I spun around in the dark empty corridor, my legs slowly dancing to the pounding rhythm I had in my mind. Out of all the days in this world, Spookyween was always my favorite.
The pumpkin decorations, the blood splattered everywhere, cobwebs covering everything and everyone, and the extreme lack of any light. Is there nothing but love on this wonderful holiday?
False! Spookyween is quite indeed lovely but the main kicker, the main course in this buffet, is the mood. The creeping sense of despair, the nonstop shaking of nerves, and the violent thumps of people's hearts are just so beautiful and charming.
And as an expert in being a menace, The festive spirit helps me turn my gears. Like a mechanism created for joy, I am created to spook, and also devour flesh but that isn't distinct, so scaring it is.
I stumbled onto one of the doors, my body pulsating from joy and excitement. I raised my ever-so-changing hand, preparing to knock.
*Krikikiki*
My hand slashed through the door, destroying it in multiple defunct pieces. "Give me your soul!"
"Kyaaa!" This girl currently screaming is my classmate, blah-blah Erwood. Not my fault names are hard to remember.
"Holly! Help me!" The girl backed away and hugged the wall with her back. Covering her face, she wailed and cried herself just like a lost child.
"Greedy sinner!" I grabbed the doorknob with my black ashen wooden hand, turning it with my long triangular fingers.
"Holly! Where are you?!" She panicked and looked around the room trying to find a weapon and luckily she did.
I opened the door holding a lumberjack's red axe in my spare hand. Raising it into the air I blocked her exit with a festive body. Now you might ask what do I currently look like?
"Please don't kill me! I uh give you all money I have... Currently on me." She said her face slowly smirking.
Well, I'm a mixture of the old spooky trees commonly found in a cursed forest, candy corn, the souls of the dammed and my head is a pumpkin with a nasty scar. "No! I only have a desire for your death!"
"Okay fine! I'll give you all the money I have (on me currently)!"
"Oh really? How much?"
"Two copper coins!" She said holding up a piece sign with a wink on her face.
I jumped the distance between us, my body cackling and my limbs tearing just to shake her up more. "Aaaaahhh!" She panicked and began to punch my torso. It seems I have triggered her figth or flight response.
"Fool! You shall repay for the acts your ancestors did to me!" To be honest I have no idea what I'm talking about but as a master of this particular hobby, I have to take creative liberties sometimes.
So who cares if I'm inventing some fake narrative, she's rich and a vengeful spirit seems spooky enough. Anyway, where was I?
"Perish!"
"Kyaahh!"
My sharp wooden hand dug deep into her neck with enough strength to break it in half. Opening my nasty pumpkin mouth, thousands of spirits shot out, blasting her eyes with visions of horror and terror. From the pain of war, the misery in famine, the joy in conquest, and the truth in death.
"Blergh..."
I dropped her onto the floor because after all, this was just a dream to her. Placing some delicious and potent alcohol in her hands, this would all seem so silly to her when she wakes up from her forced slumber.
"Now... Who's the next target?" Stumbling out of the room, I decide to change my costume for something else. How about a hungry witch or a decaying undead? So many choices to pick from. Gods! Why is Spookyween so fun?!

I tip-tapped on my toes on the floor, my body slowly jumping higher and higher with each jubilant step. But after some time, like an astronaut blown into orbit, I began floating in the air. Well, it wasn't actually floating.
"FEAAAAAST!"
"Holy shit!" Running away from me in a hurry was another classmate of mine, Morgan. This classmate of mine is a particular type of coward, he's as frail as a rabbit without its cannons.
But still, despite being one of the tiniest and quietest voice-wise people I have met, there's just something so different about him.
"JUICY FLESH!" I opened my mouth, revealing thousands of spiked teeth coated with a small layer of blood and organs. My wings flapped and flapped, scattering dust and despair everywhere.
"Water Slide!" Morgan began speeding up, his feet leaving behind a trail of moisture and an abundance of what I presume to be sweat.
But alas, that speed of his was nothing compared to mind. Pushing out two hunks of flesh that ended with barbed wires as fingers, I crawled and crawled. Pulling myself, using the monstrous strength I possessed, I began reaching the fool.
"WHAT WHAT DO YOU WA-WANT FROM ME?!" Morgan pulled back his hand and began to blast water behind him, propelling him forward. Now that doesn't seem realistic at all!
"KRAAAAHHHHAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" I pushed myself to the limit, Grabbing into the walls with thousands of spikes, I pulled myself towards the about-to-be-buried treasure.
*CRASH*
"Oh..." Morgan slammed with all his speed into the wall, his body now nicely resting into his newly created home in the wall.
"Noooo!" I transformed into my Academy self, a boy with fluffy blonde hair, and pulled Morgan out the wall.
"Damn it!" It should have been to scare you unconscious, not this fucking wall. Fuck! Stupid wall.
*Slam*
Now what?
"..."
*Clash*
Metal? Noise? Why?" I fell to the ground, my body becoming a puddle of slime. Crawling my flesh on the floor, I raced towards one of the cooking rooms inside the Academy.
It's so late? And yet another opportunity has been presented to me. I slipped under the door, my body blending into the dark unlit floor.
"Booo!" I jumped up and transformed myself into the rotting corpse of the first-ever saint. As I screamed in terror, my decaying flesh rumbles as it slowly falls off.
"..."
Eh... No reaction. How? Wait who even is this person? A classmate? Damn it! It doesn't even matter.
"CRAAAAAAHHHH!" I peeled off the skin of my face, revealing a gruesomely deformed hunk of bones. But alas no reaction again. Not even a small wink or even a chuckle. Nothing!
I twisted my neck, bending it into a spiral, my hair dripping with oil and blood. My hands moved up and grabbed him by the shoulder, putting my strength, my sharp cracked nails, dug into him. Well, I tried to... But holy shit! My nails are gonna break, what is this guy made of?
"KRIKIKIKIKIKI!" Fuck it! I don't care anymore if I spook you or not, I'm gonna fucking reaction from you. I slammed my head with full force, hardening my bones to be stronger than diamonds. But like a diamond, with its brittleness, my head exploded from the impact.
"Why?!" I spat out my guts into my hand and punched him in the face but again, no REACTION!
"Why don't you react!" I pulled my body out and I began to gurgle out my insides. Flesh, organs, bones, everything I hold fear to myself I barfed out. But nothing not even a small wink of pain.
Why? Why? My mind is spinning... Wait let me just regenerate it first... There we go.
Why? Why? My mind is spinning!

Woah that was spooky... I guess. Almost peed me... You know this remains me of one of my hobbies. Horror movies were the bomb. I think. Some were good and some were bad... I should have watched more movies. Maybe with a friend... If only I had one.
"Why? Why can't I scare you?" The zombie slowly stumbled towards me, its skin barely staying put.
Anyway, this is spooky, what if the zombie bites me? I don't want to be a zombie. Eating brains and stuff... I wonder what a brain taste like? Maybe not a human one but like a cow's brain. Or a pig's brain. Hmm...
With tears in her eyes, the zombie tackled me to the ground. "I'm a failure!" Shrieked the zombie into my face. Thank God! I'm mute.
If I wasn't then I would have already woken up the whole Academy. This is so scary... It's dark and I'm hungry and then suddenly, a zombie attacks me. Talk about scary... I'm sad... I wasn't invited to any Halloween parties. I would have makes a great mine... Hmm...
"Why?" The zombie stood up and began to walk away from the room... Wait a minute, how forgetful of me. I rushed into the zombie and tapped her on the shoulder.
"Huh?" I opened my hands and pushed something into her hands. It was a piece of candy that I got from the Empire.
Happy Halloween! what a nice costume... But I think the body puking was a bit excessive. But who am I to judge? I am not good at reading the mood after all.
The zombie gazed at candy, then at my face. She opened her mouth which was missing a lot of teeth and tongue.
"Thank you." She said with a smile... How spooky but also heartwarming... You're welcome, zombie girl.

A message from me.
> ( Happy Halloween everybody! How did you spend your Halloween? Mine was spent not writing and wearing the comfiest costume to have ever existed in the world. Also, I'm not writing this in the author's notes because I want to increase the word count, cuz Royal Road promised a reward of premium. I don't know what the fuck that is tbh... See you at Christmas)
