Chapter 5: Unfair Punishment

Chapter 5: Unfair Punishment

It was the first day of school and a certain student has just awoken. "Aug, my head hurts." The student was Carver Dmitri Baxter, a 1st year with gray hair.

He was wearing his suit from yesterday's party. He sensed something weird, his bed and clothes were damp and moist. "Did I wet myself?"

Standing up from his bed, he looked around the room. It was a big room with 2 bunk beds, there was a note attached to his wall. "I tried to wake you up with water but you almost drowned so I stopped. (~_~) - T"

"Oh that's a relief, I thought I pissed the bed... I wonder what time is it?". Carver's hands went inside his pocket and took out something round. "Let's see, the current time is... This is an orange."

*Peel*

*Munch*

Carver began to change clothes. Wearing the 1st year's academy uniform he went outside the room. The uniform consists of black pants, a white polo shirt with a black tie, and a black cloak.

Outside of his room was a corridor full of doors. Running to one end he reached the stairs and went to the first floor. Leaving the first floor he ran and ran upwards the hill.

Arriving in the front of the main building exhausted he saw a realistic wax figure. "You're late, our class already went to the gymnasium."

It was a sculpture of the founder of the Academy, Jerma Marblegob. An immortal psychopath wizard who started terrorizing the people 985 years ago.

"Im sorry." Said Carver while bowing towards the wax figure. "Im really sorry sir but where is the gymnasium."

"You ran past it earlier."

"Oh okay, sir." Said Carver before grabbing the hand of the wax figure. He began to shake the hand like he was trying to marry its daughter which broke the arm off.

"...o-oh Mezor."

"You do know I am not the wax sculpture rigth?"

Turning to the left he saw his classmate, Parfait Timber. Parfait had a pleasant smile but his eyes were tired.

Carver threw the arm away and greeted his classmate. "Oh hello, Parfait want an orange?"

"No thanks, I dont think I can eat oranges anymore after you forced us yesterday to eat hundreds of them."

*Peel*

"Did I really do that? I can't remember much."

"Yes, you did that, and much much more." Said Parfait while trembling.

*Munch*

"Anyway, we better hurry now. I have been standing here for an hour," he said before tumbling down towards the gymnasium.

"I think I rather walk."

Slamming into the wall of the gym, Parfait had arrived first. Walking behind was Carver leaving behind a trail of orange peels.

Walking inside, they saw a group of students sitting on the floor. Their teacher was dead on the floor on her own full of blood.

"Oh come on guys, did you kill our teacher without me." Said Parfait with a sad look on his face.

The teacher stood up, her purple robe fluttering in the air. "Im not dead. I am just anemic... Anyway, it seems we can finally start the class."

"Let me introduce myself, I am Aergia, your guardian teacher for the next five years." *Cough* "I hope you all get along with each other because your gonna be classmates until you graduate."

*Peel*

*Cough* " The very first thing we're gonna do is rank you guys based on your strongest spell. So I want you all to wait outside while I look at your spells one by one."

(Progin Arch)

"Show me your strongest spell, most powerful, something that can inflict massive damage or maybe do something crazy."

"Affirmative."

Aergia began to float upwards. "Woah a levitating spell, that is nice." Her body began to float higher and higher. "This is great and all but let me down now."

"Yes of course yes."

*SLAM*

Aergia slammed down on the ground quickly, blood spewing from her mouth. "N-next stu-student."

(Carver Dmitri Baxter)

"Show me your strongest spell."

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

"Well, Im an alchemist so Im not really great at magic."

"It's okay. You can still improve."

"So do I just use it anywhere or like is there a target."

"Just use the spell."

"Okay... Electric spark." A constant spark of electricity came from Carver's fingertip. It was small and fast and it struck the ground. Wherever he pointed the electricity followed.

"Okay next-." Carver's whole body turned toward the teacher, his hand still releasing a wave of electricity. " Stttttttttttttt-udent." She was shocked.

(Cynebald Belial)

"Strongest spell."

"Brimstone's Eruption." The ground began to shake and cracks were forming. A hole formed in the middle of the gymnasium. Ash and dust spewed from the hole coating Aergia. After some time the hole began to spit lava everywhere.

"You fu*Cough* dumb*Cough*, piece of *Cough*!"

Running out of the gymnasium Aergia had tears in her eyes. "Students I need a break, please." Begged Aergia while on the floor. "I *Sob* just can't."

*Peel*

"Stop fucking eating oranges!"

"Don't worry teacher, we understand how you feel. Sometimes life gets a little too rough and we're not able to handle it alone anymore. We are people who have to rely on the kindness of others to truly be happy during hard times. Taking a break is okay to us..." Said a boy handing the teacher a brown small sack.

"Thank you, thank you... This sack is full of drugs..."

"I know..." Said Gale with a sincere smile. His eyes gleamed with empathy.

"Detection, all of you."

----------------------------------------

"Gale, I can't believe you got us all into detention." Said Rosemary.

"Well, I thought it would cheer her up... I remember my master telling me-"

"Do you know how many times I have listened to your rambling about your master? So please dont start rambling about your master again. It's not cool!"

"You know what's cool?" Said a girl walking towards Gale and Alphonsine. Her way of walking had a sense of pride and style. Taking big steps she arrived only tripping once.

"Do we know you?" Asked Rosemary.

"I am Shabina! Anyway, look at this spell of mine, it's the awesomest spell in the whole world."

Multiple Snowflakes started to form in the air. Each Snowflake fell in a spiral downwards, leaving a trail of snow. A shard of ice was thrown into the air. The shard exploded into multiple snowflakes that spelled out "I'm cool" in the air.

Rosemary and Gale, we're silent. They had a worried look on their faces which Shabina mistook for looks of wonder and shock.

"Behind you." Said Gale pointing at Shabina.

"Don't worry, I know you might be behind me now in magic but I will teach you this spell. This mighty spell will-"

"Ahem!" Shabina spun around 360 degrees and then spun around again, this time only 180 degrees.

Her eyes saw her teacher Aergia covered with snow. Aergia had a furious look and a pissed-off smile." Clean this *Cough* mess up... Now!"

Meanwhile in the very back of the room. A girl was sitting alone with a somber look on her face.

"Hey Bridget, I brought sparkling water. Do you want one? You have to pay though." Said Ginto carrying two bottles.

"Do you ever feel like we're side-characters in our own life? I have been awake this whole day, moving, talking, and living but I also felt like I haven't done anything at all. I just can't shake off the feeling of us not existing until this very moment rigth now, like we're characters in a book, not real at all, and will only feel alive when we are the focus of the story. This uneasy sense of not living at all overwhelmed me, maybe we're nothing but small ideas... Are we even real?"

"Characters... Existence... Reality..." Ginto sat on the floor and hugged himself, making his body look smaller. His face was obstructed by the gilded helmet he was wearing but people could tell he had a desolated looked.

"Hey, Bridget do you want to eat at the cafeteria later? Why is there water here?"

"Electa, do you ever feel like we're just a small speck on the big scale of things. This planet had civilization for so long and will continue to thrive way past our deaths. We're just unimportant people living in a world much bigger than us... What we do now will just be a crumb in the timeline of the world. Do you ever think about the people of the past, people with massive influence, who could control the fate of the world, they were probably thousands of them. They had power, riches, and fame yet we only remember some of them. Despite living as massive giants back then, they were easily forgotten. Ever think how many geniuses and heroes were forgotten because of the passage of time. So I just can't get rid of this uneasy feeling of being forgotten. If I were to die now, no one will remember me... The only people that will know my name will be family. But after a century, they will be gone from this very world so who will remember me. Maybe they told their offspring about me but after another century, I will be truly forgotten. Life is so insignificant, no matter what we do, we will always be a nameless speck in the world. Forgotten to time..."

"Umm, I uhh, ehh. hmm... Being forgotten is uhh..." Electa went to the wall. Her face looked down, all emotions lost. What remained was an uneasy feeling of gloominess in the air.

"Hello, classmates any snow around here?" Said Shabina holding a small metal shovel.

"Hey, you guys should cheer up, I mean this atmosphere is quite depressing."

"I was thinking---"

"Eh, thinking!" Shabina's knees fell to the ground. Dropping the shovel, her eyes began to water. She then fell sobbing on the floor, her face was drenched in snot and tears.

In the middle of the room, somewhere more hopeful was a group of scheming students. There were 3 of them and they were all sitting in wooden chairs surrounding a wooden table. One of them stood up, the leader of the bunch.

"You guys already know why I gathered you all here... Mission: Escape Detention. Every single person here, I personally picked them to craft the perfect team, a team of highly skilled professionals."

"Let me introduce myself first, I am Sam Kulagina. I am the mastermind and the brains of the group. I'm also the leader okay."

"Ahem Here is the plan, first we must get out of this room. The only way out is the door so we... DESTROY IT! For that, we have Alphonsine Glory, our Muscle of the group."

Raising her hand, Alphonsine voiced a complaint. "Couldn't we just open the door? It isn't even locked."

"No the door is locked."

"No. Here let me show you." Alphonsine stood up.

"NO SITDOWN!"

"fine..."

"Okay after we destroy the door and leave the room, we need to sneak out. For that we have Inku Mustoy, she can turn invincible and can scout for people before we move."

"Quick question, how do you know I can turn invisible using magic?" Asked a girl with a mask.

"Hmmm... I just know, okay. If we do happen to get caught we have Finley for that. Finley is a shapeshifter, they can transform into our teacher and trick people who find us. "

"And where is Finley?" Asked Inku.

He stood up and slammed the table. He then pointed at an empty chair." Reveal yourself, Finley!"

"Finley?"

"... Uh. I think that might just be a chair. Well, we better start the plan now Alphonsine go break the door."

"Here we go." Alphonsine stood up and walked towards the door. She stood still in front of the door. Her mana began to gather around her arm.

"Wait let me get a running start first." She walked away from the door and began to charge towards it.

"Hey students, you're free to go. Apparently giving drugs to your teacher is not punishable and-"

*CRASH*

Aergia was struck and sent flying backward. "You *Cough*" She slammed into a wall and fainted.

"..."

"Hey, we did it." Said Sam holding his hand out for a high five.
