“That’s enough of you bumpkins. Stop smearing my windows with your ugly faces.” Perceiving the elated students daubing their squishy countenance against her pristine office window, Ms Philosopho garnered their attention with an austere scolding. The elated students hurriedly removed their faces from the glass pattern then went over to where Ms Philosopho was directing them.
Reaching the centre of her spacious office, Ms Philosopho pressed firmly against an idle script that was plastered onto the wall. After she traced activated the mysterious script, a great alteration of dimensions occurred; causing multiple rows of desks to start appearing in the office’s centre.
“Now this looks more like a classroom.” Said Ms Philosopho satisfyingly. “You may all sit down wherever you please.”
“You heard her, class. Go ahead.” Ms Enjoy urged the students to sit wherever.
“Okay.” Dam Son sat at the very front of the room. Seeing his boastful approach, Ms Philosopho thought of him as daring.
‘This Dark-Human seems capable. I should try harder to get more of these rug rats to choose my mastery as their main.’ She clapped her hands and said, “Alright everyone, all eyes on me!”
Ms Philosopho bulged out her buxom chest while exuding tout air of hubris. Many students felt intimidated by her threatening aura. “Now that you’ve all settled, I will commence my lesson by giving you a brief introduction to Wordsmith Mastery. How many of you are actually aware of what a Wordsmith key role really is?”
Ms Philosopho waited to see the students’ hands raised. “Only a few, I see. Then let me start by giving you a short overview.”
Ms Philosopho pulled down a thick brown canvas that was suspended from the ceiling. Afterwards, she summoned a papyrus from her Guide which she tacked to the canvas. Immediately, a unique diagram began forming alongside the canvas.
“What are those?” Upon observing the peculiar writing which swarmed the canvas, Dam Son felt a tad bit of amazement coupled with confusion.
Ms Philosopho softened Dam Son’s bewildered gaze by explaining to the entire class: “These peculiar striations are known among us seasoned Wordsmiths as APX-Code. I will go into further detail about this topic later.”
“Apx-Code…?” Dam Son committed this phrase to memory.
“Then, I’ll be back shortly.” Ms Enjoy left the room to go supervise the work inside the refinery that Ms Philosopho put on paused to teach her students.
Ms Philosopho continued. “Many believe that a Wordsmith's main purpose lies solely in refining Mundane Letters for Powered Scripts utilization, but that is a great misconception.” She directed the class’s attention toward the canvas behind her. “Observe… This sheet of Arcane Paper has a powerful engram that has been fabricated from scratch; using only the basic knowledge of Ink Lettering.”
A student raised his hand and inquired, “Teacher, what is Ink Lettering?”
“Huh???” Everyone stared at Dam Son dumbfounded when they heard his enquiry. “Is that Dark-Human for real? He doesn’t know the most basic things.”
“How did he even get inside this academy?”
“He must be trying to gain attention. How shameless.” Eyes of derogatory nature were being directed towards Dam Son for his lack of knowledge, even Ms Philosopho was slightly miffed.
“This brat!” Ms Philosopho moved forward with angry strides, furthermore, she slammed her hand on Dam Son’s desk. “You really aren’t aware of what Ink Lettering is?”
Like a clueless clown, Dam Son answered, “Yes miss. I really do not know. Please instruct me!”
“Hmm…?” By his intense staring, Ms Philosopho realized that Dam Son wasn’t pulling her leg. ‘This brat really doesn’t know? What the hell has Enjoy been teaching them?’ She glanced at the entrance of her office angrily. If Ms Enjoy was still there, she would have scolded her openly.
“Alright brat. I’ll tell you and the rest who don’t know.” Ms Philosopho settled her heavy breathing then went back towards the expansive canvas. “Ink Lettering is common knowledge amongst the vast residence of Vocabular. It is simply the application of structural writing on any given sheet of paper. Be it arcane or normal. Here’s an example…”
Ms Philosopho specifically stared at Dam Son as she demonstrated to the class. She withdrew a regular brush from her desk, an ink goblet along with a sheet of paper.
On that specific piece of paper, she wrote her name and showed it to the class. “Here! This is known as common Ink Lettering.”
“That’s it?” Dam Son was bewildered. ‘All miss did was write her name on that piece of paper. I’ve done that before. So writing is known as Ink Lettering? That’s nothing special.’
“Hm?” Ms Philosopho seemed to have guessed what Dam Son was thinking internally. “It looks simple, doesn’t it? Just the same as common writing?”
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
“To some extent, that is true. However, without this specially made goblet of ink coupled with the common force of handwriting, Ink Lettering is impossible. This is something that anyone can do without the aid of Powered Letters.”
“For the sake of this lesson, Ink Lettering becomes more complex.” Ms Philosopho directed the students’ gazes back to the suspended canvas. “All these complex diagrams that you see moving about before you, were accomplished solely by Ink Lettering of an advanced degree. Simply putting ink to paper will never achieve this level of complexity. This masterpiece Script Engram was created by one of my core students. You might be wondering what is so special about this animated script and for that, you require another demonstration.”
With a wave of her hand, Ms Philosopho commanded the canvas to shrink to a holdable scroll. She then activated a Noun Script which manifested a special Arcane Bath in the centre of her office. “Now all I need is a stupid volunteer. Who among you is the dumbest?”
As she said this, everyone stared directly at Dam Son who was at the very front of the class. “He is the most foolish teacher!” They all thought the same. For someone who didn’t know what Ink Lettering was until 5 seconds ago, he must be the most foolish among the class.
“You, come up here!” The bossy tone in Ms Philosopho’s voice frightened Dam Son to his feet.
“Yes, teacher!” He hurriedly went ahead as Ms Philosopho instructed.
“Now brat, I want you to craft for me a very special object.”
“What might that be, miss?” Dam Son asked timidly.
She smirked. “Here it is.” With a snap of her fingers, Ms Philosopho called forth a hidden item from her Library. It possessed a fierce sharpness that could cut through metal as easy as ice.
“Wow! Isn’t that a level-3 Draconis Blade?” Those who recognized its brilliance were astonished, even the imperious Cinder Burn was startled.
“That is indeed a powerful Augmented Weapon that surpassed even my level-1 attribute. There is no way that idiot would be able to craft a replica of that blade successfully. I reckon even many skilled Wordsmiths might find it difficult.”
“I agree. There is no way he can craft it! He hasn’t even received any proper training in Wordsmith Mastery before, so how can he?” The students began an uproar concerning whether or not Dam Son (The dumbest in the class) would be able to craft a level-3 Draconis Blade.
“Fhm.” Ms Philosopho smirked upon recognizing their confounding expressions. “Alright settle down, you brats! It is time for the demonstration.” She gave Dam Son an austere glare. “Go ahead and craft this very same blade for me”
“But that is impossible, miss. I’m not even that accustomed to using the Arcane Bath yet.” Dam Son felt pressured. He had no idea where to start in crafting a level-3 Augmented Weapon.
“You dare to refuse my command?” Ms Philosopho stepped closer to Dam Son with strict strides. He thought that she was going to hit him, thus took 2 steps backwards. However, she caught him before he could retreat. Furthermore, she placed the shrunken canvas into Dam Son’s hand then whispered an enchantment.
After glowing briefly, the script suddenly vanished out of Dam Son’s grasp. His eyes now showed with a possessive brilliance, moreover, his timid demeanour acquired more hubris. He moved in front of the Arcane Bath, no longer burdened by his fears. When the students witnessed his confident actions they were surprised.
“What is that dumb idiot doing? He couldn’t possibly think of crafting an Augmented Weapon of that calibre without substantial knowledge and skills???”
“Impossible! He will most definitely fail.”
“Look! He’s starting already!”
“What? The Arcane Bath is already warming up Superpower Letters???”
Dam Son was so focused on crafting the level-3 Draconis Blade that he didn’t recognize the rants of his classmates. His whole body was moving strangely as if he had years of experience in crafting formidable objects.
“Fhm-ha-ha. These brats...” Ms Philosopho stood by the side, watching the proceeding with a grin on her plump face. “These brats are in for a shocking surprise.
‘Tinker! Tinker!’
30 minutes later, the entire class witnessed Dam Son’s miraculous achievement. “No way! That’s…?” They all saw a blazing manifestation burst out of the Arcane Bath which gave a great radiance to the room. The item’s sharpness, moreover, its appearance was identical to the object Ms Philosopho had in her grasp.
“That is no doubt the Draconis Blade! Also, its strength is exactly at level-3!”
“How did that dunce-bat craft that item so quickly when it took us an entire day to craft a simple Library!?”
“Unbelievable.” Cinder Burn was almost speechless. “That Augmented Weapon is impossible for that retard to craft, unless… this has something to do with that mysterious script which disappeared earlier.” Cinder Burn surmised correctly. As she continued to observe Dam Son’s possessive appearance, she noticed the glare of hubris in his eyes dimmed. He gradually returned to his regular demeanour.
“Huh? What happened?” Dam Son scratched the side of his head puzzled. “I was actually successful in crafting this magnificent blade?” He looked weirdly at the sword hovering before him as if he had no idea he had crafted it. Furthermore, reached out to grab it.
“Not so fast!” Ms Philosopho pushed away Dam Son’s hand from reaching the Draconis Blade with an aggressive force. She then garnered the attention of the class.
“Quiet!” As if a wave of oppression overcame them, the students became silent immediately after Ms Philosopho spoke. She looked at Dam Son intensely. “Return to your seat and wipe that smug accomplishment off your idiotic face.”
“Yes, teacher!” Dam Son hurriedly planted his behind back into his seat. The other students kept staring at him in awe.
“This dunce actually crafted something so brilliant. I must be dreaming.”
“Silence!” After quieting her students, Ms Philosopho openly compared the authenticity of both Augmented Weapons. “The form and durability are identical. However, the quality is slightly off. This much is adequate.”
Finished authenticating the Augmented Weapon that Dam Son had just crafted, Ms Philosopho explained to the bewildered students how he was able to accomplish something so tremendously brilliant on his first attempt.
“Quit staring at that brat! He’s no genius Wordsmith if that is what you’re all thinking. What you’ve just witnessed became possible by the effects of the Script Engram that I showed you all earlier. It was embedded with APX-Code constructed from advanced programmable Ink Lettering. This type of Script Engram made it possible to transfer intermediate knowledge and experiences of accomplished Wordsmiths into another person. It is still a script in development that can only be used once.”
“Oh, so that’s it? I was almost fooled earlier.” The students now realized that Dam Son wasn’t a genius Wordsmith.
“I knew it had to be something like that.” Cinder Burn was relieved after finding out Dam Son hadn’t mysteriously surpassed her potential. She secretly rivalled his talents. “That’s right. There is no way he can be better than I am.” She gave him a competitive glare.
