Boarded by an entourage of officers in heavy mail, the orcs inspect the ship, speak to the Captain and crew, then pull away to allow them through to bustling docks where you gain your first sight of Orkeylium, a bustling metropolis of strange sounds, noises, and unfamiliar scents that float across the breeze. The small port city holed up in wide cove that curls up around you with hundreds of shanties made of driftwood dotting the shoreline. The place reeking of fish, sweat, and salt.
Nose cringed up at the unusual sights and smells, you’re escorted down the plank by the Captain, who upon reaching the docks holds up a hand before you leave. “Here, I was meant to give you this package once you arrived in Ryzak.” The orc stated in a blunt voice, before shoving the package into your arms, and storming back onboard.
Curious to see what was inside you quickly open it up to find a small pouch filled with 10 gold pieces, a fragment of a map, and a hastily scrawled message that said, “Speak to Hasgraw.”
Half smiling at the challenge ahead of you, you look up and feel Yazrul at the back of your mind. “Looks like you have a starting point, but where to begin?”
Choice 3. Do you check the Inns for Hazgraw?
Desiring more information, you swiftly head to the nearest Inn, a slightly slanted building with two stories. The people out front watching you with stern expressions as you pass them by and enter inside.
Having never seen so many orcs crammed in together, you look for a seat by yourself, one as far away from everyone else, before gesturing for the tavern keeper, a robust dwarf with a round belly who hurries over towards you with a congenial smile.
“Well, look at you laddie, you’re barely off your momma’s tit and here you are swilling it with the dregs of the world. What can I get you, laddie?”
Not liking the familiar way he spoke to you, you had have half a mind to claw out his eyeballs, before controlling the urge, and nodding your head for him to sit down across from you. “I need information.”
Eyes lighting up in delight, the dwarf plastered on a fake smile.“Well then, allow me to accommodate you. I’ll answer the first question for free, but the rest will cost you a gold piece each.”
Mouth twisted into a smile of your own, you reply back, “I only desire one answer. The location of Hazgraw.”
Fingers brushing through his beard, the dwarf looked around, before leaning forward. “Would you be surprised to learn that you are not the first one to ask about him? Your Hazgraw is quite the popular man ever since he found that damned stone of his. The fool stole it from a Vancloren if you can believe it? And tried to sell it here in town when he vanished suddenly. Now if that’s all ye wanted to hear, by all means, leave and walk out that door. Otherwise, it’s time to pay up.”

Hand moving across the table, you pull out a gold piece. “Who else is looking for him?”
Mouth widened into a broad smile, the dwarf pocketed the gold, then leaned back in his seat. “Guess it might surprise you to learn that you are not the first Dark Mage to come through this town. In fact, I must have seen a dozen of your fellows pass through this place in the last few days alone. Though there is one, in particular, you probably should avoid. He goes by the name of Shade and killed at least a half dozen guards before leaving town.”

Gold slapped onto the table, you ask, “Which way did he go?”
Shoulders shrugging, the dwarf replied, “As to that, I can’t say for certain, but what I hear is that Commander Karon might be looking for some payback, and is gathering a small army of mercs east side of town to go after him. I reckon your best bet would be to speak to him, though gods know why you’d want to go after such a monster.” (You’ve received your first lead. You may now continue exploring town.)

Dropping a gold piece onto the table, you ask, “Who is this Vancloren?”
“Well that’s the thing, lad, no one knows? He showed up in town several weeks ago and begun buying up supplies for a hundred mouths, though what a bloodsucker would want with food, I have no idea. Anyway, our thick brained Hazrgaw got it into his skull to rob the fellow and recruited a few men to do the job with them. Then the next day quick as you please, he returned back alone, trying to sell some gem. Of course, no one wanted anything to do with him, and then he just vanished as well. Guards went looking for the Vampire, but he had disappeared as well.”
Expression turned grim, the dwarf stared down at his palms. “Whoever that vampire was, he gave my blood the chills, an I’m glad to be rid of him.”

Watching the dwarf palm another gold piece, you ask, “Tell me about the stone?”
The dwarf shrugged and smiled. “Nothing to really to tell there, boyo. Hazgraw claimed it had magical properties, but as far I could tell, it looked like any other stone I’d ever seen. Although there is one thing you might be interested to learn.”
Eyes drawn into a far off look, he said, “Hazrgaw claimed it was The Grimvar, a local legend about a stone that is guarded by some terrible beasty or whatnot.”
