Golden Tips letting out a mighty roar that echoes across the battlefield.

With the winds changed in your favor, you look back towards Lord Iron Heart. "We must press the attack!"

Iron Heart's steel grey eyes flicker wide open in surprise, before gazing back over towards the milling trolls, who seem have the lost the will to fight, their King storming about in a fit of rage over the death of his most prized warriors.

Face devoid of all emotion, Iron Heart raised his fist to the sky and bellowed, "Charge!"

The two companies of warriors surge forward once more all around you. The wind whistling past your ears as your feet swiftly eat up the ground.

As you near the ranks of trolls, you see their pug, ugly faces twist up with fear as they turn tail and flee at the very sight of them. Bagrodar, tearing into the backs of his fleeing warriors with a fury, before hammering the Honor Blades back with great sweeps from his immense mace.
