Chapter 80 - Riftopia!

Chapter 80 - Riftopia!

While fighting against Boss Vage's summoned creatures, Jin Hennessy was vastly taken to the rear by the sudden appearance of numerous dimensional rifts springing into existence within the confines of the azure dome.

“Whose ability is this?” Jin Hennessy became very concerned for his disciples. Glancing around, he couldn’t see them at all due to the myriads of distracting sceneries that were trying to suck in everything in their path.

Boss Vage was also startled but not as much as his old adversary. He had an idea whose ability was in play. He searched his eye around until he located his trusted subordinate in the middle of the chaos unfazed by what was happening. “Tor Eyes, what is the meaning of using this ability here? I gave you a simple task to retrieve one stinking brat not to lay waste to this entire academy. Hurry up and undo this domain!”

“I will not.”

“What? Are you defying a direct order? Need I remind you who it was who gave you control, moreover, taught you how to use that damn Kismet Coin?”

“…” Tor Eyes ignored Boss Vage to focus entirely on Dam Son. He became so fixated on crushing Dam Son that a part of him had shut himself off to reality. His only aim right now was obliterating everything Dam Son stood for; not so much retrieving the Abyss Script.

Looking at his old pal, Jin Hennessy said, “Seems like you don’t have any control over your subordinates, Diceman?”

“Shut up, old drunkard! I renounced that name a long time ago. I go by Boss Vage now.”

“It doesn’t matter to me if you changed your stupid name. You do know what will happen if that subordinate of yours doesn’t cancel his ability?” Jin Hennessy was referring to the dimensional instability that could possibly leave a permanent rupture in Raixom Academy which could expand and devour all that was in its path.

“You think I don’t know that? However, that is the least of my worries.” Boss Vage was more concerned about a portal opening up that led to the Darklands, home to the Mother of Grammar and all sorts of heinous Letter Beasts of the Hellphabet. If they were to cross over into their world then they would create too much chaos which would result in the loss of his profitable business ventures. So far, no portal that led to the Darklands had manifested, but it would surely happen in due time if Tor Eyes didn’t put a stop to his Created Domain, Riftopia.

“Dammit! This is so frustrating. Seems like we will have to postpone our little scuffle, old drunk.”

“So it seems.” Jin Hennessy agreed with Boss Vage to form a temporary truce. If they continued to fight each other with all that was happening around them, it might result in the lighter part of Vocabular going dark permanently. Now the main target of the two old rivals was putting a stop to Tor Eyes Created Domain, Riftopia. “Listen here Diceman, if you want to rescue your subordinates from what’s about to come, I suggest we put aside our differences and work together.”

“Agreed.”

For the first time in a long while, Jin Hennessy decided to go all out. Standing beside Boss Vage he commenced the invocation of his Guide. A powerful Tome decorated with bamboo parts for its cover manifested. It exuded an explosive sound that forced Boss Vage to retreat a couple of paces. Jin Hennessy hardly used his Tome’s abilities because whenever he did, he usually caused a great disturbance. Looking toward Boss Vage, he asked, “So, how do we put an end to this dimensional apocalypse?”

“They are multiple ways to you can end it. Aside from having the caster undo the ability himself, the easiest way is to kill the contracted host of the Kismet Coin, but we both know that isn’t your style.” Boss Vage glance at Jin Hennessy with disgust. “I suggest you shatter all these increasing portals before they become too much to deal with. Shattering them will also diminish the strength of the Blue Kismet Beast which makes the caster more vulnerable. As he is now, it is impossible to get close to him without being absorbed by one of these rifts.”

“And what will you do?”

“I will put an end to my subordinate’s insubordination after you’ve cleared a path.” Boss Vage sounded malicious.

Jin Hennessy told him, “I don’t need your help in subduing your follower. All of what you’ve told me, I can do by myself.”

“Then what would you have me do, geezer?”

“I have a better task for you.”

“And what is that?”

“Some of my students have been sucked up inside one of these portals along with some of your own subordinates. You must bring them back here before I destroy these rifts, can you do that or is it too difficult to ask?”

Boss Vage was offended by Jin Hennessy’s condescending speech, thus he stated firmly, “Who do you think I am? Such a task is easily achieved by me. Just watch.” Saying this, Boss Vage summoned a series of Word Beasts he had at his disposal to do his bidding. He sent them into the accessible rifts to locate and extract survivors who had been unwillingly teleported.

While he did this, Jin Hennessy was busy browsing through the pages of his Tome; looking for a special script that could end the disruption in one fell swoop. “I’ve found it.” Jin Hennessy dipped his hand into an old drawing and withdrew a special double bottle drink that was kept linked with a strong rope. As simple as it seemed, this dual bottle of wine was Jin Hennessy’s special Augmented Weapon that he called, DBN or in other words, Double Barrel Nunchuk.

Boss Vage was a bit startled by DBN’s presence. “You still have that silly weapon with you? I thought you’d improve it by now.”

“This is plenty enough for me. Enough staring, are you close to being finished yet?”

“I’m not as old as you, damn geezer. I’ve finished a few seconds ago.”

“Really?” Looking down. Jin Hennessy saw that Xuan Li, Sugar Bun, Vor Eyes along with some thugs belonging to the Vage Gang were safely riding atop a huge stingray-shaped Word Beast.

Now that one obstacle was out of the way, Jin Hennessy could act freely. “Hey, brat!” He called out to Tor Eyes who was busy striking fear into Dam Son. “You have one chance to call off these portals or I might have to put the hurt on you!”

“Jin Hennessy, I have no need for your futile distractions, now piss off!” Tor Eyes commanded a bunch of rifts to absorb Jin Hennessy for interfering with his dispute with Dam Son.

“Damn youngsters nowadays.” Jin Hennessy amassed a bitter feeling towards Tor Eyes. After he evaded the multiple dimensional rifts that tried to absorb him into their dangerous environment, he prepared himself to counterattack. “I’ll teach you some discipline.”

Levitating a little higher, Jin Hennessy positioned himself above the spreading rifts. Shortly, he began spinning the Double Barrel Nunchuk, making its contents well-stirred within. Next, he popped the lid on the first barrel and began pouring the liquid into his mouth.

While Jin Hennessy drank the intoxicating substance, the veins inside his body started to bulge with a resplendent hue. He hadn’t increased in muscle mass, however, they have strengthened considerably. Visible crimson steam was oozing from his skin pigment. The heat increased the circulation of NVF flow within his body.

Jin Hennessy’s current transformation boosted his Word Fu abilities by 200%. The powerful aura circulating him made even Boss Vage feel threatened. “Damn geezer. He’s still as troublesome to deal with. I should wait until he exhausts himself then strike him from behind.”

The cataclysmic dimensional rift anomaly started to grow wilder, even the azure dome was slowly expanding. If something wasn’t done quickly, then Raixom Academy would be obliterated.

“I won’t let that happen. I will put an end to this detestable Riftopia right now!” Saying this, Jin Hennessy started assimilating with various Powered Scripts all at once; only a pro could do this and not implode.

[Advance Word Fu Script: Muscle Dexterity] (Activated) –510(MAPL)

[Advance Word Fu Script: Strength Enhancement] (Activated) –550(MAPL)

[Advance Word Fu Script: Velocity Boost] (Activated) –500(MAPL)

[Advance Word Fu Script: Explosive Smash] (Activated) –600(MAPL)

[Advance Word Fu Script: Rapid Healing] (Activated) –1,820(MAPL)

[Advance Word Fu Script: Indestructibility] >>Duration 30-seconds (Activated) –2,500(MAPL)

Fully assimilated with approximately 6 Powered Scripts increased Jin Hennessy’s strength by 500%. Now at the peak of his empowered constitution, he no longer delayed his attack.

“Intoxicating Rush!” Jin Hennessy began unleashing vicious series of leg attacks replete with boundless Natural Verb Force. He dashed around the dome at the speed of thought, destroying all of the sporadic dimensional rifts with a single kick. Within only a fraction of a second, three tenth of the dimensional rifts were completely obliterated.

Jin Hennessy continued to lay waste to the portals at rapid velocity. The Powered Scripts he had assimilated with helped to prevent the deterioration of his body while he was in Intoxicating Rush Mode. Had it not been for Rapid Healing and Indestructibility, he would have turned into fine particles the moment he commenced his attack.

Multiples by multiples, Tor Eyes witnessed his portals succumbing to Jin Hennessy’s destructive blast. The more he destroyed, the more cracks appeared in the Kismet Coin. Tor Eyes felt so utterly powerless. In order to prevent his Kismet Coin from getting destroyed, he had no other choice but to cancel his Created Domain, Riftopia. As soon as he did this, Dam Son came along and punched him in the face. He crashed directly into Boss Vage’s grasp.

‘Rumble!’

Momentarily, the expansive dome that was cast over the mountain started to crumble. Just outside the crumbling barrier was an impatient line-up of Raixom Academy’s campus guards, accompanied by curious students, members of academic staff along with the principal.

“Magnum Opus, the barrier is shattering! Now’s our chance to enter!”

“Right. Follow me!”

Many concerned individuals began rushing inside the crumbling dome with untargeted ferocity. Perceiving their approach, Boss Vage abandoned the thought of capturing Dam Son in order to hasten his escape.

“Wake up you troublesome idiot.” Boss Vage slapped Tor Eyes awake. “Hurry and get us all out of here!”

With remorseful eyes, Tor Eyes responded, “I’m sorry boss. I’ve failed you.”

“Save your apologies for later. We have to vacate this place quickly before that traitorous bastard gets here.” Boss Vage looked afield directly at Principal Magnum Opus. Both of them had a dark history that dated back to the inception of Raixom Academy.

Back then they were all trouble makers, Jin Hennessy included. All 3 of them had the same master so they were very close. Boss Vage went by the name Diceman Raixom in those times. He was a legacy of the settlement’s forefathers. Of the 3 of them, he was the most brilliant and intellectual Wordsmith. It was his idea to establish an academy to instruct young and upcoming Word Masters.

Jin Hennessy who was the oldest among them excelled in Word Fu Mastery. Magnum Opus was a well-rounded Word Mage who had equal status in both masteries. They all complimented each other in some way or another. However, with the passage of time, something happened between them that made Diceman separate himself to pursue a more affluent prospect.
